    Great when it’s not frustrating

I recently bought enough lights to do a number of rooms at my home. The experience is inconsistent in execution. Sometimes I tell Siri (on the HomePod) to turn lights on in said room and it does it with no hitch, other times it turns only some of them on. It is also frustrating when the iPhone and the HomePod jockey for control and they cancel the one you want to use out. The most infuriating thing is the leaving commands that it invariably screws up nine times out of ten. On the plus side set up of these lights is fairly simple. If I had to do this over I would have waited for the tech to be fully baked. My wife consistently messes up the system by manually shutting off lights and hates the system....which gives me a consistent headache. That said this is probably your safest bet on a light setup that will stick around. The Hue system is the dominate player in the market and it’s doubtful you will buy these and see them be bricked in a couple of years down the road. One tip I will give you is make sure you name the rooms in a fashion that everyone using them will remember. Also, if you are an Apple user I would suggest changing the generic leaving command to something you prefer.

I'm using these cool white bulbs in places like the bedrooms and hallways. For kitchen and bathroom areas, I'm using the Sengled Daylight bulbs for a whiter light. Alexa tip: For rooms with multi-bulb fixtures, I'll name the bulbs within the Alexa app as Dining 1, Dining 2, Dining 3 and so on. Then I'll add them to groups like Dining Room and Main Floor. With Alexa, a given bulb can be assigned to several different groups to reduced the number of times you need to call out Alexa. Then tell "Alex Dining on at 50%," , Alexa, lower the Dining Room, or "Alexa, Main Floor Off". this works very well. Just thought it worth mentioning if you're just getting started.

This item came in a package deal so I really wasn't looking for its function. It setup easily with the proper additional pieces. It was fun to show others how the verbal command controlled the light. Not long after the purchase the bulb is not working with the verbal command but it does by manual adjustment. This might be a good item for certain applications. I'm sure I don't use it to its full potential

When they say that it's a "white bulb" what they really mean is that its more of an orange light (daylight). To get that bright white light you need to buy the multi-color light that is about $50. We got this light for free, but they will get you in the end. What house only has one light bulb. So you will start buying more and more bulbs. It works good with Alexa, where you can turn off the lights from bed. Check Homedepot where you can buy 4 bulbs and the controller for $50 less.

Although it's cool to turn your lights on with your voice, these can be frustrating. The interface between the Alexa devices and the Phillips bridge it touchy. You have to state the lights name EXACTLY. You can't say "Bedroom light on" when it's listed as "Bedroom lights". Also the inner network between the bulbs is weak. Sometimes devices are not "reachable". As far as changing color on the color bulbs, the scenes part of the app sucks. Work great with your smartphone but as far as voice control forget it.

I bought the Hue kit with a hub and 2 bulbs. Bulbs have a warm white color and I'd prefer a cool white. Got this hoping to be able to set up routines for my front outside lights and back light to come on and off at set times. Still working on that. It's not as easy as it seems. I'm still trying to figure it out. It's easy to control the lights with the phone app.

I went to Best Buy and asked a staff member if this item (I showed him the box) will work with my new echo dot. His response was clear: yes, you only have to give it an individual name. I went home and found out the item would only work with a "bridge" (additional cost approximately $ 60). Either the staff member did not know his merchandise or he mistook the Philips hue bulb for a TP-Link or some other brand bulb. Instead of spending another $60 I returned the bulb.

Got it for free with a purchase of Exho Show. Regular price I believe is around $15 which is kind of pricey since it's only dimmable and not RGB. You can buy wifi RGB light bulbs for about $13. On the plus side, it is easy to install. No need to download an extra app, it connects directly through the Alexa app.

The light output is much lower for these new A19 bulbs than I expected. Probably since they aren't true white bulbs. The BR30 bulbs work well. The shape and size of the bulbs are very good. I am going to return for another product. I also read that the new hub software disables your use of other brands of bulbs, so I may be returning all my Philips products I purchased for the holidays.

I purchased this light and the ambiance adjustable white light both. While I prefer the crisper white light in the ambiance light and being able to adjust the shade, I like this basic bulb and the price of this one better! This is great for rooms that just need a basic bulb with one light setting and it works well with my hue pro app on my phone as well as Amazon Alexa.

These bulbs work well with both or either system. i down graded to three stars for two reasons. One, they are expensive and two, only come in 60 watt brightness. The ambiance white bulbs are preferred by myself since i like the daylight effect better than the soft white hues.

Bought based on reviews. I am able to turn the lights on/off and use the timer from the app. Been trying to get the alarms to work for several days now with no success. Have tried reading blogs and other reviews to figure out the issue with no luck. Hue tech support not available on the weekends so will have to wait until Monday to see if I can get this fixed.

the only reason I still have this "yellow" bulb at my house is b/c it was free with my echo plus. I hate the color "white" it is!!! I have the flood bulbs everywhere else and their white can be changed to WHITE! it can be dimmed so thats a redeeming quality but its not what I consider a white bulb.

This was an add on to my Echo Plus purchase. The problem with this is that the bulb is worth $15 at Best Buy but you will need to purchase a $49 adapter to put in your lamp so you can use the bulb as intended. Bulb is just sitting in my basement storage room for now. Waiting for the adapter to come down in price.

If you are wanting a smart light that has only white-light, this will probably be for you PROS - Works with Google Home and Amazon Echo and Apple Homekit - Cheaper than the full-color bulbs - Easy to install - Easy to use CONS - It is dimmable, but its dimming feature can be buggy and is limited.

I like the fact that I can control the light and set variable levels of brightness or choose a theme from philips hue app to mimick certain settings like a candle flicker only because these are yellow lights. But, if the above is not appealing to you then you are better off with a CREE led bulbs.

I bought a few of these so far and there is not much to tell. They are $15 dimmable LED bulbs that can be controlled through the Hue hub app. They are bright and can dim down to almost nothing. I want to try out a couple of the color changing ones, but they are a little cost prohibitive to buy a few at a time.

They are amazing! The first delivery was messed up, not Hue bulbs in the Hue boxes. The people in the store were horrid and refused to deal with it, but telephone customer service was great! Now, if only they'd send a return shipping box/label so I could give them their mislabeled bulbs back...

This light bulb is great for areas where you just want a standard light bulb that connects with the hue setup. It has the ability to go from bright down to night light but not nearly as neat as the colored hue light bulb. Slightly overpriced for a standard bulb.
