This shaver shaves very well. It doesn't irritate my skin like many other electric shavers and manual razors do. I subtracted one star because the trimmer is an attachment, not integrated into the shaver body. It makes it much less convenient to use. I subtracted a second start because the instructions on how to reassemble the shaver after doing a thorough cleaning are horribly confusing. My wife and I spent over 30 minutes trying to figure them out before finding a 40-second YouTube video that showed clearly how to do it.

I have used razor blades, electric foil shavers, and electric rotary shavers. Prior to the Norelco S9000 Prestige, I have been using a Norelco 5000 series. The packaging of the S9000 is excellent. It looks and feels like a premium product. That quality continues as you open the box and reveal an extremely nice looking electric rotary shaver. The shaver is lighter than my previous razor and feels great in my hand. The chrome well let everyone know you didn't skimp on on your razor. I would've preferred to have some kind of charging stand, but that's more superficial. The shaver itself comes with several features (nanotech blades, BeardAdapt sensor, and rings coated with metallic pigments to reduce friction) that seem more like marketing gimmicks. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. What I can tell you is that the shave is better than my 5000 series. The S9000 Prestige has three speed/power settings: Sensitive, Normal, and Fast. Sensitive is the slowest speed but still provides a "thorough" shave. Normal would be for everyday use and fast is supposedly when you're in a hurry. For a razor that claims to not need multiple (or at least fewer) passes, I'm not sure if these settings really have an impact. After using the S9000 a couple of and playing around with the different speeds, I couldn't tell that any speed worked better/worse than the other. It might make more of a difference you had an extremely thick beard or longer growth. In any case, the shave you get is as close as you can get to a read razor blade shave. I found that the cutting heads followed the contours of my face well so that definitely minimized the number of times I had to go over areas. One thing I really like about this razor is that it shows a detailed 3 digit battery charge percentage. Based on my use (using the normal speed), a full shave takes about 3-4%. My other Norelco razor just has a 3-bar battery indicator, but I can easily get 1.5 week of shaving off of a single shave. It looks like the S9000 will exceed that! My only other critique (aside from wishing there was a charging stand) is the way the cutting heads are removed/opened for cleaning. My 5000 series has a hinge which you can easily flip open, clean, and leave open to let dry. The S9000 lacks the hinge so it totally detaches each time you open it. I worry it may come detached or get lost because of this. I prefer the hinged version. In conclusion, I am very impressed with the S9000 Prestige. It definitely out performs earlier models so you're getting a better shave for the extra $$ that you're spending. I also like that you can shave wet (foam or gel) or dry. You can also get the shaver completely wet like while you're in the shower so it's very versatile. Whichever way you want to shave or where you choose to shave, you'll be impressed. i haven't purchased a new Norelco in about ten years, so when it was time to do so i decided to get a high-end model. i can't complain about anything with this product, but i will say i'm pretty underwhelmed. i feel like the overall shaving experience is comparable to the ten-year-old worn out Norelco that i was replacing. i should have just gotten the model that was half the price of this one...

I've tried multiple Norelco razors and this is definitely the best, especially for 3-5 day stubble.

I have owned 4 Norelco shavers and the best WAS the the ARCITEC 1060x with a great stand!! The others including the last 9000 series the blades were okay, but when trying to get the same replacement heads Norelco stops making them and the after-markets are terrible making you buy a new shaver hopefully from Norelco they think... This new 9000 Prestige Has the same head arrangement with the plastic rings that wear out quickly . So when they get worn and you open the head for cleaning the parts all fall out into the sink then the drain??? also my particular unit ie very hard to put in the cord?? (and yes it is inserted the correct way) I find the shave to be a bit rough on the skin irrupting it, but when done it is a close shave after many passes. for the price it should have a stand included. Not worth the $300 price tag to me.

I'm middle aged now, and only wished I would have bought one of these somewhere in my lifetime before now. Why? This is by far the nicest shaves I've ever had. Once I splurged for a barber's shave, and even that wasn't as close a shave as this provides. I've bought Philips Norelco razors for many years and they are really decent, no doubt, they last a long time, inexpensive, great battery life, easy to clean, etc. The thing is, there is no comparison to this. This provides a super close shave, with 3 speeds to get an even closer shave due to the high speed of the blades, or you can slow it down and not go quite as close. As recommended, try with a low or medium speed before you work your way up to HIGH because if not you may get some razor burn until your skin adjusts - no rash for me, but I could feel that I've shaved closer than ever with this. The body of this has a luxury feel to it, and it really is amazing. There is a charging window that shows you the status of the charge, a reminder to rinse after shaving, a speed indicator, etc. and is motion sensitive so just picking it up displays these things. Cleaning is a breeze. You can take the blade body off and rinse easily under the tap, you can rinse where the blades contact the rotors, and you can remove the blade covers and rinse everything out there too. As with all of their razors, this is easy to clean, and simple to do. Thankfully there is no silly bathing base to have to use or crazy stuff to do to keep it clean - it is so simple and yet such a wonderful shave. There is a beard adapter included that you can put on this, a standard charger, and an absolutely wonderful hard shell case that won't crush in your luggage. I was able to put the razor, charger, and user guide in that case without any issue. I'm so glad I've had the opportunity to give this a try, and will never buy anything less than this next time. I will certainly change blades and keep this as long as I can, and eventually will replace it with a then current version. A good shave is like a feeling of getting a shower or putting on freshly cleaned clothes - it feels good. This razor, while not the cheapest of their offerings, is worth it when you get such a decent shave.

This razor is simply amazing, not only is it super quiet but it shaves super close with out any irritation. This razor is definetly worth the cost. This one is a home run
