Compact without being cheap

I like this trimmer a lot more than some of the other compact and portable trimmers I’ve tried. The construction is nice and doesn’t feel cheap, and I can say the same about the carrying case. It’s easy to disassemble the head to clean it out when necessary, and when in use it glides well without getting stuck or causing nicks. I am glad that there are two blades rather than just one - it allows the trimmer to stay compact but keeps it from having low enough performance to be only really useful for touchups. Part of me thinks that the carrying case would be better if it had room to hold the charger cable as well, but the battery life is honestly good enough that I think it’s fine without it.
Overall, I really like this trimmer. It doesn’t feel cheaper for being a compact model, just a smaller version of the same thing I’m used to, with the same good performance. The case is really nice, and it’s the perfect size and shape to toss in the bottom of a bag and carry about with you. I’d absolutely recommend keeping one of these around for situations where you’re out and about and need a trim, or for travel.

• Portability
This portable electric shaver is great for travel and can fit in some of my pockets but easily fits in your bag without taking up much space. If you're worried about it turning on in your bag you can set a travel lock to avoid that mishap.
• Performance
I noticed that it didn't provide the smoothest shave but it was enough to clean up the facial hair and create distinct lines to separate overgrowth in some parts of the face and shape the beard.
• Battery Life
I haven't had to charge this shaver and the claims are that it can last up to 2 months on a single charge. I don't use it for more than a minute at a time since I use it for the overgrowth instead of doing a complete shave. If you're in a need of a quick shave and you ran out of power, you can charge this shaver for 5 minutes and it'll give you enough for one full shave.
• Comfort
I will also mention that each time I have used this shaver I have done so without any shaving cream and the blades are comfortable and doesn't feel like it is pulling on my hairs.
• Conclusion
I really like this shaver simply for the portability factor. I can carry this around with me in my bag on my work trips without having to worry about bringing additional shaving cream of aftershave and can feel confident that I will still have enough power to last me a full trip. It is also very convenient to be able to quick charge in a facial hair emergency.

I have been traveling more a day or two at a time and I saw this shaver as a way to cut back on luggage space. Generally I use a 4 foil style shaver, and prefer foils in general. I had a norelco rotary dhaver before my current main shaver for about 15 years, but barely used it because I thought it did not get that close, and it irritated me more than a foil. I saw this and I liked the size and price on it, so I figured I'd give it a try. It comes with a USB proprietary charging cord, no brick, the shaver, and a little travel case. Pretty standard. The feel/build on this is good, doest feel slippery, and not flimsy. Build is a lot like regular daily use shaver. That being said, using this reminds me again of why I don't like rotary shavers. I have a slow grow beard, my sparse shoter wiskers I seem to have to hover over and rotate the unit a lot over the spot i’m shaving before it nips the hair. That leads to more irritation. Getting up under the nose for the mustache region is not as easy, I feel I don't get as close with because the blade is away from the edge a bit. All that being said, my purpose for this will be traveling, and generally I don't travel for business as much as I used to, mainly visiting family and such. I generally only shave every other day when I do travel, and that is where I think this will function better. I remember these rotary blades struggle with short on me, but about 48 hours it did an acceptable job. The rpm’s on this seem a bit slower than my old one, but I think it’s the actually same because it is very quiet. That will work well if sharing a room with my family on vacation. I get up earlier than them and this won't wake them. I should have went with a small single foil shaver like my very first one I had 30 plus years ago. It was slightly bigger, but probably worth it. Again, I know this is more of a travel/touch up shaver and it's my face type that likely makes it not as effective. It does what it supposed to do, but for me I should have chose another. I will keep this and use it as intended, but I would not reccomend this to friends and family. It loses points in function and performance for me. Keeps it's score in value, build, size, and purpose. I like how quiet it is also. It's 3 of 5 stars for me.

For Shaving in a Pinch

I don't travel as much as I used to, but packing my full-size shaver was always kind of a pain because of the real estate it took in my toiletry bag. Enter the Philips Norelco Compact Shaver. It is about half the size when loaded in its carrying case as my full size shaver. That alone is a big win as I don't generally carry a large bag so space is always a premium. The unit is a twin blade model and is a slim rectangular build. It feels comfortable in the hand and is pretty lightweight. Battery operation seems good and should probably allow for at least a week of shaving if you are doing it once a day. Comes with a nice compact case and really does feel like a nice package. So why only three stars? Well, the point of a shaver is to shave and that is where it is pretty middle of the road. In a pinch it does the job, but it takes several passes and starts to irritate my skin to get a close shave. If you are someone who only wants to do quick touch-ups and leave it your car then this shaver has your name written all over it. If you want to travel with it as a replacement for a larger shaver you have at home then keep your expectations in check. Again, it will get the job done, but it won't be the closest shave. Overall, I think what Philips Norelco has done here is a solid job for a niche audience. Just know what you are getting into.

I was looking forward to using the Philips Norelco Compact Shaver. It came in a a very nice zippered travel case. First impression, of the Philips Norelco Compact Shaver, it has a nice solid feel, while being compact. I currently have and had many Norelco hair care products and have generally been satisfied and impressed. Unfortunately, the Philips Norelco Compact Shaver, I feel was kind of a let down. It has two parallel, floating shaver heads, which requires overlapping motion to get all facial hairs. The floating head springs seem kind of soft, which does not apply enough pressure for a close shave. The floating heads actually sink below the surface level of the shaver, which basically guarantees not being a close shave. The surface of the shaver doesn't glide across moist skin as well. Completely dry skin it glides satisfactorily. I can't comment on lubricated skin.
Overall, the Philips Norelco Compact Shaver just would not be my shaver of choice for a travel shaver. I would and have packed other Norelco for travel use. The nice compact size does not justify it being a recommended travel charger. Would it work in a pinch, yes. But not a go to shaver.
