I've been through a number of electric shavers over the years. Most of them end up being put aside in favor of just using a disposable razor. Then I tried this product. While it's not perfect, it has done a far better job than any electric shaver I have used before. A nice close shave, without having to follow up with some of the tougher spots with a disposable. It uses a Lithium-Ion battery that I've only had to charge up once (when I got it) and according to built-in display, I don't suspect that I'll need to charge it for quite a while. The shaver has a run time of about 60 minutes on a full charge. The display also has indicators for when to clean it. Though this is recommended after each use for optimal performance. It can simply be run under the tap water from the sink and is very easy to clean. The shaving heads can be replaced (Philips recommends yearly) and it's as simple as removing the shaving heads from the body of the shaver and popping a new one on. It also includes a trimmer that is interchangeable with the shaving heads. While it can be locked for travel purposes, and comes with a protective cover for the top, it lacks a travel case/bag. This is perhaps the best electric shaver I have ever used.

I found the shave to be okay but the head is larger than the old norelco and it is awkward for me I have owned a norelco for over 40 years I guess I'll look for the lower end model. I returned it

Philips Shaver 5550 S5590/81 This shaver surprised me by its light weight and quiet operation. It feels smooth on your skin and doesn’t pull like my old shaver. It’s not as close a shave as a blade, but it is better than my old electric. If the blades last a year, I’ll be really happy! It’s cool that you can use it wet or dry, with shave cream or not, even in the shower! I’ve only used it dry; it’ll be interesting to find out if it’s a better shave with shaving cream. It’s fully charged in an hour and good for quite a few shaves. Surprisingly, you can’t leave it plugged in when you use it. It has an easy to use travel lock, but I wish it came with a carrying case — even a little bag to put it in would make it more travel friendly.

It doesn’t give you a close shave. The high speed button is in a bad position. I wish that I could take it back.

I love my new triple head electric shaver. I wash my face as usual then towel dry. Next, I prefer to use Williams Lectric Shave prep. It makes shaving a smoother experience. I use my free hand to pull and tighten the skin for a closer shave. You can feel it as you shave. After a week and no shaver rash, I am very happy. (I've owned one many years ago.) Love the easy pop open head for rinsing under the tap (for cleaning). Nice plastic cover to protect the blades. BEST FEATURE: 5-minute quick charge. Battery dead? Plug it in, shower, enough power for a quick groom. Glides across your face and feels good in your hand. Indicator lights tell you status of charge left. (Haven't tried the turbo boost yet.)

I have been shaving with this shaver for almost 3 weeks now. I am really happy with the results so far. It gives a much smoother shave than my Gillete Fusion razor but I think that's also because it cuts the shave in all direction (because of rotary blades) while with fusion razor I used to shave only in one direction. Also, it doesn't irritate my skin as much as Gillete used to. I tried both dry and wet shaves and it performed well in both modes. Turbo mode is really nice because my beard is really really hard. The turbo mode takes care of it without any issues. I mostly shave in the wet mode though. Cleaning foam and hair while shaving is super easy as you can put this under running water. The shaving blades pop up with a simple click which makes cleaning even easier. It comes with a charger and a trimmer. It charges really fast and holds the charge for a long time. I usually shave twice a week and I have gone 3 weeks without charging since the first full charge. The trimmer seems useless to me. It doesn't trim at all!! I still have tough time while shaving neck and the area below ears as it doesn't really shave very close there. It tends to leave small hair here and there. Overall, I like this more than my traditional Gillette fusion razor as it irritates my skin less, gives smoother shave and I am able to shave faster with it.

Typical performance from Norelco shavers which is a good thing. Performs as expected, gives you a nice close shave and can be used either wet or dry. I like the Turbo feature that puts the shaver in overdrive and lets you shave rather quickly. Also has trimmer that attaches seperately which works well but if you use a trimmer regularly the fact it’s not attached might be annoying. Other than that it’s a great choice for an every day reliable cordless shaver.

This cordless razor shaves substantially faster than the one I'm replacing. Charging takes an hour for about an hour of shave time. I like that you can use it wet or dry and can even use shaving cream with it if you want. The only drawback I've found is that the turbo button and the power button are so close together and similarly shaped that they are easy to confuse if you don't pay attention. Otherwise it's a great shaver that covers well. Don't expect blade closeness but it does about as good as you can expect from a cordless rotary razor.

I find that it always leaves me with unshaven facial hairs. The speed seems very slow even when you hit the turbo. It irritates my face as I attempt to press harder to get a closer shave.

The 5550 works really good with both stubble and slightly longer hair. Trimmer is nice and works well. Battery life also seems very good so far as I have been able to get multiple shavings between charges.

This Philips Norelco Shaver 5550 Model S5590 is just all right, but could be better, especially when comparing it to other Philips Norelco shavers. The 3 shaving heads appear flimsy, but they do feel comfortable against the skin. This particular model Philips Norelco Shaver just doesn’t seem to have the “oomph” required to really grab and cut the hair without going over the same area several times. However, the shaver did perform equally well both during a wet or dry shave. Cleaning both the shaver head and trimmer was quick and easy. Simply turn the razor on and run hot tap water over the shaver head or trimmer, then gently shake out any excess water from the razor before drying off the unit for storage. I thought I would try a Norelco razor after years of using a foil razor. The design of the handle makes it very easy to hold. The razor has quiet operation and easy to clean. The trimmer attachment is a nice feature. This razor does nothing for my whiskers. It might just be my needs, but, my foil razor way out performs it. I think Norelco needs to step up their product. I will Continue to purchase and use a foil type razor.

This shaver works very well. It provides a close shave and the flexible head makes it comfortable and smooth. The two best features are the blade cover that opens quickly for easy cleaning, and the trimmer that snaps on in place of the shaving head. Would be nice to have a small brush but rinsing it gets most of the hairs.
