I have a special needs son and don't feel comfortable shaving him unless it is an electric shaver. As electric shaver go, this gets the job done. Definitely not as close of a shave as a regular disposable type razor.

Reasonably priced LIghtweight Easy to handle USB charging: 5 minute charging for one shave, 40 minutes of shaving with a one hour charging. Pop up side burns trimmer, and mustache sculptor for those with lip hair. Waterproof, can even shave in the shower (not my preference, but the mechanical / electrical components are waterproof). After a shave, flip open the rotary cutting blade cover and rinse under tap water to clean. My prior razor is about 7 years old, and is one that has a countertop “rinse and charge” stand. It uses a disposable cartridge of an alcohol based cleaner and lubricant that automatically rinses the shaver through three or four cycles, and then drains the heads while it charges. All of this functions well, but I have three major complaints after years of use: the cartridges are expensive, the stand takes up a significant space on the countertop of the bathroom as well as a socket of the electrical outlet, and the refill cartridges are not recyclable. So with this "deluxe model" about every 2 months (depending on how often you push the button to flush and clean the razor) you need to replace the cartridge. I discovered you can find a do-it-yourself refill. You can take the old plastic carcass, rinse it out, and mix your own fluid that approximates quite well the brand name liquid, for much cheaper. It is a minor chore, but saves a lot of money, and keeps the plastic shell out of the landfills! However, with the simple Norelco razor, rinsing the head under the faucet is even cheaper, faster, and seems to work equally well. The razor can be plugged in when the battery needs recharging, and my bathroom socket has a USB port (how convenient) but any USB-A charger brick will work. A charging adapter is NOT included, but I have a drawer full of them, as you probably also do. So the lack of a charging puck is not a demerit to me; my drawer is already full. The packaging is entirely recyclable, with no plastic to be seen. There is no travel case supplied, but I usually toss those into the drawer and never use them again, even when traveling. So I don’t miss it, either. From a prior long experience with a Norelco rotary shaver, changing the cutting heads is an easy process, which takes about 10 minutes total. They suggest changing yearly, again depending on your frequency of usage and how rugged your facial hair is. They sell a variety of accessory products for cleaning and lubricating the heads, and I would use that every few months to get the heads back to a “like new” condition. But these products were much more reasonably priced than the automatic rinse and lube disposable cartridges I was complaining about above. So, enough of ancillary ramblings, how does it shave? Exceptionally well, in my opinion. I had a 7 year hiatus from my prior Norelco, using an alternate brand given to me as a holiday gift. So I was not jumping ship from Norelco due to any dissatisfaction, rather the brand was chosen by my wife, from Wirecutter’s top picks. Having used the Norelco now for only a week, I understand the claim made in the instruction sheet included with the razor that “it is a fact that your skin and beard need time to adjust to a new grooming system”. They will refund your money if you are dissatisfied as long as you contact them within 45 days of purchase. It is light in weight, but feels substantially well made and of good manufacturing quality. The surface is covered with an anti-slip rubber grip, for a secure hold even with wet hands. I have had my periods of shaving with a manual blade and shave lather. But working in a hospital environment, I get enough bacterial contact, that tiny nicks (one of the unavoidable results of razor blades) would often become irritated and even infected. So I ceased using a blade, and back to an electric shaver. So final conclusion, is this is not the top of the line, but a durable, very functional, and well performing shaver. I am very pleased with its price, quality, and performance. And I like having a less cluttered bathroom counter. The razor stows discretely in a drawer!

As someone who served in the military, I was required to shave on a daily basis. There are very few things worse than dragging a sharp object across your skin on a daily basis. I primarily used a triple edge razor blade and it cut pretty well, but always left bumps on my skin and in-grown hairs. I tried this type of shaver many years ago and didn’t remember how well it cut, so I decided to try this one. This shaver is very durable and can be used wet or dry. Ive used it both ways and prefer using it on a wet face. I haven’t used any shaving cream or anything, which may actually get me a closer, cleaner shave. It feels really good against my skin, but it doesn’t cut super close, so it wont replace my razor, but it does clean up my beard and neck area well enough to give me 2-3 days in between shaves. Sometimes, I hate getting out all of the stuff I need to shave with and this allows for a quick clean-up/line-up and then I’m out the door. There is a flip-up shaver that is used for lining up your mustache, beard or goatee. Its not extremely sharp, but it does the trick. The battery life seems to be good, but since I don’t use it daily, your mileage may vary. Overall, this is a good shaver from a recognizable brand and does what it’s intended to do.
