Bought this to control my entry lights and it works great. Using the HomeKit automation I am able to turn on the switch that controls the lights and have them turn off after a set time period. Works great outdoors. Wish it was a bit smaller and easier to make blend in.

As someone who’s used plenty of the indoor version of this sensor, this was my first purchase of the outdoor version. In general, it’s great—integrates with HomeKit, reports temp, light level, and motion all there for you to use in automation if you like. My one caution is that the motion sensor is incredibly sensitive and has a wide range. I placed it outdoors on the edge of an elevated deck, and I had to turn off notifications, as it was detecting every squirrel that would pass by even at the lowest sensitivity setting. So while it’s useful, thoughtful placement will be important to make sure your lights aren’t turning on when you don’t mean for them to.

After using the indoor sensors for years now, I was excited to see that Hue now had the outdoor version. Does everything that it is supposed to and allows me to control everything away from home. Easy to install and good range.

And I've tried a lot. A touch expensive but... The Hue is a multipurpose sensor and it reads motion, light and temperature. it's very fast and I really like being able to adjust the sensitivity to each of the dimensions... helps to cut down on false alarms. So... here is the best ever thing about this sensor - I disconnected it from the Hue bridge and connected directly to my Hubitat. Now I can use it with the Hue lights (that I use for ambience) and also for my zigbee lights which I use more for safety and security. That's awesome value. Also note that battery devices (which this is) do not act as repeaters.

This was easy to install and add to my existing Hue system. The motion detection works without failure. Does not take up a lot of space and can be installed on many surfaces.

The unit mounts easily. It is battery powered (2 year life) which is a necessity. The app offers many options to control the sensitivity
of the sensor. It operates as described.

I put one of these out at the end of my driveway so I would know if anyone pulled in. It is programmed to turn on various lights as well as set specific colors on lights to indicate that it has been tripped. From outside it looks like people are home and have turned on lights (weather we are or not) inside it gives us a heads up to check the cameras.

FIFTY F N BUCKS? well I just wanted to have my outside light turn on and timed back off with Alexa . seems no matter what I do, anything triggers this overly sensitive motion detector. trust me I have tried everything. The best I can do is either remove it and go back to timed lighting, or what is pretty much the same thing... have it only trigger a routine during certain hours. works really well for what it suppose to do. but dag um... the winds was setting off my door bell every 10 seconds.

Philips Hue has a great ecosystem of products that are unmatched. This sensor is no different. It was very easy to pair using the Hue app, and various mounting solutions to use when installing. The range was impressive. It has a very wide 160° range of detection, that works great with my larger patio. HomeKit integration not only offer motion sensor activated automations, but provides light and temperature info. The only thing holding this back is the Apple HomeKit app itself, but I won’t be taking any points away from Philips Hue because of Apple’s app.

Happy so far.
Super easy to install and the mount that comes with it pretty much gives you the option to put it anywhere you want to whether its an outside corner, inside corner or flush mount.
In the Hue app, the setup was a little confusing with setting times for the sensor to be active. However, I figured out the first option only sets the "On Time" and the second further down sets the "Off Time". (The layout makes it seem like you set both at the same time)

This sensor has been excellent for me for my back patio. It's not only a security sensor for when there is motion on the patio, but there is something to be said when I or my family walks out onto the patio the lights automatically turn on. It's very convenient and works every single time. It's a bit pricey @$50 but again, you buy it, install it where you want it and you can forget about it. It works without the fuss.

I wanted a light outside my backyard and next to my garage to illuminate whenever I approach the garage or whenever going outside in the backyard at night, and I wanted the convenience of not having to flip the switch to the light. This does the trick. Now, thanks to this gadget, when motion is detected in the backyard, my Hue light is triggered without having to flip a switch or call out to my voice-enabled smart device. Works great!
