By far, the best one I've ever had

Recently, I upgraded from Philips Norelco 3100 to this one and I must say, this is a game changer. I have owned 4 trimmers before this one and it's safe to say that this is the best one I've ever had. I used the previous one for more than 5 years and it's battery would not hold charge for more than 10 mins anymore and still taking over a day to recharge. And if it came across any thick patch of beard, it would stop right there. That led me to think that it's the time to upgrade. When I think of beard trimmers, the only company that comes to my mind is Philips Norelco. I do not even look for any other brand. That's how much I admire this brand. I came across this Philips Norelco 3000 beard trimmer and immediately got it to try it out. I'm glad I'm not disappointed. It already came charged out of the box. Philips claim the battery to last for 90 mins. I cannot comment on that yet because so far, I've only used it twice, for about 15 mins each time and it was still going strong. I don't think it needs charging yet. I think it can still go for about 2 more usages before the battery dies. The other one's blade moved very slowly even on a full charge but this one's way better. I could immediately feel the difference when used for the first time. This is not a multigroom trimmer, so don't expect all the accessories with it (like different razor guards etc.) It comes with a charger, cleaning brush and a carrying pouch. That's it. No other bells & whistles. The trimmer has a nice grip which has a rubberized finish that doesn't let it fall off your hands. It also has a rotating dial that ranges from .5mm to 10mm length. My previous trimmer's dial became so sensitive that it would rotate by a gentle touch that has occasionally caused me some troubles. I use the trimmers at 6 setting or 5 at the least but due to the dial problem, the old one would shift to as low as 3 sometimes without me even realizing and now I look like a teenager desperately waiting for my beard to grow. I hope this trimmer doesn't go the same route in future. At the moment, the dial seems quite firm on the selected setting. Another thing that I would like to mention is that it's not waterproof, so don't use it as a wet shaver. All in all, I am very much satisfied with this trimmer and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy one.

I have been trimming my beard the old-fashioned way, with scissors, for a long time. I haven't used an electric razor in many years, and didn't know what to expect. I am happy to report that this razor does an excellent job of trimming my beard. When activated, the razor pules very solidly which is an indication of it's substantial power. But at no time did it vibrate in a way that made it difficult to handle. It is actually very smooth to handle, and I had no difficulty using it to precisely sculpt my beard. I especially like the available trim setting of 0.5 (stubble short) to 10 mm. I am using the middle setting of 5 but am looking forward to experimenting with different lengths. The razor guard can be removed and this will allow you a to very closely edge your beard and side burns. Razor blade quality: The actual cutting mechanism is the best I have ever experienced in an electric. The blades cut my hair smoothly and cleanly, and the result is polished and even. The trimmer feels very solid in my hand, and is very easy to handle because of the rubberized finish. I think the finish will also help with shock absorption if dropped on a hard bathroom floor. Important unpacking step: There is a small paper tab protecting the blades that must be removed before the first use. It could be easy to miss, and the razor will not work properly if not removed.

    Let’s Cut to the Chase

To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to a new Norelco beard trimmer. I already had one, and it broke in the first couple of weeks. It was still operational, but extremely annoying to use. The new one, the 3000 model, is refreshingly simple to use. It comes with the trimmer itself, power cord, small brush to clean the blade, and the instructions, which were promptly thrown to the side. It fits comfortably in my hand, and it feels secure, as if I don’t have to worry about it slipping or sliding out if my hand or the device is wet. The plastics and textures give that sense of security. The only 2 items that need adjustment are the on/off switch, located on the top of the trimmer, and easily reachable with a thumb, and the trimmer length adjustment, which is a wheel that, again, is easily operated with your thumb. I especially like the fact that it can be adjusted below “0”, so that you can get almost a full shave instead of leaving a lot of stubble. My only complaint is that it took me a couple of minutes to figure out why it wasn’t working out of the box. There is a plastic protector over the blade, but under the blade guard that needs to be removed first. I’m sure if those pesky instructions had been utilized it wouldn’t have been a problem, but, it was a quick diagnosis, and the guard came off and went right back on with no problems. Overall, I have a guarded enthusiasm about the simplicity of the trimmer. There aren’t a lot of frou-frou options, it’s extremely comfortable to both hold and utilize, and it works very well. I’d purchase it again.

    My favorite electric razor

I’ve had about half a dozen electric razors since my teenage years, one really standing out over the others, until I got this gem. Out of the gate, this comes with the shaver, wall charger, a cleaning brush, instructions, and a carrying pouch. To my surprise, it was charged upon removal from the box and a normal 8 hour charge, will hold up to 90 minutes of use. The razor has a detachable guard for an extra close shave, but the product excels most with the guard being used alongside the adjustable length wheel. The length wheel has ten settings, ranging from a .5mm length to 10mm to shave anyone with a lumberjack beard to someone more interested in a five o clock shadow. The only real con for me was that it didn’t come with an extra attachment for trimming your ears or nose, but the con doesn’t offset the pros. Besides the one hiccup, this is easy to use, safe, has got me the desired shave length every time, and best of all, with the length changing wheel, you can stop worrying about constantly having to change the guard head like razors of the past.

    An "OK" budget trimmer

Upon opening my new trimmer, it seems that it's the new version of a trusty trimmer that i've had for a few years that worked quite well. Starting off, the box of this trimmer was a pain to open and already torn. I hate shoddy packaging, Norelco should learn something from Apple and Sonos and come up with more attractive packaging. The trimmer itself feels very sturdy and has some weight to it, a definite upgrade over my old one. I love that it has a dial to change the settings on the comb and a power button instead of a switch. All of this seems very sturdy. The attachment trimming comb does not feel sturdy at all. It attached to the trimmer with the 2 arms going into holes. It does not feel like it totally attached as there is some rattling from side to side. My real gripe with this trimmer is the noise that it makes when going beyond the "0" setting. The comb really rattles from the vibration of the trimmer and it is pretty loud for a little device. It's annoying and could easily be fixed if the comb would just fit better. The trimming aspect is excellent. It does a great job of providing an even trim all around. The dial makes it really easy to do some fades around the edges. The trimmer is easier to use, holds a charge and gets the job done, just the packaging and comb feel cheap. Fix that rattling of the comb on the next model and you have a pretty perfect trimmer.

Philips Norelco - 3000 series Beard Trimmer I keep coming back to Norelco’s groomers and trimmers. They provide a feel of quality, with a comfortable weight and a sense of near professional smoothness, with minimal vibration. Although this trimmer is wrapped in more plastic than metal, the motor feels very strong and the actual cutting edges offer quiet, precise beard trimming. This particular design is very convenient, because Norelco has made the adjustable guide slide into distinct cutouts in the case, with stops that are obvious and effective. Or. you can just pull the guide off if you want to get close for making sharp edges in your beard or mustache. The body of the Trimmer has a solid feeling rotating drum which moves the cutter closer or further from the guide. The easy-to-open packaging includes a fabric carry case and the power wart which can be plugged in during use. The Lithium battery promises a very long use cycle.

I have been using this trimmer for several weeks and it has replaced almost all of my other hair grooming tools. The first thing I noticed when I took the trimmer from the box was the weight of the tool and quality feel of the depth dial. This is a very nice device in the hand. It is also easy to dismantle and clean with the included brush. I use the clippers without the guard to shave the top of my head before doing a wet shave with a safety razor. I also use it with the guard to groom my beard and keep the edges of my beard and mustache neat about every other day. With all this use, the trimmer arrived fully charged and I have not yet had to charge it. I waited to write this review until I had an idea how long it would last, but I eventually had to give up and write the review. The guard mechanism is smooth, allows for a range of beard lengths and completely resists being accidentally bumped down (no accidental scalping!). At the same time the guard simply pops off for detail work, a very close trim or a cleaning. I have owned a number of razors and trimmers and in my experience it would be hard to do better than this if you're looking for a versatile set of clippers.

Upgraded to this Norelco beard trimmer from a facial hair trimmer that was at least 10 years old. Wow, what a difference! There are 10 settings for the guard height that is on a easy to rotate wheel and the the trim guard easily slides in and out over the trimmer for easy cleaning. It is a wide trimmer but if you are removing a lot of beard you will need to pull the guard off and clean it often. The kit does include a cleaning brush to be used on the trimmer head itself. It is definitely no slouch when it comes to removing the hair, so you need to be careful where you are trimming, especially when not using the guard. Trying to trim your mustache with this is workable but as stated the trimmer head is pretty wide and can be hard to properly trim a mustache, but works ok as long as you are careful. The instruction state to start your trim at length 10 and move down towards 1 until you reach the desired length. I trimmed by beard at number 4 and ended up being a little too close. Personally for me 6 would be a good number. You do need to go back and forth over the beard and at different angles to be able to get an even trim. Overall I am very satisfied with this trimmer

    Budget Trimmer Easy to Use

The 3000 series trimmer comes with nothing but a charger and the removable guard that moves to either lengthen or shorten whiskers or other hair depending on a setting chosen via a rotary "wheel" with numbers indicating the chosen length. It's a less-expensive scaled-down version of other models priced higher. This model is plain black, and has a rubbery-like textured surface making it easier to grip and not slip out of your hands. It did a great job of bringing goatee and mustache to my desired length, and the whiskers looked even and neat. The blades are very much like a miniature hair cutting trimmer meant for the head, and some care should be taken when using the trimmer with the adjustable guard removed. The user manual folded up and included warns that without the guard every bit of hair is removed. You should also realize that delicate skin near your ears or mouth could be vulnerable to the sharp little blades. I am happy to add this trimmer to my arsenal of whisker maintenance tools, and the price should make others happy also.

The Philips Norelco 3000 series Beard Trimmer provides a quality trim for facial hair without breaking the bank. Right off the bat, I should note this is a fairly basic trimmer. But it does have some nice features. The Lift & Trim Comb slots in easily and works well. There is a dial on the trimmer that sets the length of the trim by raising or lowering the comb. It is easy and intuitive to use. The trimmer itself is battery-powered, so you can charge it and then not worry about cords. The rubberized grip feels comfortable and easy to hold. It has a serious look that indicates it means business. As for how well it trims, in a word - excellently! In anticipation of helping me test the trimmer, by 20-year-old son went a couple of weeks without shaving. By the time I placed the trimmer in his hands, he was looking quite scraggly. But the little 3000 trimmer proved more than ready for the challenge. Note, it is not waterproof, so don't try to use it as a wet shaver. If you're looking for a terrific trimmer at a reasonable price, I can confidently recommend this little guy to you.

For A Basic Trimmer It Gets The Job Done

If you're looking for a rather basic cordless beard trimmer then the Philips Norelco - 3000 will essentially get the job done for you. This is really a no-frills kind of trimmer and as long as your expectations are in line for what this trimmer is then you'll be happy. Some of the pros for this trimmer are the quality of the blades, how fast it charges from empty to usable, does an excellent job at trimming your facial hair, and it can serve as a handy night light while charging thanks to the incredibly bright green LED that indicates charging. Some of the cons are mediocre build quality, the selector for determining trim length is a bit loose, and no attachments. This trimmer is replacing another Phillips Norelco trimmer that I had been using for six years so I'm a believer in the brand. If you keep your expectations in line for a trimmer in this price range then you'll be content with purchasing and using this one.

The Norelco 3000 is great for those that have short or medium (like me) length beards! At no point was there any tugging or pulling when trimming. A definite plus for me is there isn't a need for a bazillion different sized attachments for length selection. It is all included with a special dial on the product itself. It appears to be very sturdy with enough "heft" in the hand to know that this is a quality product. Also the rubberized grip keeps it safely in my hand. With my medium sized beard, I find that dialing in the length at 6mm was about perfect. And there is no need to worry about the blades becoming dull, as they are self sharpening! This is definitely an upgrade to my old (non-wireless) beard trimmer. If you have a small to medium in length beard - I don't see why this would not also work for you. Norelco has proven again that it makes a quality product!

    Basic trimmer

The Philips Norelco 3000 is a decent basic trimmer. I like the integrated guard and ease of adjustability, though I wish it had higher settings. At the highest (10) it cuts around the length of a #2 trimmer guard. The trimmer is a little buzzy, but it rattles extensively with the guard extended. Another minor annoyance I noticed is the power button seems to be hinged and sometimes sticks. Beyond these minor issues it does a good job trimming your beard, assuming you keep it at a relatively short length. If you are shopping for a basic low cost trimmer to fit your budget, this one may make the ‘cut’.

This is hands down the best $20 purchase. I have had another philips beard trimmer which was also pretty good but a little expensive. The battery came charged and I used it quite a few times before it needed charging. First off, the thing is super quiet compared to the other ones i've used. But most importantly, this thing trims very well. I only have to go over the areas one time to trim my facial hair. After the battery is dead, it needs to be charged for 8 hours for a full charge. However, you can charge it for fifteen minutes to get a quick five minutes of trimming time for emergencies. I love this little kit and would recommend it if you're looking for something to replace your current grooming setup!

This is my second Norelco beard trimmer. The last one went for over ten years before the battery finally gave out - and I'm very pleased to say that it looks like this one is no less durable. There are a lot of metal parts, it seems decently sealed against small hairs, and it's easy to clean. And, while this probably goes without saying, it does a pretty good job of trimming your beard too. The only real issue I found after a week of use is that the guide isn't quite as precise as advertised. There's just a little play in the mechanism, meaning that the lowest two length settings (1 and .5mm) have no perceptible difference. But apart from that, I have to say that this delivers exactly what is promised.

I am going out of my way to write this positive review. I actually bought this for my brother as a gift and an expensive Braun for myself. Long story short I ended up returning the Braun after one week because it was horrible! This Phillips on the other hand has been the easiest to use for a quick shave or trim before I leave for work. It has an adjustable guard so I can trim my mustache and beard at their different levels. Even my old $40 electric razor doesn't come as close as this guy. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an excellent razor under $30

Unless you want to look like a lumberjack, having a trimmer is something that a goatee/beard will need at least every once in a while. This trimmer has a 90 minute battery life in addition to a dial that lets you set the length of the cut "by the number". This is a great addition if you ever want to do a "fade" or other graduated trim of your facial hair. I've only gotten to use the trimmer once, but it made for a clean, even cut of my beard - what more could you ask for? I would definitely recommend this trimmer to anyone who is looking for one - it does the job, does it right and comes from a company that has been around for a long time - what's not to love?

I had to replace my Remington trimmer that I bought from Best Buy probably 10 years ago because the battery would no longer hold a charge and would not work when plugged in. I wanted a trimmer that could run off the battery as well as when plugged in. After hours of research and all the positive reviews I bought this Norelco trimmer and have to say that it is an outstanding trimmer. Trims much closer than my previous trimmer and is very comfortable to use. I have always had Norelco shavers but had never bought one of their trimmers. Sure glad I did this time. Hopefully it lasts as long as my previous trimmer.

The beard trimmer is very good. Norelco really knows what they are doing. I've owned other Norelco board trimmers. This trimmer does not disappoint. The time it operates off a charge is very good. It lasts a long time on a single charge. The 10 different settings gives you different options for your beard. The settings are consistent. The blade lifts the beard for the proper cut height. The product is comfortable in your hand and is easy to operate as the adjustments are just a 'click' a away. The trimmer cleans easily as well. Clearly this is an excellent trimmer.

My old beard trimmer quit on me so I had to purchase a new one. I had originally purchased a different beard trimmer from a different brand, and more expensive, but I did not like it. So I exchanged for this one and I love it. The battery lasts for a long time, the blades are sharp, and the guard is easy to use. I like the dial to change the height setting of the guard. The trimmer is good with the guard on and also for lining up the beard edges with the guard off. It is sturdy and easy to hold.
