The best Philips Hue Starter Pack

This starter pack has three color lights, the hub, and the dimmer switch. I got the pack during the Black Friday sales for $119 which was amazing value as the color bulbs alone would normally cost that much. The lights themselves are great, I got the 4th generation and they are bright although not as bright as LifX (800 vs 1100 lumens). I own them both, the Hue's integrate slightly better with more 3rd parties and generally work 5% more reliably over the Lifx as the latter depends on how good your wifi is. The colors on the Lifx are better but they tend to be more expensive. Overall you can't go wrong with either and they are the best Smartbulbs money can buy. The dimmer adds value when you can stick it to a wall nearby and may not want to use voice at night and disturb your family. I strongly recommend this pack to anyone looking for a starter kit especially if you can find a deal.

Even though these smart bulbs are a little on the expensive side, they are the best out there. I've tried others and been disappointed.
They are easy to set up and program to come on and off at certain times of the day. The color changing features are fun to play with too. They also work great with Google Home and Alexa.

Bought on a whim to try automated lighting. Location was kitchen island. Setup was extremely easy. App, Hub, Lights, and update of firmware. Integrated with Siri/Homekit. App very easy to customize and fun to ask Siri to change light settings. Wish price was even better than sale price I purchased for but still worth it.

Great Hue Bundle on Sale

If you wait and get it on sale it makes it almost affordable. You have to have the Hue Hub to do any of the Hue Smart Stuff.3 colored bulbs and a dimmer round out the package.Download the Hue App and start installing the lights and dimmer. You have to have the serial number off of each bulb/device.Don't install all the lights at once and then set them up.Do them one at a time. Then you can assign rooms and groups.Next step is to link it to your Google Home and you can control all the lights with your voice.I took a star off because they are still to expensive.

This bundle comes with every thing you need to start your smart home with lighting. Philips Hue has great variety of lights and the color is great. Full range of colors from true white to any color you would like. Using the Hue App (or even Hue Essentials (on Google Play)), you can fully customize you home lighting experience. Once connected to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, you have full control of your lights with a simple command. I was able to set up the lights and start using them within a few minutes. After you have things working you will begin to tweak it to your custom unique experiences. Within an hour I was using voice commands. Within a day I had the entire system working exactly the way I liked it. Package comes with all the necessities. The bridge is key to using and customizing your experience using the Hue app. The dimmer switch even works when you internet is down thanks to the bridge.
This is a MUST HAVE and the best way to get started with smart lighting in your home!!!!

For more in-depth reviews, go to the four bulb starter kit.
I have had these about a week now and wish I would have gotten them sooner.
Set up was smooth along with pairing. The hub does all the work for you.
The switch is a great addition to the kit with programmable clicks to set secnes.
Light out put is good to great depending on color and what you have the bulb in. Found it is the best with a cloth like lamp shade
Pros.
Ability to set up a geo fence so lights will turn on when you get home and turn off when you leave
Hue sync: allows you to connect your lights to your pc. This is where the fun begins. Once connected and an entertainment area has been set. The application with change the light according to the colors on you computer screen. Google hue sync and which a video. It might change you’re light.
Con.
So far I have run it one and it’s not a big deal. The hue app is limited to basic functions. This can be solved with third party apps but understand why Phillips went this way. If you want that function, you can get an app for it. Keeps the hue app simple.
Side note: the hues app is a great experience for controlling your lights just don’t plan on only having that one app for these puppies
If you are on the fence, get them. You will not regret it!!

Relatively easy setup...I actually setup the bridge and lights before I found the setup instructions. The bulbs were functional as soon as screwed in, working with old wall switch. The Hue bridge adds a ton of function...local/remote control, brightness/color, event-triggered automation and more. Although it all worked right out of box, newest features required the app, bridge, and each bulb to download and update its software, which takes quite a while but was very straightforward. Lights can be controlled via Hue app, Apple HomeKit (and others), or by voice via smart speaker (e.g. Apple HomePod). Scenes and rooms synchronize between the apps (single setup) but functionality varies between apps. Four button wall switch works great and attaches to wall magnetically or via tape or screws (neat) and switch pops out to become remote.
LOTS OF FUN...CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY MORE.

This is a great way to get into the Hue system. You get a hub, three color changing bulbs and a wall mountable dimmer switch. Catch it on sale and it is the same price as three bulbs alone. It is fairly straightforward to setup but the app is a little limiting. There are apps available that can give you more functionality. Plus it can be added to Alexa, Google or Apple for voice control. The two biggest drawbacks are price and brightness. Being a fairly new technology the prices are quite high. $50 for one color bulb is a lot. Hopefully the price will drop with time and popularity. The lights could be brighter when in color modes but the whites are very good. Blue is very disappointing. Almost nonexistent. Still it is a win.

These bulbs are amazing, especially when paired with other Hue bulbs as they can all be controlled individually even if they are in the same fixture such as a ceiling fan/light. Easy to set up as it takes just minutes to connect them to the Hub/Bridge and Alexa. I would have given it 5 stars if it were more reasonably priced.

The good The Philips Hue Play light bars are well designed and easy to mount in a variety of ways, making them a good fit for spots where bulbs aren't an option. You can connect three to a single power supply to help cut down on cord clutter around your surge protector.
The bad The Play lights don't feature built-in batteries or any other unique extra features. Despite a high price tag, the starter kit doesn't come with the mandatory Hue Bridge.
The bottom line These are some of the most appealing new Hue lights of the year, but they're too pricey to recommend just yet.

These lights are beautiful and easy to set up, the hub works great and the dimmer switch is simple to set up! The hue sync app for PC works pretty flawlessly and with the correct placement in the room really adds into the immersion of music and movies. It's an extremely affordable way to get into the Philips hue ecosystem and I have been loving every moment of it. Works great with all voice assistants and has some pretty cool added functionality through hue labs. The updates do take awhile, but the system functions for most of the updating process so no biggy to me.
The ONLY con I have really ran into so far is that having multiple bridges is an extremely clunky affair at the moment. It makes large houses or multi-entertainment zones being active a much more difficult situation than it needs to be. Unless you have homekit, Apple handles multihubs like a champion, so get it together Philips!
If not for the poor multihub support I'd rate it a 5 out of 5.

This bulbs are a super easy way to change the mood of your room without changing the decor. You can go from an energized daytime lighting scheme to a dim, warm nighttime scheme. The colors are so fun for parties or just hanging out watching movies. I bought these as a gift for my husband and he uses them all the time while he's gaming. There's some cool apps you can use to sync the lights to music or to change them from your phone. They're a little expensive upfront but have been well worth the cost.

This is the perfect starter pack to get you addicted to the Philips Hue lighting system.
The Bridge is the brain of it all, connecting all of your Hue lights together.
The color bulbs are expsenive when bought alone so I highly recommend purchasing in a bundle like this.
Supremely easy to setup and integrate into any normal lighting fixture.
You'll spend hours playing with the settings in the app if you are a nerdy lighting guy like me. Or you might find some inspiration if you aren't!

I love these lights and Hue in general. I have these lights set up in the living room which make the color range great for movies, parties, etc.
They are a bit pricey which is why I suggest to get this kit with the bridge and purchase other lights separately; works out to be the best price available for the Hue color lights. Also, I got these on sale.
Only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is because the Hue lights can be a bit finicky with google assistant when adding/changing light names and you may need to unlink/relink hue to fix it (becomes a bit of a pain when you have 10+ lights). Though once all the lights are set up they work perfectly. The Hue app is easy to use and runs beautifully.

I first was Skeptical on how the Philips lightbulb works. I also worried would it be hard to install with my Alexa. I did not have to worry it is very easy to install with Alexa and works well. Not only are the colors beautiful it allows you to change the percent of the bulb you would like to use. For instance you can ask Alexa to turn your bulb down to as low as 5%. Like I said I love this product and it also is energy-efficient.

This is one of the most simplest way to upgrade your home to automation. The starter pack gives you 3 bulbs and the bridge. A bonus is the switch where it gives you a more tactile way to turn your device on and off. The hue app is easy to navigate and the Philips hardware is compatible with apple home. Definitely a good buy for me, The only drawback is i noticed when an outage comes, and power is back on, the lights turn on without you knowing.

This kit works so well to control an item via the switch provided, it was a pleasant addition to our smart home. Before our very high ceiling fan required planning, which it seemed we needed help with. Now I can turn on via app or voice command. I love it. The lights are top notch and has the brightest output for color spectrum outside of white. They are very good quality and add a perfect environment to any room. Highly recommended.

I love these lights and the ability to program them based on rooms and time. For example, every evening my hall light turns on just before sunset. I also have my Google Home connected to the Hue and I only use voice commands to control my lights anymore. However, the Hue app is great with a full color wheel to truly customize color combinations and scenes. I highly recommend and will be buying more in the future.

I purchased these lights because I was planning to travel and wanted lights that I could set on a timer and control while I was away. These lights exceeded my expectations! Very easy to install and use. There are a ton of colors to pick from and all look amazing. I use these lights all the time and have already purchased more as well as dimmer switches and the light strip. Would definitely recommend these lights!!
