Not compatible with LG Oled tv and Roku Ultra. It says on the box that it works with all TVs but it’s not the case. Purchased the hue bridge, sync box and lights. All connected but the sync would drop connection. I tried everything with the Hue support team but nothing worked. I had to return all 3 pieces of equipment. The lights looked great but they just would not sync with the programming on my tv. I was very disappointed.

I have a variety of Philips Hue products in my smart ecosystem, and the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is a product I've wanted to have in my home. To fully immerse myself in the experience, I have a pair of Hue Play light bars, behind my TV. Setting up the Hue Sync box was very easy. I have to say, that having the same type of adapter for the Hue Play light bars and the Sync box was refreshing, which meant that I could just plug the Hue Sync Box into my existing Hue Play light bar adapter as it has 3 inputs. That's a nice piece of design there, meaning I didn't have to use up yet another power plug under my entertainment unit. To set up the Hue Play Sync box, you do have to download the 'Hue Sync' app. It's a shame that you have to use a separate app to control this, especially if you are already familiar with the original Hue app. As far as linking the lights to the box, that was very easily done within the app. There was an update for the box right out of the packaging, so I had to sit and wait for the update. During that process, when asked to press and hold the power button until the light flashed green, resulted in the box turning off and being unresponsive 4 out of the 5 times I tried. The 5th time, it finally adjusted to where it needed to be, turned back on and lit up the light bars. A little frustrating, but it's working. You have controls within the app for sync mode (Video, Music, Game), intensity (Subtle, Moderate, High, Extreme) and brightness. These give you a good control and balance over your lighting, in real time while using it. And unfortunately 'frustrating' became a common theme with the box. On initial set up, I connected a Nintendo Switch to HDMI 1, and then into my 5.1 surround receiver. That worked really nicely, the light bars lit up and changed color based upon whatever was on the screen. There was no lag, and the light shone clear and bright all the way up my 22ft living room walls. I had a smile on my face like a Cheshire Cat! Really made for an immersive experience when playing games, and really expanded the visual viewing area of my TV. The following day, I completed a full install, added all of my other components to the Hue Play HDMI Sync box and then ran the output of the box into my receiver. That is where the frustration started. The only way to display the input and the light bars is to have the Hue box turned on (obviously). To turn on the box, you have to either press the physical button on the front, or open the app and turn on the box. The app takes way too long to sync with the box. It is not automatic, it can take 20+ seconds to find the box. Even with my phone right next to the box. And then, to change the inputs, yes, you guessed it, you have to use the app and change the input selection in the app. That takes time as well. And then you have to select the option to have the lights sync with that HDMI input, it doesn't automatically start running the lights when you choose the HDMI input. My smart ecosystem is all voice controlled. I have the Hue Play light bars setup to turn on and off with my voice, like you can do with any other Hue lights. BUT, when connected to the HDMI Sync box, I can't use the macros in my Harmony Hub that control all of my media equipment, because in order to get anything to work, I have to access the Hue Sync app and turn it on, and switch the inputs. That drove me crazy, to the point that I had to remove all of the components from the Sync box and leave just the Nintendo Switch in there. That way, if I'm playing a game, I can choose to set up the lights as well. I was going to give the box 4 stars, because when working smoothly, this is a fantastic (albeit pretty expensive) product. Lag-free lighting expansion of your TV adds to your viewing experience. But the frustration of app-only controls for the HDMI switching just frustrated the heck out of me, even while writing the review, so I have to give it 3 stars. I do believe that some of these issues could be sorted out with an app update, to make automatic switching an option, maybe a default 'on' option, something to not leave you tethered to the app. Don't get me wrong, the experience when it's working, really blew me away. It's the frustration of the interface that let it down.

Perfect addition to the hue lights I previously purchased ( 3 playbars in total). The only issue I have is that it will occasionally pick up a sync in the middle of the night and when I wake up the lights are on even though the tv and all my components connected to the box are off.

It’s a cool idea, but very glitchy and expensive. I have so many Hue products that I had to use the sync box. If I was starting from scratch I’d probably use the Govee set up.

I really like this item. There a few bugs that are irritating and that is the lights connect when I turn the tv on. They also turn on when I turn the tV off (maybe a setting issue). However, when a movie is on and they are connected very exciting and nice. Creates a great ambiance.

You get what you paid for, just gets tricky at first, but once you know what you are doing, it does it perfect. Note: if you have a 2019 or older tv, this might be a little too much for the tv to process all this operation, black screens or other things might happen.

Smart Lighting has become very common in households and Philips Hue Lights are consistently top of the line in that category. However, for those of you wanting more out of your lights - something more immersive and involved - Philips has created the Hue Sync Box. So far my experience has been over the top with this product! SETUP: - I have seen some complaints about set up so I was a little worried at first. However, I could not have been further from reality because this device was so simple to set up! - This device essentially is an arc support. You take your HDMI from your Streaming Device, Satellite, Blu-Ray Player, or Video Game System and hook it into 1 of the 4 HDMI inputs on the Sync Box. After that you plug the HDMI out from the Sync Box into your TV/Monitor, plug in the power, and you are ready for the software set up. - The software side is easy. You have to download a dedicated Hue Sync Box App which lets you follow the on screen guide and it works so smoothly. I already have a Hue Bridge and lights set up (which you of course need) and the App found the bridge, found the Sync Box, and linked everything together while upgrading the firmware along the way. - All in all, set up took me probably 15 mins. Seriously, it was that easy and I was ready to go. EXPERIENCE WHILE USING: - First I will say I can 100% confirm that the Hue Sync Box works with Dolby Vision, HDR 10, and Dolby Atmos! My set up that my 4K Apple TV plugs into the Sync Box, the Sync Box into my Dolby Atmos Sounbdar, and the Soundbar into my 4K HDR TV. And I watched a Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos movie using the Sync Box and it all worked great. - Using the Sync Box, you go to the Sync Box app to "Start/Stop" the Sync process. So that means every time you use your TV you don't have to have the lights syncing up to what's on the TV. However, once you turn it on it works just as expected. There is no lag, it reacts to whatever is on the TV in colors and direction of the colors as well. It also works well with Music, Videos, or Gaming - nice to have all three features. - Something pretty cool about the App is that you set up where your Hue Lights are in comparison to where you are sitting and where the TV is located. Once you move the lights in the app to where they are in the room, they interact with the screen in the sense of if there is light on the left side of the screen you will get your left side lights on while the right side lights are dim. It really adds to the experience and I think it was a good move! - Another thing you can do in the App is change the intensity of the Sync (Subtle, Moderate, High, Extreme) and change the brightness of the lights as well. Of course there is no color choices because it is syncing with what is being played. But overall I like that feature because there might be times you want a more impactful experience than others so it's good you can tweak that. - Finally I will just say that using this device felt really immersive. It's just really brings you into whatever you are watching or listening to and really creates a high level entertainment feel. WHAT COULD IMPROVE IT: - This isn't the Sync's box at all but just from my experience, I feel that this lighting experience works best in a room meant for viewing. As in somewhere where the lights bounce off the walls more and stays contained in the room. So not so much an open concept area (which it would still work) but just think of how a movie theater is essentially a closed box you sit in to watch movies. I think a room like that improves the Sync Box. - It's not ideal that you need two Philips Hue Lights: one for the lights themselves and one for the Hue Sync Box. I understand that a dedicated app for the Sync Box will work better for the experience, but it would just be nice if it was all under one app. - Lastly, when you "Stop" sync of the Hue lights I wish they would go back to what you had it had prior to starting the Sync. For example if you have your lights on white at 100%, they Start the Sync Box, then Stop the Sync, the lights will stay at whatever color and % that they were at when the Sync Stopped. It would be nice if they returned to a default type mode. BOTTOM LINE: - If you are a fan of your Philips Hue Lights and want to get the most out of them during your Movie/TV/Gaming/Music Listening experience, than the Hue Box is a game changer. It is simple to use, creates a great atmosphere, and will even more make your home viewing comparable to that of a movie theater or concert. The upfront price may seem steep at first, but once you use it you will not regret it.

Loving this thing so far. I’m amazed with how seamlessly it switches to the new input it detects and the effects with movies and especially video games are really awesome. Been playing the game Control on ps5 and that game is a great way to demo the lights.

This is a great addition to a movie and gaming room setup. To make the experience 100% AWESOME buy the Hue radiant light strip to put on the back of your TV. This syncs up with other Hue lights in the room using a Hue Syns app.

I wanted to love this product so much but did not deliver what I expected. My personal experience the color shifting was not accurate for what was on my TV, also to add the music sync option isn’t that great. I have plenty of hue lights as well as the hue play bars. Wish it worked out for me as I love the concept of immersion of what is playing on the screen
