Makes my lighting package 10 times easier to use

You can use Philips lights without this, but it's way more of a pain to do so. If you use them without this, you have to be on the same WiFi network as the lights and connect to them via Bluetooth to use them. Meaning, you can only control the lights when your phone is near them. However, this makes it so you can control your lights from anywhere in the world you can access the Internet from your phone. Very convenient. I will say this bridge was a bit of a pain to set up. I connected it to my WiFi router via Ethernet cable and I think I had to unplug, replug and play with the Bridge about 10 times before it connected as it did. Once I got it set up though, it worked just brilliantly. But setting it up is a pain. Overall, brilliant add to a Philips lighting package.

It does its job. Easy to connect in app Wish it would not have to be connected via Ethernet however I’m sure that boosts reliability

Purchased the Hue Bridge to go with my Hue light strip and sync box. Very easy to set up with the Hue App. Just plug it into your modem via Ethernet cord and pair it to your sync box and your Hue lights are ready to sync to your tv and video game console! Happy with my purchase!

The biggest feature is that this hub will interface with Siri and other voice controls such as Alexa and makes controlling your lights infinitely easier. I have tried both of the above mentioned voice assistants and they both work; however, Siri seems to work better and has more flexibility.

I'd toyed with various products and ideas before taking the plunge with the Hue system. The bridge couldn't have been any easier/quicker to set up and connecting my various bulbs/accessories was also a snap. I really like being able to control, dim and turn on/off various lights while away and while at home. Worth the investment.

Best system out there. Phillips Hue is expensive to start, but well worth it. It lasts a long time and is pretty flawless.

Had connectivity issue first time setting up but was quick and easy second time. Got it set up on app and showed all my existing lights ready. Connects great to the hue bulbs and gradient light strip. Connects multiple devices and syncs well.

The hue bridge itself works well and is fairly easy to set up.The app, however, is the confusing part. If you just want to make the lights a certain color and leave them that way then it works great. But if you want to take advantage of all of the features advertised such as scenes and syncing the lights to music and movies, it's more difficult. We're still learning, but it seems as though you must download different "hue affiliated" apps to use the lights to their full capacity.

We wanted to buy Hue lights and connect with our Smart Things and Google Home Mini. After reading many reviews of issues connecting without the bridge, we bit the bullet and bought the bridge during a sale. It made setting up across our smart apps very easy. Each time you sync to a new smart product you just press the Hue Hub center button. Save yourself the headache and just buy the hub so that all apps and devices speak to each other.

I thought I could get away with not having the bridge device. I just bought bluetooth enabled bulbs, but they didn't all get recognized by my Google assistant (for voice control). The bridge makes it all easier. Bluetooth bulbs, non-bluetooth bulbs, different rooms... the bridge connects them all and allows you use them with Google (or Amazon or Apple) for voice control.

I bought this to controll some Hue Lightstrips plus and integrate with my Samsung Smartthings hub. Setup was turnkey. Easily connected to my light strips and it was very quickly integrated with my Smartthings hub/app. Had this about 2 months now and it has consistently worked as advertised. No issues.
