My experience with the new SP9860
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A decent shave , but maybe not quite as good as I used to get with my 15 year old ArciTec Phillips/Norelco , and certainly not as close as a blade . Lots of bells and whistles so I have concerns for longevity - I have no illusions that this one will last 15 years without problems . My old arcitec did last that long . Cleaning is more of a hassle than the arcitec - just flip the heads open and rinse . This model requires that you pry off the cutting head holder , then remove a retaining ring , to lift out the cutter and rinse the matching part . Maybe the process will get easier with practice ? Instructions warn that the cutters are matched individually to the mating part , so I clean only one at a time when the retaining ring is removed . Replacing the retaining ring was not easy for my old fumblefingers ! I do like the updated flat charging system , and the zippered case .

Worth Every Penny
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent buy! While the price was a kick in the teeth upfront, this shaver is on another level! It’s quiet, it’s sharp, it’s fast, and I can easily shave with or without shaving cream/gel. The Wireless charging pad is also very convenient. As someone who has sensitive skin and hasn’t used an electric shaver in a while, I am VERY pleased with this product.

Fantastic quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i’ve only use this razor once but I’m very impressed with the shave and the build quality. It feels fantastic in your hand and has a great build quality. some have asked the question if it can be charged with a cord as well and many purchasers have said no, with Norelco answering yes. I want to help clear that up at the bottom of the handle there’s a small hole that you can stick a paper clip in and that cover will pop off revealing a standard Norelco plug-in so yes it can be charged both wirelessly and with a cord that is not provided but if you were a previous owner of a Norocco razor it’s the same cord. This is my third norelco razor in over 20 years all of which lasting over 10 years each so I am hoping the same for this one.

Great shaver!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great shaver, took me a little bit to get used to dry shaving, but it was easy and painless with this shaver! No hair pulling at all. It just took a couple of passes compared to a regular shaver (I have thick facial hair). It did leave my skin a little dry, however I don't blame the shaver, I live in a very dry weather area, so perhaps I should try wet shaving next time, you can do that with this shaver! It can be used either wet or dry! It comes with a trimmer attachment to, which is great. I like the included qi wireless charger, it may work with other qi enabled devices, I have not tried, but will do so with a phone soon, since the qi is a standard. You have to clean it after every shave, which is easy just rinsing it. The manual says you have to replace the blades after a long while, so time will tell how long the original one lasts, I just hope the replacements are not that expensive. In all, after using it, no way I'm going back to regular shavers!

Wow, an electric razor that finally works!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the years i have had many electric shavers, usually the expensive ones ($2-300.00), only to use for a few weeks then switch back to the precision of a blade. I'll use my blade for a couple years then get a wild hair and buy a fancy electric shaver. Then switch back and so on and so on... Well recently i saw this electric razor at BestBuy, with the wireless charging pad, it caught my attention in that it was wet / dry and could charge wirelessly, no dumb cord needed, i have enough in my bathroom sink area as it is (thanks Alexa). I have been using it about 3 weeks now and can honestly say, without a doubt, bar NONE, this is the best electric shaver i have ever used, it gives me a extremely close shave, dry with no lotion or anything, only time i use a razor is just to get my sideburns clean, that little area which is hard to get with any electric razor. Im extremely impressed with this particular electric shaver. I would easily toss this in my bag and take on a trip with me, i'm pretty sure you can unplug the wireless charging pad and use that power cable as a direct cable into the electric razor. Cleaning it is a breeze, it just pops open, rinse it with water, let it dry and your back in business. If you can afford this, and your picky about a VERY close shave i would highly recommend this electric razor. I'm not small guy either, i have a pretty rough stubble on my face and this thing just performs 5 stars. Ok, now i'm late to work writing a dumb review! Hope this helps!

Everything about the S9000 says high quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Philips Shaver S9000 Prestige with Qi-Charger - Opening the packaging of the newest premium — I mean prestige —- shaver from Philips will remove any doubts you might have about where this shaver fits in the world of electrics. Everything says high quality: the brushed aluminum metal finish, premium switching and multi-speed settings, informative LCD display, and overall feel in your hand are all perfect. The back of the shaver has a grippy, rubber-like, embossed surface. This model adds an elegant wireless charging plate that is molded so the shaver always rests with the ideal charging orientation. The carry case is a bit larger than necessary, but it should hold anything else in your shaving routine. You don’t get a cleaning station, which I never replenish properly, anyway. I prefer my own cleaning rituals. Philips approach to trimmers is a separate twist off/on accessory that can be swapped with their newest cutting head assembly. This new cutter assembly is sleek and simple to open for cleaning, but it is plastic, not metal. You can feel the surge of power when you switch the motor on, but this may be the quietest electric shaver I’ve ever owned. PERFORMANCE: Starting your shaving experience reveals the first compromise. There is NO way to charge other than the wireless plate for THIS model and there is NO quick charge. It is definitely slower than the typical charging brick. and it takes up more space. But the plate is so cool. I don’t see this as an issue; but, you might. A typical shave for me uses about 11% of the charge. This means I can take an 9 day vacation while leaving the charger home. Dry shaving wasn’t difficult and was very close and comfortable. Even after a few days of beard growth these new cutters had NO difficulty staying comfortable or getting close. NO hair pulling. If you think you know Philips rotary shavers, you need to give this new design a try, And yet, I’m going to suggest adding a pre-shave lotion or shaving under a shower or with a shaving cream. It elevates the whole experience to the level of a facial Spa treatment. Your partner is going to thank you. RECOMMENDATIONS: I’ve switched between foil and rotary shavers over the years. For me, the high-end shavers of either type have proven their value. I appreciate the added comfort and closeness. This Philips is easily one of the best. The Philips Prestige 9000 series adds the cool wireless charger with its pluses and minuses. There are probably other versions of this shaver without the Qi charger for a lower price, but I like this whole package as is.

Fantastic Razor!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been a foil shaver user for many years (Panasonic ES-LV81 Arc5 for about the past 5 years, and another Panasonic and a Braun before that). The ES-LV81 still works fine, but since it’s getting up there in age, I was ready to buy something new and relegate the Panasonic to backup duty. I’ve always been curious about the Norelco rotary shavers, and with the especially favorable reviews this S9000 Prestige received, decided to give it a try. The packaging is nice, and the razor is clearly a premium-quality product. One small feature I really like is how the display shows the battery charge level just by picking up or nudging it (no need to turn it on to check the battery). A minor annoyance, the clear sticker they put over the screen left a lot of sticky residue when I peeled it off, which required considerable effort to remove. Coming from a couple of decades of foil razors, the most immediate and noticeable difference was how much quieter it is. Instead of a fairly loud and intense buzz sound, though the rotary is not silent by any means, it has a much calmer whirring sound, so I’m a lot less likely to wake my wife up when shaving early in the morning. In terms of closeness, I’d characterize it as being indistinguishable from the Panasonic (which is lauded as probably the best on the market in this regard). For a few days I shaved one side of my face with the Panasonic, and the other side with the Norelco Prestige, and could not detect any difference in appearance or feel of the end result between the two. The Panasonic has always struggled to take care of those longer whiskers after 2-4 days of growth, especially the thinner/curlier ones on my neck, and I’m often left with my face and neck feeling a bit beat-up after that kind of shave. The Prestige does a noticeably better job here, as it handles these longer hairs a lot easier and quicker. It’s hard to understand why Norelco chose not to include a cleaning station with this very pricey, top-of-the-line razor, but this doesn’t directly affect me much, as even though the past three shavers I’ve owned have come with one of these, I’ve gradually moved away from using them, in favor of manual cleaning (for the ES-LV81, I just used the cleaning station as a dryer / charger). Doing a daily quick rinsing of the Norelco is easy, but removing each head for the recommended more thorough monthly cleaning is a bit tedious. If I had to do this every day, I would not want to keep this razor, but only having to do it once a month is no big deal. Though a few of the professional and user reviews I read on this product weren’t thrilled about the wireless Qi charging, I really like it. I think the biggest complaint they had is that charging is significantly slower, but this is a non-issue for me, as in my entire decades of using these kinds of shavers, never once have I found myself in a situation where the battery was unexpectedly dead and I had to hurry and charge it to shave right then. And that scenario is all but impossible with the Prestige, because not only is the charge state very readily recognizable on the screen, but it also gives you a warning beep when the battery is low (indicating that there is only enough charge left for one more shave), prompting you that it’s time to charge. I prefer to not charge after every shave, opting instead to let the battery get down to 20-30% before charging, as I think it’s better for the battery’s health vs. keeping it fully charged all the time. So, I just keep it on a washcloth next to the charger, and when it does need to be charged, it’s completely effortless to set it down on the charger (of course, in all fairness, it doesn’t take much effort to plug a wire in). I’d say the only real negative about the Norelco Prestige for me is that the case it comes with is quite large, partially due to head of the shaver being less slim than a foil shaver, and also because there’s space for the Qi charging pad. When I travel, it’s usually only for a week at the most, so I typically don’t bring along the charger anyway, and I’d really rather not have this huge case taking up space in my bag. So, I found an inexpensive smaller case on Amazon, and also picked up a plastic protective cap as well (it’s inexplicable as to why Norelco didn’t at least include this cap, as that is standard equipment for pretty much every razor on the market).

With three speeds, I get a clean, close shave.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so impressed by the caring case, which does a great job protecting the shaver in storage or on the go. Charging is so cool. Just plug in the USB cable into the transformer of really any USB port that can support charging, and the modern wireless charger does its thing. The ring glows to let you know you've placed the shaver correctly into its recessed dish. After a week, my beard and face were accustomed to the triple header's whirling blades. No problem since I've used an electric shaver on and off since I borrowed my Dad's Norelco back in the '70's. Cleaning the blades are quicke. Pop off the blades head and run the whole thing under the tap. Its able to shave wet or dry. I use lectric shave as it helps the head glide easier over my face. No razor burns for me! Also comes with a trimmer attachment for grooming side burns, and other hairlines (eye brows for me). Just pop off the triple head from the top and snap in the trimmer. simple and convenient. Besides the great shave, the styling is handsome. Built in display shows charge left. I used about 15 % in four days.

Converted diehard disposable guy to electric!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for husband (after a TON of research!!!) when a shoulder injury left him physically unable to shave with his preferred disposable blade type razor. For 30+ years he'd rebuffed my suggestions to try an electric shaver (disposable blades are ridiculously expensive!!) as he said he had many years ago and they were awful. (He does have seriously thick facial hair so I could see shaving being a challenge w/electric.) But the verdict... he LOVES this thing and regrets not trying one again sooner. Says there is absolutely no pulling (his experience/complaint before) and he gets a much closer/smoother shave than with the old style-- and in much less time. Only drawback- very pricey upfront, will have to see real cost over time.

Extremely impressed by this shaver
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a tough beard and sensitive skin. I’d used Norelco shavers for a couple decades until trying the SensoTouch 3D (1250) which tore my face up. Switched to Braun for a decade and loved how closely they shaved while I just put up with the loud noise. Finally tried a Panasonic Arc 5 a year ago and am not impressed by the noise or awkward feel while using it, however it gets remarkably close. Finally, I decided to try the Norelco 9000 Prestige after reading many reviews and watching numerous videos. It looked amazing. Out of the box, it is well balanced and has the best feel in-hand of any shaver I’ve ever tried. I was impressed by how effortlessly it cut down a 3-day growth of beard, not pulling once. It’s been just over 3 weeks now of daily shaving. I’ll wet-shave about half the time (wow! Best results) and the other half just a light, dry shave. So far, I’m extremely pleased with the closeness, comfort and efficiency of this shaver. The wireless charging pad is very convenient and tops off the shaver within minutes of each 5-minute use. There is definitely a technique to use with Norelco shavers. A lighter touch on the face, moving it in a circular motion works best. The only drawback to this shaver is the hefty price.

This Norelco is outstanding in every respect
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really enjoying my new Norelco from Best Buy. Now I have admittedly not done a personal “study” of every major electric shaver, I know that this shaver does everything very, very well. A very neat charger. Cleans easily. Readout is bright and clear to discern. And MOST importantly, a great, close shave. Okay, if I had to find a “CON” it might be not having a self-contained POP-UP trimmer. It is a little inconvenient to have to pull off the existing shaver head and swap out the trimmer (btw, the trimmer, once attached, works great too !) Oh, only other issue worth even mentioning...price is admittedly a bit of a hard-swallow. I always say, though: “You get what you pay for !” And I believe that is very true with this shaver. Recommended !

Generational improvement as usual for this brand.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this because it can easily handle multiple days growth compared to previous generations. Being a different form than the 9000 series and using wireless charging, it will not go directly into the cleaning device if you have one however, the shaving head swaps into the 9000 series and can be cleaned that way if you have a cleaner that works. This is a clearly superior shaving head design with bigger whisker chambers and better cutting heads. When I got it I had six days growth, shaved right through it unlike the previous generation. The Norelco shavers are definitely improving per generation. I have used foil shavers but it does not take long before a chunk of foil gets eaten out leaving a hole so the rotary shavers can take what I give them. I should mention that these heads are good for two years, not one. The wireless charging pad following industry standards which was a wise engineering choice, will charge cellphones with wireless charging as well. The travel case holds all of it and you have the bonus of having a wireless charger with you. It works on 220 volts just fine when traveling as I am on vacation in Vietnam. You'd be hard pressed to find anything these days that will not work on 220 just as well as 110 but I wanted to clarify that you can travel with confidence after spending this much money on a system.

Nice!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spoiled myself with this thing; I know. But it's the best shaver I've ever owned! I had to quit using a blade due to ingrown hairs and skin irritation, so I started using a clipper-style beard groomer. It did okay, but kept nipping my skin on my neck and it still left the skin irritated. I saw the reviews for this and decided to give it a try. I'm about 3 weeks in and my face is liking this a *ton* better than the other ways I've tried for shaving. Pros: * As my skin and facial hair are getting used to the shaver, the shave is getting better and better. * Has 3 speed settings for shaving comfort. * Once you've removed and reattached the blades several times, they loosen up and are easy to remove for cleaning. It's a bit stiff at first, but they do loosen up over time / use. * LED power display. * Wireless Qi charging! The pad works with all other Qi-compatible devices. * Others left out for brevity. Cons: * Pretty darn expensive, but my face is thanking me.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a less expensive Phillips Norelco rotary shaver with this one in hopes of treating myself to the benefits of their highest end shaver. Well it did not disappoint. Close shave to rival a blade. Love the design and digital charge indicator. Easy to clean and maintain. I attached a photo showing how I'm using a cheap elastic wrist band to secure the shaver to the charger allowing it to stand on a socket shelf I have installed in my bathroom next to a mirror. Saves space. Easy and quick to remove and replace allowing the device to charge and store efficiently.

Amazing Razor!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best razor I ever had, and one would expect so for the money. It's well worth it - quite the piece of art in and of itself. Besides the amazing design and build quality there is also the performance. It does not disappoint as the performance is on the same level as the design. Cuts clean and easy with three speed levels for those with sensitive skin. Super long battery life with ultra modern wireless charging included. Have had it for over a month and have over 50% charge. No regrets and would buy again in a heartbeat.
