Philips - Hue Wireless Dimmer Switch with Remote

The Philips Hue Wireless Dimmer Switch was a perfect match for the Philips Hue LightStrip's I installed under my cabinets. I mounted this on a wall with the included wall plate. The two piece wall plate has screw holes and also comes with two sided tape. The switch, is the remote and can be removed from the wall plate to have by your side. The switch/remote attaches to the wall plate with non-visible magnets. The switch remembers the last color and brightness setting that was used so the next time you turn it on, it will be what you prefer. In conjunction with the Philips Hue Bridge, you are able to program four additional color and brightness settings. These are accessed by pressing the switches "On" button additional times.

You won't always want to reach for your phone to control your Hue lighting, and sometimes my Google Home won't hear my "Hey Google!" (or if my Internet goes out I will temporarily lose control of my smart devices). This dimmer looks exactly like any other light switch on the wall, improves upon the design with a magnetic removable remote, and gives you instant access to the most important functionality of your lighting; the basic functionality of any lights. Regardless of having your phone or an Internet connection you'll always be able to turn your lights on, off, as well as dim and brighten them. It's a no-brainer purchase if you're already spending $100s of dollars or more on Hue lighting.

    Excellent remote with little setup

So long as you've already got a Philips Hue account and lights set up, you can most likely use this remote with very little setup. Just let your bridge discover it, and set what lights you want to use it for. You can dim or brighten the lights, and it can even go between four different light settings, to include color setting for the lights that support it. The remote can be separated from the mount, allowing you to carry it with you to the couch or the bed. The mount has two methods of installation, both simple. You can either stick it onto the wall with two adhesive strips (both on the mount). or you can use the built-in magnets for a less permanent solution on walls that will allow it. My main complaint is that some of the lighting functions require you to dig into the Philips app if you want to change them from their preset scenes. While it is not particularly difficult, it may be a bit tricky for those not too tech-savvy. In addition, the remote sometimes has just a little bit of a dead period after pressing it, and can be unresponsive on very rare occasions. Still, these are most certainly not deal breakers. If I could, I would give it 4 1/2 stars. If you have Philips Hue lights in you house, I'd recommend a remote for every room you have them in. It makes them so much easier to use.

If you are like me there is someone else in your house who has to isr the hue lights who hates using alexa or siri or the home app to adjust the lights. Put this up so they stop turning off the lights manually and save yourself a headache. Also great to put at the entrace for people who are not used to it like house sitters or babysitters.

It’s hard to explain to my house guests that they shouldn’t physically turn off the lights and that I need to do it from my Phone. This switch saves me the awkward conversation and tripping down my dark stairs at 5 am trying to manually turn all the light fixtures back on. The dimmer switch works well and can cycle between preset modes instantaneously. As a plus it’s secured to its wall mount by a magnet and can be removed from the wall like a remote (perhaps not a plus if you have young children who like pretty colored lights). Overall it’s a good purchase and I am looking to buy more for other rooms. Note: needs the Phillips bridge to work.

Love the functionality of this switch. I started with LifX, but if anyone shuts the light off via the light switch, then it's impossible to control it remotely, which defeated the purpose of a programmable light. This was the only wireless switch that I could find, so I ended up buying Hue lights. Allows manual control through this switch, but allows remote control still! The only drawback is that I think the LifX app is a little better in being able to create custom programs (and setting the intensity of the light). Also, love that I didn't have to run any wires!

So much better than having to use the app every time and great to be able to dim as well. There's no lag either or disconnect which can happen with the app. Highly recommend if you need a switch for your lights

Works great to control your Hue lights of all type

This switch is awesome. It pairs easily with all forms of Philips Hue lights, and controls them wonderfully. It can turn the lights on and off as well as make them brighter or dimmer. I use them OUTSIDE my movie theater so I can turn my surrounding Hue lights on as I enter (rather than fumbling in a pitch black room with my phone or remote). This switch will also allow you to take it off the wall and control the lights as though it is a remote control (it attaches to the switch plate magnetically). The only thing it does not really allow you to do is change the colors of your color hue lights (but that's what your phone/ipad is for anyway!). Great product at a super low price, a must buy for Hue lights owners!

The dimmer switch remote by Phillips for their hue products is a cheap, but not cheaply made, product that complements your system well. I specifically purchased this so that I had an actual switch for my lights in my room instead of having to always open up my phone and turn it on (this may not matter as both android and iOS now allow voice commands to directly control such lights but this does require more complicated and tedious setting up if you have more than one room with hue lights like I do). The best feature is that the remote is magnetically held in place which does allow you to remove it from its placeholder though I do keep it on its base. The buttons are large and responsive and you can set up to 5 scenes I believe which can be switched to and from each other by pressing "On" multiple times. Also, as the names suggest, you can adjust the brightness as well I believe in 10% increments. The whole setup itself is very minimalist and very white (doesn't stain easily). Great accessory and beautiful as it is functional.

I bought this to use in my bedroom. I found that i was going to my phone a lot to change light brightness/colors and turning them off. This remote makes it so easy now to change to different scenes and turning off the lights at night. Much faster than using my google home and the app on my phone.

Phone inaccessible to use the Hue app? Don't have any Alexa enabled devices? No problem. This smart switch allows multiple preset light settings and dimmer functions. Remove from wall mounted base for portable remote access to lighting. An amazing, must-have companion product to your Hue lights!

A Necessary Part for the Ligthing Ecosystem

After jumping onto the smart-light bandwagon, I realized quickly that old-school methods still need to be part of the overall smart ecosystem. Since speaking to the house to turn on lights is not always an option, such as when people are asleep, a manual switch for controlling lights is required. Thus, when calculating costs for setting up a smart-light home, factor in the cost of a switch for each room. (Also factor in the cost of some duct tape to cover the existing switch so the lights stay powered, or the whole system stops functioning) Overall, the switch is good. There are times when it does not seem to react to pressing the button, but that could be due to a sloppy button press when in a hurry. Other times, the system loses connection to the switch, but this can be fixed by waiting for the update to finish or using the re-set button through the pin hole in the back. Having the ability to control multiple lights on one switch is nice, especially since multiple presses can be used to cycle through different scenes. While the switch can be taken off the wall and used remotely, I have not tried this since I don't want to lose the remote.

Good Switch To Control Your Lights

Easy setup and use. No need to drill holes in the walls to mount. Switch is magnetically attached to the base so you can control lights from just about anywhere in the house. A much better way to control the lights in a room compared to the tap switch that comes in the kits.

Its a light switch. It turns my lights on and off and also dims them. It was easy to connect, wireless, I can put the base on my fridge cause its magnetic and there is virtually no delay when pressing a button. Only thing that would make it better would be the ability to switch scenes with maybe another button.

This switch makes it very convenient to turn on an off the main lights used in our den. Easy to turn off the lights when going to bed. Needing to use your phone or iPad to turn the lights on and off can be inconvenient if done frequently so this switch fixes this. A must have for your Phillips Hue lights.

This is a great product. If you have Philips Hue lights you are no longer tied to your phone to control them. Place these stitches where you need them (no wiring required) and control light scenes or just the brightness of the scene currently in use. Excellent value for money adding convenience and safety.

A great addition to your Philips Hue lighting. This switch makes it easy to control the lighting in one room or even multiple rooms through zone lighting. Most importantly you and especially your guests can use all your connectes lights without using the app on your phone. This means that your primary users can use the lights full functionality without giving them access to the scenes you've worked to setup in the app. It's also great in that the dimmer is a remote that magnetically attaches to the baseplate so you can turn off your lights from the couch or bed!

This switch works perfectly with the Hue Bridge and lights. You can control any lights on the system. Not limited to lights in a given room. In addition you can program 4 scenes for the switch. They are cycled with each press of the On button. It acts as a dimmer as well. The most important concept for me is that for those who have to operate a switch when they enter or exit a room. I placed one next to the actual switches in the rooms and have my wife and son use these instead. It satisfies the human psyche to use a switch. I already purchased 2 and this will be my third. I love the Hue lighting system.

I have this switch controlling both kitchen and living room. This switch is very easy to configure the way you want it. I also like the magnet on the back of it so you can find somewhere to stick it to, instead of drilling more holes. Highly recommend it with the hue system.

I have a Philips setup that I like a lot that I use to light my my main living & dining area. I purchased this item because sometimes I do not want to have to get my phone or tablet to cut on/off my Hue setup. The buttons are customizable (link to a certain scene of your choosing in the Hue App) and one of the things I really like the switch is held onto the plate by what I believe are magnets so it can be removed and used as a remote to control your light setup. I have had this running for several months now without any issues.
