Finally, with support for 4k@120, the next generation of Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is here to delight owners of modern consoles/graphics cards in computers, and further enhance your home theatre with ease. Latency of color changes is acceptable in normal and intense mode, but I do wish this would share a power adapter with say, the play gradient strip or play light bars, as these power bricks in the Hue ecosystem are massive.

    Fixes Apple TV Compatibility Issues

This latest box from Hue finally fixes the tug of war sync problem with newer apple TVs. Only removing one star for the fact that Hie was aware the last gen product had issues, and provided no upgrade path or discount for existing owners who have been complaining for years about Apple TV compatibility.

Overall its a great buy. Yes irs pricey, but i love all the phillips hue line. Only downside is it doesnt work with your smart tv internal apps.. i had to use it with my apple tv hub to get the experience.

Works exactly as expected, although the price is quite expensive. My only hope in the future is Philips stays more on the ball with the evolving television market. As great as this product is, it is years behind the curve as 4/8K, VRR and 120mhz have been around for quite some time now.

Replaced a 4K sync box -- Much better upgrade

Replaced a 4K HDMI sync box - it took Phillips this revision to get the sync box right -- works like a charm vs. the 4K version which would drop the connecton to lights etc... too costly though but once you are in the philips hue eco-system you need to be committed.

I have a Govee sync box that I have no complaints about. It's a quality unit and actually comes with the LED strip. Still, I ended up purchasing the Hue sync box because I'm so heavily invested into the ecosystem. It works well with all of the other Hue lights in my home and switches automatically to the HDMI source when in operation. When not in operation, the lights will switch back to the scene thats currently swt in your room. The cost is too high, as are all Hue products. My biggest complaint is that you have to spend an additional $300 on the Hue Gradient light strip tp make everything work. Deducting 1 star due to cost.

Still new and i have only just started using it. But so far it seems to be just a little bit faster than the gen 1 unfortunately I have not been able tontest performance from my ps5 for gaming just yet but i am expecting it to be better than the gen 1 and get the 120hz to my tv.

A much better version then the former hue sync box. Much faster and supports HDMI 2.1 which lets my XBOX Series X unleash its full power with my new TV. I only wish you could have multiple sync boxes without additional hue bridges.

This is definitely an upgrade from the previous version. The last one I had would frequently lose connection from my amplifier, which handles both audio and video. This version works so much better with my amplifier. It’s extremely responsive to what’s going on the screen and makes movie watching very fun.

Works as intended. Have my consoles and pc hooked up to it. I only wish there was a way you could get the gradient lightsteip synced with the smart tv apps that are run through tv, apparently it only syncs with those if you have a samsung tv.

Works really well, I mean really well. Lag is so slight and adjusts between movies and music very effectively through the HuE app. It's just too expensive, certainly a luxury item.

Looks stunning in 4K 120 fps paired with the ps5 pro. Been waiting on this upgrade for a long while!! Only 4 stars because…I hooked it up to my 8K tv and…it can’t recognize the connection. I tested the 8K with the ps5 pro connected straight to my tv, so I know it works. Not sure if a software update is needed or what the issue is. Not the biggest deal since literally only 2 games support 8K right now and i only own 1 of them. Plus 8K has its limitations for fps and other functions with the ps5 pro in general; but still if you’re toing to advertise this as an 8K sync-box, then i expect it to work.

If you watch tv/movies through apps on your TV I would not recommend this unless you plan on buying an Apple TV or chromecast. If you play and or watch on a xbox series x or PS5 and have a TV that can do 4K @ 120, I’d recommend not plugging it into the sync box and buy an Apple TV or chromecast. You graphics get lowered when pulling HDMI through sync box even though it says it doesn’t. However if you have a cable box or Apple TV/chromecast I’d highly recommend this. As someone who thought it would be lame for the lights to sync, the ambiance while watching movies is honestly amazing. I never thought I’d say this but it truly enhances the the watching experience.

The sync box finally got the upgrade I’ve been waiting for. After years of frustration watching all my content in 1080p because my sync box couldn’t do 120hz 4k even though all my equipment was capable. Just switched the box out and changed the setting to 4k Dolby vision and we’re off and running.

This product works great. It gets rid of the hiccups that you may have with the black screen for two seconds with the old sync box. It just does not happen with this item.

This 8k sync box is a much needed upgrade from the 4k version. It was super easy to setup and sync with all my other lights. The software works flawlessly and haven’t had a single issue. This was the much needed entertainment upgrade I was needing for my setup. Thank you.

I had the original sync box and decided to upgrade. Way less connectivity issues (can use with my ps5) and everything can be done in one app. It is a very expensive upgrade but well worth it doesn’t break the bank for you
