Returned the first one because it doesnt connect with app. About to return the replacement for the same issue. Philips tech support was no help. I followed the instructions exactly, made sure it was 2.5G wifi not 5G, as it stated. Did the whole Philips wifi setup and still nothing. Lamp said connected when it wasn't. I give up. Never got to try it because it never set up. Many reviews on Amazon had same issue.

Hi, thank you for leaving a review. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light. For the light it's important to know that the SleepMapper app and the Wake-Up Light can only communicate with each other when they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If your phone is connected to a 4G network, you will not be able to sync it with your Wake-up Light. This might explain the issue you're having.

If this doesn't resolve your issue, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website www.philips.com/support. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon!

Get the one that's not the smart one. My girlfriend hasn't even set up the app and just uses the regular functions and she seems content with that, but she bought the full one and hasn't fully utilized it.

The Philips SmartSleep really makes waking up in the morning a pleasure! I never would have imagined that waking up, especially after not getting enough sleep could have been pleasant, thanks to this device. The first morning I tried the wake up function, it did wake me up earlier than my alarm. I had the product facing right toward me and the bright light started gradually coming on 30 minutes before the actual alarm time. Fortunately, you can customize the brightness and how early the light comes on. I turned the brightness down just a bit and changed the light start time to 20 minutes before the alarm rather than 30. I also adjusted the lamp so it was not directly facing me. The light on this device is so pleasant, it gradually comes on until it reaches full brightness and then the wake up sound begins playing. In my case, it starts 20 minutes before my alarm. It really is nice having the light come on to gradually wake you up rather than having an alarm immediately wake you from sleeping. I also really enjoy the wake up sounds that are offered, they are very soothing and make you feel like you really are waking up in a natural and calming environment. The SleepMapper app that can be used with this product and allows you to customize all of the settings on the device. It has worked well for me, and I haven’t had any issues using it. Beyond customizing settings for the device, you can also view information on the environment in your room such as temperature and humidity, which is nice. I have not tested RelaxBreathe and Sunset beyond turning them on as I do not have trouble going to sleep. They seem like they could be useful and beneficial to those with difficulty falling asleep. RelaxBreathe turns the light on and off in an interval you set which can help you with breathing exercises for relaxation. Sunset turns the light on and then gradually dims it like a sunset. For me personally, I’m not sure about the Sunset feature as it seems to me like if you are trying to go to sleep, you wouldn’t want a light on. I can’t personally attest to either of these features though as I did not need to use them. Areas for improvement: While this product has worked great for me when it comes to waking up in the morning, there are some things that are lacking in this product. I did not find the sleep tracking to be very useful. The app doesn’t show any information beyond simply the amount of time you were in bed, and if you wake up before your alarm, you have to remember to open the app or press the button on the device to end the sleep tracking. You also have to remember to set it to track your sleep when you go to bed. I have been using the Sleep Cycle alarm clock app on my phone which provides much more detailed sleep data, and this product definitely does not replace the functionality of the Sleep Cycle app. I do not see myself using the sleep tracking feature due to the lack of sleep data that it offers. It would be nice if the sensors could be integrated with Apple HomeKit so they could be viewed in the Apple Home app as well as be used to trigger other smart home devices, assuming Apple adds that capability in the future. This device doesn’t really seem to have much integration with anything beyond the SleepMapper app. It would be nice if it had some more integrations with platforms including Philips Hue, IFTTT and Apple HomeKit. With these integrations, it could provide even more uses beyond helping individuals with going to sleep and waking up in the morning. Conclusion: Overall, this product has done an excellent job at helping me wake up in the morning. I also would imagine that it could be helpful to those with trouble sleeping, but I cannot comment on that specifically. Additionally, it looks great design-wise and would be a great complement to any bedroom. Beyond the looks and those primary functions, I didn’t find too much else as far as beneficial features that I was able to use. Additionally, the sleep tracking feature was a real disappointment due to the fact that it is so limited and only provides information on your time in bed.

The app is pretty straight forward and user friendly, EXCEPT when entering your birthdate. I tried tapping the year so I could change it accordingly — no luck. I tried typing in my birthdate — no luck. I ended up having to swipe backwards until I got there. I’m old. Now I need to rest… Good thing I have this light. To be able to wake from a deep sleep without a sudden blasting alarm is a blessing. There are multiple, soothing sounds that you can set for your alarm, as well as a the light being able to ever-so-slowly brighten and “prep” you for a gentle awakening. The fact that I can adjust the light at night when reading a book and not bother my wife with the light on is a plus — especially for her. There is a “Sunset” setting to help calm the nerves and get you ready for a good night’s sleep. A gentle rain with the light dimming completely over about 30 minutes. However, I have a CPAP machine that kind of drowns it out with it’s own white noise. If this weren’t the case, I can only imagine that this would be soothing, possibly while reading for awhile (which I know some would say that you shouldn’t do). Something I hadn’t thought about until I was setting things up on my nightstand, it’s a real space saver. Light, alarm clock, and USB power supply for my phone’s charging pad — all in one. I know that this isn’t necessarily one of the selling points, but I like that. There are a lot more features/settings that I haven’t mentioned because I don’t really want them for my own personal use. But you might. That’s one of the great things about this system — you can tailor it to your own needs. I would recommend this to someone else, especially if they had sleeping difficulties.

Horrible. I expected an amazing product. Full of glitches and disappointment. Not a helpful alarm at all. Brightness barely made a difference in my room. The WIFI connectivity kept glitching. The return policy sucks - 14/15 days. Now I’m stuck with this very expensive mistake.

I am shocked at how much I actually like this!

As the title says I am shocked at just how much I like this Phillips Smartsleep lamp. Read the pros and cons and why below.... For starters...when I chose to get this product I thought it was a cool idea that I didn't think I would keep or use and boy was I totally perplexed. The main goal of the item is to help provide people with better night sleeps be it via the Relax Breathe feature or the great alarm to wake you up. The Relax Breathe to me is kind of gimmicky and didn't really help me. Basically the device lights up when to breathe in and dims when you are to breathe out. Phillips claims 77% of users who own the item and do relax breathe claim this has helped them fall asleep faster....I am sure that's accurate but not how I intend to continue using the device. The set up of the device is very simple...you download the accompanying app and use it to set up the device (be for warned you have to give Phillips certain data permissions to use every feature of the device...so if that's not something you're OK with then think twice). The app is very fluid and I haven't noticed any bugs. The device makes a great lamp so if you want to read in bed with it you can adjust the brightness or color of the yellow to your liking (which is super). When you're done you just turn the lamp portion off...It also makes it a night light if you choose to keep it a really low dim brightness (which is a great feature). My favorite part is the alarm clock. I set my alarm for early morning and it woke me up to "Forest Birds" which is a light chirp that gets gradually louder (but not obnoxiously loud at all)...the light also gets gradually brighter...which is pretty intelligent because its not too bright and hurting your eyes it helps adjust them and wake you. Now I am simply comparing waking up this way compared to how I used to from my Iphone alarm clock. My iphone alarm clock is loud and annoying...it does its job but it makes me feel groggy most days. The Philips product woke me up and I felt refreshed....it was as if it woke me up really easily and peacefully and boy do I feel a little better. This product does a lot of interesting things including sleep tracker but I am solely using as an alarm clock, lamp, and way to wake me up feeling more and more refreshed...It also has FM radio which is really neat! Overall this is a product that I never would of know that I needed or wanted. I highly recommend it and think it will help you in someway get better sleep. Being the tracking that helps or like me where a nice alarm and light wake you up peacefully.
