Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the Series 3000 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver's excellent shave quality and long battery life. Many appreciate its ease of use and the inclusion of a convenient pop-up trimmer. While some users mentioned minor issues with cleaning and the lack of a carrying case, the positive feedback on shaving performance and features outweighs these concerns.

Review for Philips Norelco - Series 3000 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver - Precision Black/Black Metallic Chrome I’m very impressed with the close shave and quiet running of this electric razor. It’s easy to clean under running water and can be used with or without shave cream. I haven’t tried it with shave cream but it worked great dry. While it comes with a cover that doubles as a “stubble” guard — giving you a three-day beard look — it does not come with a carrying case. It does charge quickly and runs for almost an hour on a charge!

I should confess first that I really HATE shaving. I find it to be tedious and over the years I started skipping a day here and there, until now I only shave 2 or 3 times per week. The scruffy look seems to be the style at work these days, so I fit in just fine. I've used this shaver several times now over the last week and I'm loving it. First, it's a very quick and convenient way to shave. That helps with the tedious problem, so I might actually shave more often now. It also gave nearly as close and smooth of a shave as my traditional shaving cream and disposable blade. I was concerned it might cause irritation, but so far it hasn't been a problem at all. It's also been very easy to run under hot water to clean the blades after I'm done. Time will tell if the blades remain sharp and don't cause irritation or pulling of hairs. The instructions say the blades should be replaced yearly, so hopefully that means they remain sharp for at least that long. A replacement set of blades appears to be $25, so that's a fairly significant expense if you have to replace them more often. The battery charges very quickly and lasts plenty long for a full shave. In fact, if I forget to charge it I'm pretty sure I can get two sessions out of it. Another thing I like is how quiet the shaver is--it wasn't as loud as I expected the first time I turned it on. The only disappointing thing was it didn't come with a travel case, but it looks like you can pick one of those up for about $10.

    Great Electric Razor

This is the 3rd electric razor I've ever had. I've never been extremely happy with them. I'm happy with this one. I've tried both wet and dry, and wet works better for me. I use a little shaving cream and it helps. I shave every other day and the batter lasted almost two week. But I chose to charge rather than getting an indicator because it had been so long and I didn't want it to die. I'd say I'm using it 3-5 minutes each time, including the pop up trimmer. My previous disappointment with electrics is what I think most people have, that it just doesn't get as close as a standard razor. I hated that I looked like I shaved earlier in the day, right after shaving. This gets pretty close. I do some spot cleaning up afterwards with a standard razor around my sideburns and jaw right under my ears. It might be that I'm a little new to this, but I haven't been able to get those well yet. The pop up sideburn trimmer works well, but I just like the cleaner line that I can do with a standard razor. Also, do not miss the razor burn that I used to get. Running this electric over the same spot a few times does not irritate my skin the way that it would with a standard razor. My hair grows in all different directions and I always have to shave in a few directions on a few different spots on my face. I would recommend this shaver.

An easy way into the Norelco approach to shaving.

Philips Norelco - Series 3000 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver This is one of Norelco’s less expensive 3-head rotary electrics. Could’a fooled me. Yes, it’s lighter and has less chrome and settings, but if that keeps the price down, I’m OK with that. It has all the important stuff: 3 rotary “ComfortCut” blades on floating heads, a trimmer and it’s lithium rechargeable. They’ve added a stubble guide for those who are interested. This model is specifically described as wet/dry. Norelco rotaries always surprise me, because the quiet, gentle operation hides how effective they are. I’m expecting little to happen from a lightweight, quiet, no vibration shaver. But, sure enough, my face is smoother after a few round trips. I think I’m faked out by the minimal vibration. This rotary design can spin up these 3 cutters to high speeds, but quietly. If you’re new to rotary shavers, I’m going to recommend an electric pre-shave lotion because it provides some lubrication. The Noreleco gets very close. This Norelco rotary is an especially nice introduction for shaving novices. I prefer taking these simpler rechargeable shavers on vacation or even as I’m heading somewhere where I need to knock down my aging, bristle-like beard. I can recommend this as an easy way into the Norelco approach to shaving.

I say very good as I've owned quite a few of these over the years. While they've gotten better, I still revert back to the standard razor when i want the baby smooth feel. I've found Norelco to be better than most, but there's still nothing that can beat a blade. I charged, and then ran this for a week, probably 3-5 minutes at a clip, there was no discernible loss of power. That's the good thing about lithium batteries, they pretty much hold their level unlike ni-cads which can degrade significantly between charge cycles. There's no cradle included, but I really don't miss it - who has room in a bathroom to plug something else in anyway? I've taken to leaving the plug in a charging strip in the bedroom, and plug it in once every couple of days. The main reason i dropped this to 4 stars is more a protest than a complaint. They still haven't done much about the price of replacement blades, which can cost as much as half if not more than the price of the shaver itself - and you almost never see them on sale. So I'm pretty much in the habit of tossing these when the new one comes along. Yeah, it's wasteful, but they kind of force you into it. If the blades were like $10-$15, it's a no-brainer. I do have one complaint about the Norelco design though. I do like to disassemble the head entirely to give it a thorough cleaning, it really takes some nimble fingers & patience to get it back together right - they should work on that. All in all, I'm satisfied with the performance of this one, so along with the good battery life, wet performance, and lightweight feel, I may spring for new blades for this one. Then again, the family will be at a loss what to get me for Father's day - lol.

I picked this up to replace an old Norelco razor I've had for years. What I liked about this one was the fact that you could use it wet or dry. My original Norelco one wasn't wet-friendly, so I couldn't use it in the shower - plus, I had to shave dry. The 3000 can be used in the shower, at the sink, on wet skin or dry. I've used it across all the different ways. Using it dry is great for quick trims on the go. The shower option is nice, but I do most of my shaving over a sink, so the ability to use it wet / dry is a nice option to have. Like all other Norelco products I've had, you cannot use this plugged in, so if you let it die, you need to wait for it to recharge. I'm sure that's a safety feature of some sort, so just be aware. The 3000 says it can run for 50 minutes before needing a recharge. I usually use it throughout the week and then let it charge over the weekend. At $65 bucks too, it's actually cheaper than the old Norelco I tossed out. The blades aren't bad either, I think they're about $25 to replace, so that's not bad compared to buying straight razor cartridge replacements.

I gave this to my husband to replace his 4 year old shaver. It appears to be well made and he says it feels comfortable in his hand. He has never had a floating head shaver but really liked the way this one felt. It seems to give a closer shave. There is no bag or cleaning brush which is a real negative, but the top does flip up to allow for easy cleaning. It charged quickly the first time and the charge is holding well. It seems to run quietly. He has a full beard and doesn’t shave daily, and there’s not much surface to work on. The stubble attachment is easy to attach, but a stubble look is not for him. He really likes his new shaver and would recommend this to anyone in the market for an upgrade.

I have never been a fan of electric shavers. They never seems to give me the quality of shave I was looking for and left an unfinished kind of feeling. This shaver is a very pleasant and welcome surprise. The shave is close and effortless. Cleaning is easy. Its fits very comfortably in your hand. And is simple, simple, simple. The trimming attachment works great too. I haven't been able to even tax the battery life of this shaver, but if it ever gets depleted, there is a rapid charge feature that boosts the initial charge to give you enough battery life for one shave...just in case you are like me, fail to plan and are always running late. I LOVE THIS SHAVER.
