Big improvements over two years, worth the upgrade

I planned to use this toothbrush for traveling. I sometimes forgot to pack my current Sonicare toothbrush which is about two years old and still working like new. My older Sonicare has a large plugin charger and base. This new brush has a very small and light USB induction charger. But a charge will not likely be needed except on the longest of trips as this only needs a charge every two weeks. Enough for 28 two minute brushings.
No AC power adapter is included in the package. I appreciate the cost savings and waste reduction by not getting another charger to toss in the drawer. If you do not have a USB charger, you’ll need to pick one up.
If this is your first Sonicare, read the well written manual to take full advantage of it.
• For new Sonicare users there is an “EasyStart” setting which will start with a low power and gradually increase the power during the first 14 brushings to help you adjust.
• You can also manually choose between low and high intensity settings if full speed is still just too much.
• While brushing, the moor will momentarily pause the brushing every 30 seconds as a signal to move on to the next area to clean. After two minutes the brush powers off. But you can easily hit the button for another two minute cycle if you lagged behind a bit, and press the button to stop the brush.
This new Sonicare is much lighter and thinner than my older one. This new brush is much closer to a standard toothbrush, maybe twice the diameter, far less like a tool or appliance. It has a non-slip matte finish on it that works well. The look and feel are top quality.
I’ve yet to put this one in my travel bag and I doubt I will at this point. It’s much easier to hold to maneuver than my old one which is much heavier and thicker than this new model. I would occasionally drop the old one during use as a result, but so far not this one. It’s so much easier to hold and maneuver. The change is worth it just for the ergonomics.
I grew up with manual brushes and always had terrible cleanings. I tried the round head electric brush for a few years and my cleanings were only a bit better. I don’t think the round brush was a good fit for my teeth. The Sonicare brush gives me better results and has made a difference in my cleanings, which go faster now with far less scrapping. I’m not sure if it’s the brush shape, the speed of the brush, or a bit of both, but this type of brush really works for me. If you feel that your cleanings could be better, this is surely worth a try. I’m a big fan of this type of brush.

The Philips sonicare toothbrush is a truly remarkable toothbrush. The vibrating bristles seem to massage your gums at the same time that they are working the gum area to remove plaque. Philips claims a 14 day battery life, and although I haven't had this toothbrush 14 days, it is obvious that it will have a very long battery life. As a note, it comes with a USB charging cable, but does not include a charging block.
For people who do a lot of traveling, the long battery life can be a major asset. The charging stand is also very small, allowing is to be easy to place and easy to pack. The unit I have came with one brush. This is one toothbrush that kind of makes you want to brush. I guess this could be a great way to convince those pesky pre-teens to brush regularly. Overall, this is a really nice toothbrush and does a good job cleaning near the gum line.

This is my 3rd electric toothbrush, my first Philips Sonicare to own though. I’m pretty much on the electric toothbrush wagon now as I can’t imagine ever going back to a standard toothbrush for my daily brushing.
The toothbrush came as a clean minimal look and setup. A simple easy base, toothbrush, and head. You don’t even need instructions on how to use it, and I always appreciate a simpler device…don’t give me 15 different types of settings to brush my teeth (sarcastically speaking), I just want something that works. One downside was that the device does not include a charging block, but does include the usb charging cable. You can use any spare charging block you may have (they recommend only to use 5v IPX4), but they state their packaging is designed around sustainability which I do like and they also offer you the option to receive an adapter by contacting their support. I assume they will send it to you free of charge, but did not attempt to reach out as I already had a spare from my old electric toothbrush.
The toothbrush has an automatic shutoff after 2 minutes of brushing which I think is pretty standard for electric toothbrushes, and it also includes 30 second notifications with a quick change of vibration if you are one who brushes by sections in 30 second intervals. One unique thing this TB has is audible beeps. It beeps when you put it on the charge to confirm it is charging.
Speaking of battery, it claims to be able to provide 28 brushing sessions at 2min/session. It has a battery status indicator that uses light colors to let you know how much juice it still has. There are 2 settings you can select when brushing, a slightly powerful vibration or a lighter vibration.
So far its been a good and simple to use brush with no issues. I haven’t tested the battery life on it yet, but typically always keep it on the charger and have a separate standard brush for trips and travel. I was disappointed to see a bristle already sideways after my first use, so I’m questionable on how long they will last. Overall I’m happy with it and it’s smaller size compared to my other brushes is a bonus.

Good but prefer a rotating brush head

I have had several electric toothbrushes over the years and always have had mixed results. The Philips Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush is no different – mixed results. The first thing you will notice (as with all the Phillips Sonicare toothbrushes) is that it built very well. Fit and finish are top notch and the toothbrush is well balanced. For such relatively low initial cost, Phillips so confident in the quality that they give you a 2-year warranty. Battery life is most probably unbelievable. I’ve only had the toothbrush for 3 days, but I own its predecessor and it was last weeks on end. Oddly enough, I had not used the older version in over 2 years, and it still held a charge when I used to compare it to the 2100. Everything sounds good so far but let’s look at the mixed results part. There is nothing inherently wrong with design, but I find the vibrating only head a bit to much to bear. I also find that if I compared the vibrating head to a competitor’s rotating head (which I currently use,) I find the rotating head does a more thorough job at cleaning. It’s not that the Philips Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush does not do a good job, I just find the competitor does a better job. Keep in mind that I do not have anything empirical to back that up, just a feeling that the rotating head design on the competition does a better job in the same time.
With that in mind, I am in a tough position for a review. The product is built well and some people may prefer the vibrating head design of Philips Sonicare 2100. However, if I had to recommend an electric toothbrush; I’d pick the competitions rotating head.

A sleek upgrade from older models

I recently replaced my several-years-old Sonicare toothbrush with this new version and have definitely seen an improvement. The design is much more sleek and the brush itself (while slightly louder) is more powerful. I love that it uses the same kinds of heads as my old model so that the stockpile I have doesn’t go to waste. I wish they had a more neutral option for the head replacement instead of the branded blue and green but that’s a minor aesthetic concern.

Sound waves do the cleaning, not scrubbing

The Philips Sonicare - Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush, Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush, White Mint - White Mint is a different experience for me, because my former electric toothbrush spun around in a circular fashion to clean my teeth. The Philips Sonicare - Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush does not move in any direction at all. It uses sound waves to clean my teeth. It has two intensities for me to choose from to clean my teeth. Brushing is different with the Philips Sonicare - Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush. There is no pressing hard on the teeth at a 90 degree angle, instead I lightly touch my teeth at a 45 degree angle. Instructions state to clean my mouth by four quadrants. It is programmed to operate for two minutes with four thirty second intervals which signal the time to change position in my mouth. My teeth feel clean from using the Philips Sonicare - Sonicare 2100 Power Toothbrush and I can brush my tongue for a complete clean mouth feeling also.

Simplistic and efficient. It has a timer, two intensities and fantastic battery life. Not many bells and whistles but all the tools necessary to take better care of my teeth and gums. Happy brushing.

The toothbrush works great and is quiet. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because an adapter wasn’t provided for the USB charging cable. I don’t understand why Philips switched from a regular pronged plug. You can request an adapter at no cost, however, but it’s a bit of a hassle.

Seems Phillips is going the Apple way, This toothbrush is rechargeable however they do not send a power block for recharging, rather they include a stand with a USB connector to charge it. For this reason alone I do not recommend this product.
If you elect to get this unit, it is a good toothbrush. 2 minute cycle with a tone every 30 seconds. 2 intensity levels for brushing action and appears easy to keep clean. Does a good job when brushing your teeth.

I had high hopes for this toothbrush because of other reviews I read, but I did not have the same experience. It has two speeds, and even on the lowest one, my teeth feel like they vibrate. Not only that, but it is very loud. It definitely cleans my teeth better than my manual toothbrush, but the excessive vibration and noise has me going back to my original toothbrush.

Hi,
Thanks for your review regarding your Sonicare toothbrush, we are sorry to hear that it has not provided you with the anticipated experience yet. Let's hope we can improve that for you!
If you find that your Philips Sonicare Toothbrush vibration is too powerful, you can adjust the intensity settings. Have you already selected the low intensity mode (1)? We also advise to activate the EasyStart setting, as this feature gently increases the power over the first 14 brushing sessions to help you get used to electric brushing. Regarding the noise, could you reattach the brush head and make sure that the brush head is well placed and not loose or wobbly. A small gap between the handle and the brush head is normal, as this is needed for vibration.
