    Great Controller- Caution Through Routers

This a good controller and is easy to set up but in the event you're having trouble getting it connected to the internet. You may need to bypass your router and connect it directly to an internet source to update its firmware before setting up through a router.

Must have to maximize use of Philips lights

As a relatively first time user of Philips lights I had bought the lights trips and LED bar lights and realized that I needed the Hue Bridge in order to connect them to my smart home set up (Google Assistant). It was a relatively simple setup, essentially this device acts much like an internet router for your Philips Hue lights and allows them all to be synchronized to a hub so that you can seamlessly control them using your Philips Hue phone app. Also, and this was the sell for me, it allows me to hook this up to my Google Assistant speaker. Once you have the Hub setup you can go into your phone app to set up "rooms" so that you can group your lights based on which room of your house/apt they are in. Therefore, you can turn on all the lights in say, the living room or bedroom and it will know to only turn on the Philips Hue lights that are in that particular room and not your whole house. A must have to get your room lights in those super cool setup in the other review pictures.

One of the first wireless smart lights ecosystem. Easy to setup, works throughout the whole house with tens of different Hue lights. I used it with a number of ambient lamps and most recently got the Hue Sync Box and a gradient light strip for my 77" TV. Makes watching movies and playing video games much more immersive.

I love hue light. I have my whole house set up with lights and led bars . I have it hooked up to alexa also so I speak to her and adjust my lights as needed with out having to move a finger . As well with my new samsung tv is has Hue sync and it enables me to sync my light with my tv so movies and tv shows it help captivate you more with the all the lights synced with tv. A must by in my eyes .

As with many of the trendy products these days, Philips gets a lot of geek right but misses one or two basics. For example, you can't set the lights to power up to the color of your choice. What could be more basic than turning on the lights? I think they expect you to leave them powered up 24/7, using the phone all the time (geez!) The initial color is a warm white like a light bulb from 20 years ago, so it's a very common color. But I prefer daylight white. On the positive side, a new interface was downloaded recently, and while I still haven't learned all the changes (geez!) it really does seem to be a big step up. The third-party add-ins (another trendy idea) don't bring much to the party for me. In particular I really didn't want to use my phone's microphone to drive the sound-responsive lights (why not bluetooth or a wired connection to avoid interference), but the music-responsive add-ins seem to be naive doohickies done by some non-audiophile developers. Bottom line: when I want daylight white I drag my phone out and run the app (geez!). And for movies, I really do like some funky green and red colors I've selected (I have four Hue bulbs). Sometimes I like to dim the LEDs while not necessarily doing much with the colors. And I set up a few "Scenes" (in the old interface I didn't even find out how for several weeks) and put shortcuts on my Android phone so that I just tap (yep, daylight white is one of them), including a scene where only the light near my media rack is turned on. Worth having, absolutely, but Philips, I want to select my own power on color (GEEZ!)

I hate buying hubs and getting into closed universe devices. And Phillips Hue aren't the cheapest devices... But I did, it works and has worked for a long time. Can't complain when it does it's job well.

The Phillips Hue is worth the money. The Hue Bridge can connect up to 50 lightbulbs at once, so it doesn’t eat up your WiFi like other hue lights. The setup is easy, and it fits in well with any room that would have a router. The bridge helps control multiple lights, and when it comes to setting up a game room, it’s perfect.

Of all the wifi light systems the Phillips hue is the best. From the ecosystem to the quality and ease of use. It’s expensive but you really get what you pay for. I’m sticking with this system.

While I was a bit frustrated to learn that I had to purchase a hub in addition to bulbs in order to connect to HomeKit, the performance and reliability of this system makes it 100% worth the investment. I've gone through several no-hub-required smart bulbs, switches, etc. and always had some reliability issues, some worse than others. Phillips and Lutron products are the only two brands that I can say I have never experienced a single hiccup, connectivity issue, etc. with.

I never had the 1st gen hue bridge, but I noticed that this gen is much compact and stylish compare to the 1st gen. The set up was extremely easy and any subsequent set up (adding light bulbs) was also effortless. I wish the price was a bit less since each hue light bulb is very expensive compare to other competitions.

    Hue second generation hub

Hue second generation hub. This was one of my first purchases and I was very hesitant. I didn’t know much about smart things but it was so easy to hook up to My Hue Go lamp that I was simply amazed! By the way you can buy the hub with several bulbs and it’s much more cost-effective. But I didn’t do it that way because I wasn’t sure about the lightbulbs just yet my recommendation: buy the hub and the several lightbulbs all at once it’s cheaper that way! This controller I have mounted on the wall in my office. My Hue Go lamp goes outside on my patio ( when I sit in the hot tub) and I have since bought a Hue color bulb which I use in my bedroom. Soft pink is my favorite color, very romantic. I bought the Bloom but haven’t figured out how to use its features yet since I just opened the box. These items are really easy to use and clearly I am a 56-year-old amateur! So if I can use these things and have loads of fun I’m sure you’re much more technically savvy than I am and you’ll have a blast using them. Can’t wait to get the Hue strips and use them under my kitchen counters AND I just found out today that you can cut the strips which is marvelous and they also have extensions. That will be my next purchase. I’m buying these items one item at a time and it’s marvelous how they work together in sync. Also they have fan light bulbs but I’m a little disappointed that the fan light bulbs are not colored and that they only fit certain size fans. So make sure you bring your fan light bulb in to see if it fits because these are skinny nozzle fans that you screw in if you have a larger nozzle the fan bulbs won’t fit But the hue controller is fantastic and controls all of these devices. I totally recommend it -go for it! And it easily extends the Wi-Fi from inside my office outside onto the porch, into the kitchen, all over my house so it has excellent range on Wi-Fi. You don’t have to worry about whether it will reach far enough with the Wi-Fi. Love this item.

I’ve had few bulbs and smart lights for many years and had a first generation bridge although I was told that the first generation bridge could be a matter of compatible through your software updates. I was experiencing a high-pitched home and interference throughout my house that was very hard to track down. It turns out that this was emanating from the bulbs and related to an outdated Hugh bridge apparently replacing the bridge seems to have solved the interference and high-pitched noise that was driving me crazy

I love the bridge. Setting it up is so easy and when its synced to a sync box the lights match perfectly. It definately gives the room an amazing feel. At first i was a little skepticle because of the price of everything but let me tell you that its all worth it. If you love movies and shows as much as i do this setup is what you need. Perfect for video games and tv. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to upgrade their entertainment system.
