An excellent toothbrush, especially for travelers

With a battery life of over 2 weeks the Sonicare DiamondClean is an excellent electric toothbrush for those that travel a lot. For even more peace of mind's sake, you can charge the toothbrush in the travel case using USB. This is very convenient for international traveling if you travel with a laptop because you can charge your brush with one of its USB ports overnight. That's one less adapter to worry about.
Although it may look slick, the brush's handle is surprisingly grippy, and even more so when wet.
The brush has 5 different brushing modes. It also breaks up your mouth into sections and has a vibration alert which signals you when to stop brushing the part of the mouth you're brushing and move on to the next section.
The vibrating head is incredibly fast that it takes all of the effort out of brushing your teeth. In fact, you're actually not supposed to apply a lot of pressure to it since the vibrations are doing all of the work.
The charging dock has a very small footprint and fits in virtually any sink as long as there is a power outlet about 3 feet away from it. It will even charge through the rinsing glass if you want to charge it that way but that's optional. I don't like the idea of rinsing with a glass that I put my brush handle in so I keep them separate and just charge the brush on top of the dock itself.
Highly recommended for travelers. If you don't travel often, I would recommend the Sonicare 3 series instead as the DiamondClean is significantly more expensive. It won't feel or look as premium as the DiamondClean but it gets the job done.

I've previously used an Oral-B as my toothbrush however mine recently died after a good 7 year run. Having used the Sonicare, I can say that it does clean much better than my Oral-B did. It just feels like your teeth are so clean and fresh which is always nice. Charging dock is a tad weird but works well. My Oral-B had a dock with a little post where you would place the handle back onto whenever you were done. The cup thing just seems weird plus it'll get filled with gunk in no time. My only cause for concern is this things longevity. My Oral-B lasted a long time (by toothbrush standard) and I was bit bummed when it did. I'm hoping this toothbrush will last just as long, if not longer, than my previous one did.

-- The Good --
* Great battery life
* Multiple settings
* Long, slim toothbrush neck makes cleaning back teeth easy, even with a bad gag reflex.
* Travel case included
-- The Bad --
* The replacement brush heads aren't cheap, but you only have to change them out every three months.
I've been using electric toothbrushes for around ten years now, and my dental checkups have made it quite clear it's the way to go. I've used a few different models from various manufacturers, but the DiamondClean is by far my most favorite toothbrush yet.
The toothbrush heads on the DiamondClean are quite long and thin, which makes cleaning my back teeth MUCH easier (even with a bad gag reflex). Philips also includes a nice, clear brush head cap to help keep your brush head clean from any dust while it sits on your bathroom counter.
The DiamondClean has several different settings based on how you want to clean/whiten your teeth and clean your gums:
- Clean
- Gum Care
- Polish
- Sensitive
- White
Despite having several cleaning options, I really only use the default "clean" setting. Philips claims that you can start to see a noticeable difference in the color of your teeth if you use the "White" setting for a week.
Included in the box is the standard charging base for the DiamondClean, but there is also a glass toothbrush cup that you can use over the charging base to charge your toothbrush. There is also a nice travel charger for your toothbrush and two brush heads.
-- Bottom Line --
I doubt you'll find a better electric toothbrush anywhere else.

What a great way to get a DiamondClean smile with this convenient and very stylish rechargeable toothbrush. One click and you can get the best cleaning mode and intensity for your daily needs. It also comes with a handy bonus two way glass charger and mouth rinse all in one. The Sonicare DiamondClean rechargeable Toothbrush goes up to 2 weeks before a charge and best feature I like is that it helps improve your brushing technique in learning healthy habits. Philips definitely have the makings of a complete oral care.

The toothbrush will beep twice to confirm that it is enabled. 4. Disable Easy-start by holding the mode/intensity button and pressing the power button once while the toothbrush is on the charger. 5. The toothbrush will beep once to confirm that it is disabled.
NOTE: Your Sonicare toothbrush must be switched on for at least 1 minute during each session to properly move through the Easy-start feature.

It's been a joy using the Phillips Sonicare Diamond clean. I actually used to have the 2015-2016 model which looked identical to this model. I absolutely loved that model but unfortunately for me, it only lasted me about 2 years before it failed. I've had Sonicare products in the past that have lasted me several years so maybe that was a one off. I'm hoping that this diamondclean model will last much longer than my previous one.
After using a Sonicare toothbrush, I won't ever go back to a manual. After every brush, I feel like I just came back from the dentist. The standard "Clean" mode (which is the mode that most will be using) has a 2 minute timer to ensure you get a full brush. It also breaks up brushing into 4 zones. The timer allocates 30 seconds to your front upper teeth, 30 seconds to your rear upper teeth, 30 seconds to your front lower teeth, and finally 30 seconds to your rear lower teeth. The other modes are "white", "sensitive", "gum care", and "deep clean". I like that this brush provides the flexibility of tailoring the mode depending on what your dental hygiene requirements call for.
In terms of build quality and accessories, this is as good as it gets. The toothbrush is sleek, utterly modern, and the matte finish makes it a pleasure to grip. I find the glass charging base to be incredibly convenient. As soon as you're done brushing, you just rest the base of the toothbrush inside the glass and it immediately begins to charge. This sounds like a small thing but I couldn't tell you how many times, on prior Sonicare models, I've had to fiddle with finding the part of the base that sticks out in order to fit it into the hole on the base of the toothbrush. Not with this model! I also love that I can use the glass for all my mouth wash needs. The brush comes with a very luxurious travel case. However, the last diamond clean I owned (the 2015-2016 model) came with a travel case that you could connect a USB charger to it so that the brush would charge while it was in the case! This was ingenious while traveling because it meant you never had to take your charging base with you. This is no longer supported on the current case. However, it must be noted that a full charge should easily last you a week or more of brushing 3 times a day.
So why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, this is a solid offering from Phillips but lacks a lot of the advanced features found in some of their models that are in this same price range or even less. Two significant features that were missing was a pressure sensor and bluetooth. I'm actually surprised that this diamondclean model does not have a brushing pressure sensor. I'm almost certain that my 2015-2016 model diamondclean, which again was aesthetically identical to this model, had a built in pressure sensor. Why it was omitted on this later 2018 model is beyond me. I also recently used a Sonicare with bluetooth which allowed me to connect to an app on my android device and keep progress of all my brushing sessions and it would notify me if i missed any spots during each session. That feature is not critical but would have been nice to have. All in all, albeit those missing features, this brush will still give you one of the best teeth cleanings every time you use it. Out of all the other electric toothbrush vendors I've tried, Phillips always remains king in this category. It is still one of the top choices that I would recommend for anyone looking to own one of the best electric toothbrushes on the market.

I've been using sonicare products for a while now, and jumped at the chance to try out the DiamondClean.
With it's five modes of use (my favorite being the deep clean mode) it leaves my teeth feeling even cleaner than my previous model! They keep getting better!
What's more, the actual unit itself has some nice "heft" to it (which I really like) which gives it a professional "I can't break this" feel.
I really began to salivate (pun intended!) at the 2 different charging methods. Either on the base so it stands upright, or in the cup to give it a more traditional toothbrush look. I myself prefer charging it in the cup.
The only negative(s) I can point out is that the unit comes with 1 brush head. As in my opinion, this should be THE brush that every member of the household should use. To do that, additional brushes in a pack of 3-4 run upwards of 50 dollars. To me, that is an investment well worth it though to ensure you (and your family) have beautiful smiles that will make your dental hygienist think you are cheating on them with another dental office (haha!).
The cost IS worth it. You will not get this type of clean with ANY manual toothbrush, nor any "rotating" electric toothbrush.
Do your self a favor and become a part of the diamondclean family. You won't regret it!

We have owned Sonicare toothbrushes in the past and always been impressed with their cleaning capability. The new DiamondClean improves on its predecessors by providing more power and longer battery life in a slightly smaller factor.
The toothbrush comes with a wireless charger and your choice of two glass "bases" for your use. The first is a small disk that allows you to stand the brush upright for charging. The second is a rinsing glass that sits on the charger base and allows you to simply place the brush in the glass to charge it, Nice feature.
The toothbrush offers multiple speeds (modes) so that you can choose the one that is most comfortable for your teeth and gums. Another cool feature is the timer that keeps the brush going for optimal cleaning. This is especially appreciated for someone like me who is naturally impatient and tends to cut my brushing sessions short! :)
Overall - if you want a solid, easy to use, classy looking electric toothbrush then this is the product for you!

Purchased the DiamondClean expecting the quality of materials used to manufacture would be better than the much less expensive versions. Panasonic has a 2 year warranty which I’m sure like anything else, they understand the time period in which these units will malfunction not to mention, you HAVE TO KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL RECEIPT in order to obtain any support up to two years. Registration of unit does not count for proof of purchase. After a little over 2 years, my DiamondClean did not have the same vibration. I replace the brush head every 4-6 months and assumed perhaps it was time for a new head. The unit maintained the low vibration which had me curious to look online for issues regarding this brush. What I found was numerous accounts of the same issue and techies attempting to repair on their own. There happen to be a weak point in the metal that attaches the brush head shaft to the vibration mechanism which will break over time. Normally, I just throw my brush away and purchase a new Sonicare, but after paying over $200 + $30 (Brush Head ) on a toothbrush that Panasonic refuses to support, I wonder who the real sucker is here. If you choose to purchase a Sonicare, purchase the cheapest model possible, it’s all the same. Case# 60-0016240479

I previously used the base model sonicare (4100, I think.) After that toothbrush stopped working, I was planning to just replace it with the same model, but I'm so glad I got the DiamondClean. It is a remarkable and impressive upgrade - from the quality feel of the brush, to the multiple vibration features, to the clean charging base.

Love this electric toothbrush; it is my third. I keep them all over, charged and ready to travel. I was not interested in a "smart" brush as who needs a toothbrush connected to a cell phone. This one is great and I use it with the brush heads for plaque.

I've been using an old Sonicare Flexcare 9000 series for about 10 years (changing the brush head every three months, of course) and really loved it. It had a built-in sanitizer (it's no longer offered with this model), which I really liked, but since it was pretty old (although it still works fine), when an opportunity to upgrade it for free came up, I took advantage of it. After using it for a couple weeks now, here are my comments:
1) The color (mat finish black) just doesn't fit in my neutral colored bathroom. It stands out too much like an eyesore. My old unit was mostly white, which I liked better.
2) The handle is square, so it's not ergonomically correct. I have to keep re-gripping it to make sure it doesn't slip out of my hand. The handle is also a bit slippery probably because of the texture from the mat finish. My previous model had a round-shaped handle and had ribbing on the back to prevent it from slipping out of your hand. The DiamondClean model is smooth all around.
3) The glass that came with this unit has no real purpose for me. I suppose some people prefer to thrown the brush in the glass, instead of standing it upright on the plastic stand but I just think anything made of glass in the bathroom is an accident waiting to happen.
4) It also seems to have a very short battery life and I have to plug in after two uses because the battery icon starts flashing (according to the manual, that's when to plug in but it's supposed to last about 30 uses after a full charge).

You need to use it for at least two weeks, since it starts to vibrate slowly and then it picks up the speed. Recommended.

I used to have the Oral B but everyone raved about Sonicare, so I went ahead and purchased it. It worked great for a couple of months but then it stopped working. I contacted Philips directly and they were nice enough to send me a replacement toothbrush, which also stopped working after a couple of months of use. I contacted them again but this time they wanted proof-of-purchase which I don't have because it was a replacement toothbrush, and they do not do warranty on replacements. It's a really expensive toothbrush to be having these issues. I'm going back to Oral B.
