Customers find value in the DiamondClean Smart 9700 Rechargeable Toothbrush's cleaning capabilities, variety of brush heads, and user-friendly app. The long battery life, ease of use, overall performance, travel case, and design are also well-received. However, some customers find the price to be high, and a few have noted sensitivity to the vibration and occasional Bluetooth connectivity issues.

If brushing your teeth feels like a chore, the Sonicare DiamondClean 9700 will flip that script fast. This isn’t just a toothbrush… it’s the Bentley of oral care. From the first use, you can feel the difference: sleek, powerful, and engineered like something you’d expect from NASA, not your bathroom counter.
Honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever be excited about a toothbrush, but here we are. The 9700 is hands-down the best electric toothbrush I’ve used. It somehow makes brushing feel…kind of luxurious? Didn’t know that was even possible.
You’ve got multiple cleaning modes (I bounce between “Clean” and “White+”), and the smart brush heads actually adjust to what you’re doing. It even lets you know when you’re pressing too hard which, let’s be real, we all do sometimes. The app is surprisingly helpful. It gives you real-time feedback, mouth-mapping, tracking the areas you miss. It’s almost like having a personal dental assistant.
The charging glass is a nice touch, and the travel case also charges the brush, which is genius if you’re constantly on the move. It’s little things like that that make it feel high-end.
Is it pricey? Yeah. But considering how often you use it and how good it is, it’s 100% worth it. My teeth feel cleaner, my gums are healthier, and I actually look forward to brushing.
If you’re on the fence, take the leap. This is a serious upgrade that delivers.

I’ve never written a Product review but for this I had to. This product is amazing in every single way and I can’t believe I didn’t have it my whole life.
I will never again use a regular toothbrush as this product has my mouth feeling as fresh as it ever has before and actually clean. I mean actually really clean. This product consistently makes sure you brush your teeth exactly as a dentist would instruct and makes you aware of everything you’re doing wrong. There’s absolutely no better toothbrush on the market this is the best possible way to brush your teeth. There’s absolutely no better to push on the market this is the best possible way to brush you teeth.
Let Sonicare do all the work for you.

It’s a great toothbrush just with using it once you feel the clean. I would highly recommend this toothbrush to anybody in the market for a better smile. The price tag might be a little offputting but you definitely get what you pay for and I’ve had it for less than a month and I can already see my teeth improving in whiteness.
The charging case alone it’s very pristine I am premium feeling and when you connect to the app it just feels very fluid and makes brushing that much more fun.
The whole package comes with seven smart brush heads and one tongue head and the fact that they’re smart they countdown to how much more sessions you have with the toothbrush before you have to replace it so already in the box you get nearly half a year almost a year worth of brushes so that’s a big plus.

I’ve used most electric toothbrushes on the market. But, I’ve been a consistent Philips sonicare customer for 15 years. Durable, constant upgrades, great customer service. I own two of this model; one for home, and one for the road what I traveled-I never go without! I recommend them to all my coworker, gym/workout partners…So much so that I gift them for the holidays to my family and friends! Give them a try, you won’t regret it.

The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9700 electric is the top-of-the-line in the current offerings by Philips, packed with every feature you might want, includes seven extra brush heads and has the best software support available. Its performance in the multiple roles of cleaning/whitening your teeth, maintaining gum health and cleaning your tongue is absolutely unmatched by any other toothbrush. It is a superb device and, despite its relatively high initial cost, an outstanding value!

Philips Sonicare engineering has significantly raised the level of expected excellence in this 9700 Diamond Clean Smart electronic tooth brush. Philips products have always been the gold standard, but this model is indeed even more special than expected. The price is a little high (about the cost of two professional teeth cleanings), but seven additional brushes are included and this is such an improved product I saw the extra value in its quality and performance almost immediately.
Having a long history of expensive dental work including crowns, a permanent bridge and an implant, I am extremely interested in good checkups to protect my investment in healthy teeth and gums. My dental hygiene has always depended upon an electric toothbrush for best results as recommended by my dentist and hygienist. For years I have used the “other” popular brand with rotating brush. Recently I began using a base model Philips Sonicare toothbrush and found the difference in performance so remarkable that I vowed to never go back to the “other” (round head) brand.
So how did the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9700 manage to WOW a valued repeat client like me to bring technology, health care expertise, and innovative design to serve in this most luxurious and advanced package?
Let’s start with first impression: the deep blue color is gorgeous, the finish a very rich satin and the brush rests in an elegant glass which fits over a beautiful gold-colored charging base for an even more sophisticated impression. Then there is the wealth of connected features, sensors and controls plus the dual charging capability of electric or USB charging. I guess that is why this is called an “electronic” toothbrush, not just electric.
First of all, it has a very nice, non-slip finish and it is remarkably light to hold. It has three intensity settings (from gentle to strong) – very important to keep onlays and other delicate dental work in place, its brush shape reaches hard-to-get to spaces but it still manages to eliminate those stubborn coffee stains and leave your teeth feeling like you have just had them cleaned by the hygienist. This model has multiple pressure sensors to keep you from brushing your teeth too hard which could cause damage to your enamel and very importantly does not shred your gums. It has a slender handle making it easy to hold and manipulate in tooth brushing. And it also has pre-programmed timers synchronized to the type of brush head in use to prompt adequate brushing for each quadrant of your mouth. This keeps you from brushing too much or too little. Phillips offers specialized brush heads that are click-on and interchangeable and a little light to let you know when it is time to change brushes. The brush is much quieter that the “other brand” and it is sleeker and cleaner looking on the counter.
Did you notice that this brush connects to an app to tutor you into getting the most benefit out of this brush? I was not sure this was going to appeal to me since if you are not a total geek it seems a bit odd to bring your phone into the bathroom to advise you on your oral care routine. However, the app took moments to install and the Bluetooth connectivity was automatically activated and ready for first use right out of the box. I found that the app guided me perfectly, noting when I brushed too fast, missed a section or applied too much pressure. Its count-down timer and visual tracking made me focus like never before on getting my teeth perfectly clean. Points on the board for this feature!
The next top drawer element is the variety of brushing types you can enjoy for super oral hygiene with this toothbrush. Four types of great brush heads are standard with this model for personalized oral healthcare goals that are easily programmed in your app. The app guides you to brush according to your preference to get optimal cleaning. Multiple specialized brushes in this suite include those for plaque control to give a deep clean, a gum care brush for healthy gum cleaning and stain removal brush for whiter teeth and finally a tongue care “brush” for fresh breath. The sleek design travel case has room for the power handle as well as two brushes and recharges with a built in USB power cord. It is a very complete oral health system.
So how did it all work?
In a word: Fantastic.
I have been experimenting with all brushes for only a week so far, and I can say the 9700 DiamondClean delivers the best results I could ever have expected. As I mentioned, I have another Sonicare tooth brush (the base model) which I felt was performing well, but the DiamondClean clearly is superior! The app guided me to make sure I did not overlook or underbrush areas of the mouth and my teeth appear whiter and cleaner using whitening toothpaste with the whitening brush. Brushes are constructed so that they seem to reach into every groove including in crowded teeth areas prone to plaque buildup.
Another reason for being so impressed with the Sonicare system is this…..it has less splash all over my mirror when I brush my teeth. This is a huge and unexpected benefit. With the other brand’s spinning toothbrush I had been using before using the Sonicare, the mirror had to be cleaned each time I brushed my teeth. The Phillips Sonicare produces no splash.
This is the most beautiful, practical, and versatile toothbrush I have ever used. I find it flawless in its intended purpose and design. Long after the price is forgotten, the quality of this toothbrush will be appreciated.
And so confident is Philips in this toothbrush, they give a free 6 month warranty extension (to a total of 2.5 years!) when you register it in the app.
I strongly recommend this complete toothbrush system to the individual interested in keeping their teeth and gums healthy as a life time goal.

Does a good job cleaning but my brush seems to have a major flaw. No matter how hard you push the brush down, it goes back up slightly and leaves a gap between the brush head and base. This allows toothpaste to get in that gap where the motor is. I am not sure if my brush is defective or if this is a manufacturer error but my return period ended before 30 days.

Brand response from Philips

Hi Franky,
thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We completely understand your concern, however we would like to assure you that a small gap between the handle and the brush head is perfectly normal. The Philips Sonicare Brush head must be free to move in order to deliver the vibrations needed to clean your teeth, so this gap is actually necessary. We suggest refraining from trying to push down the brush head to close this gap from now on, as this could potentially damage the handle. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (https://bit.ly/3yBQ1qb) and Twitter (https://bit.ly/3g2fXmw). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.
Hope to speak to you soon!
Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care

A just about perfect dental solution!!

I have had dental issues for most of my adult life and spent more in dental bills in the past 20 years than I have in medical bills and that includes beating cancer. So if that doesn't tell you that I'm someone who needs the very best toothbrush that money can buy then I don't know what will. My Phillips Sonicare 9700 is an upgrade from a duo pack that my wife and I purchased 2 years ago for about $150. So after this there is nowhere to go as this is the flagship toothbrush that Phillips offers.
My particular issue is a gum issue in which, if any bacteria are on my teeth at all, will cause my gums to attack the teeth and create holes in them. Which means that tooth has to be removed. I tell you this because this is the most important reason for needing clean teeth. Sure I get my teeth professionally cleaned by a dental hygeniest at a periodontist (deeper cleaning than a regular dentist) every three months but I also need the very best home solution. Enter the 9700 Smart Toothbrush.
When I received the 9700 I was immediately deeply impressed by the packaging. This looks less like a toothbrush and more like a high end video card. It came packaged with multiple brush heads, a jar and a recharging station. To be honest it was a bit overwhelming. However after reading the instructions and unpacking everything it all was very simple. You must download an app and be registered on the Phillips side, which I had done beforehand.
For my first brushing (the toothbrush comes charged, but you are supposed to charge it for 24 hours after your first use) I chose the gum care, because that is what I need. The app synced up quite easily and surprisingly enough the brushing showed me what was happening in real time on the app, showing areas of my gums I needed to hit as I brushed. There are several programs to use and each program has a different brushhead which is why there are many brush heads that come with the unit. After having used the toothbrush for over a week now I can safely say that, according to the app, I was brushing with way too much motion and, again, because of the app, I have corrected my brushing technique. The app does track your history and shows how many more brushings you can get out of the current brush head which is awesome.
All in all I'd highly recommend the Phillips Sonicare 9700 Smart Brush. Sure it's expensive but its value is immeasureable in the money that it will save you in dental bills. The only reason I do not give it a perfect, five star rating is that I believe for the price they could have included a antibacterial chamber to clean the brush heads like the previous duo that my wife and I got two years ago. For me, however, I can go ahead and use that brush chamber with this toothbrush so it is not a big deal.
Two thumbs up, if this doesn't help make your dentist happy then I can't imagine what will!!

I've oscillated (no pun intended) between the Braun Oral-B brushes and the Philips Sonicare line for decades. Something about the sonic vibrations has always felt a little weird eg) tickling sensation on the gums etc. But every time I switch back to the sonicare from the Braun, I am reminded of how smooth and clean and slippery my teeth feel afterwards. They both work great, but the sonicare seems to do a bit better job when it comes to gums and polish. But after the last 3 years with a top of the line Braun, I just couldn't handle that gunk that forms at the bottom of the braun toothbrush and on top of the charging dock. No matter what I did, even if I fully hand washed the brush after each brushing, water would seemingly drip down, pool up on the charger, and then form a gross gunk, and after I switched to a charcoal toothpaste it got progressively more disgusting. I was washing my charger at least every 3 days and it was gross! I went on a quest to find a power toothbrush that had a better design. Last time I used a sonicare it had the same style charger as the braun and the same gunk problem. I found a japanese import model, the panasonic DOLTZ that had a clever ring hanger for the brush, but it was over 300 bucks with shipping and import tax so i kept looking. When I saw that philips introduced the glass cup charger I was like omg this is it! if it does end up getting gunky i can throw the glass in the dishwasher once in a while, so I took the plunge on this model. I'm not quite sure what the differences are between the models other than the accessories. I don't travel often so I probably didn't need to get the travel case, although it is very nice and sleek. This model came with a ton of brushes which i believe is why it's more expensive than the similar models. But once you take into account the travel case and the tons of spare brush heads, this model ends up being a good deal! Especially when you can find it on sale, like I did before christmas 2021. It's also very slender and sleek and made of a soft touch luxury plastic material. this new model doesn't drip liquid all the way down to the bottom like the old ones either. I believe the small gap between the brush head and the main unit does a good job in stopping the dripping, although this gap will have to be cleaned once in a while, so far I haven't noticed any gunk build up and it's been almost 3 weeks! I really love the thoughtful design of the charger and brush, it feels luxurious and I get that classic smooth clean tooth feeling after using it that you're used to. I highly recommend it!

Look I know $300 is a lot for a electric toothbrush but I have to say it’s well worth it. Think of it as an investment every morning and night feeling like you just had a dentist clean feeling. It comes with everything you need, multiple brush heads that has a little chip so it automatically switches to the type of clean your looking for and intensity. So far I’ve used the deep clean setting on high intensity and everyday my mouth feels amazing. I’ll be honest with you I’ve seen my teeth get even brighter with brushing 2 times a day or more. Love the glass charger as you just sit it in the cup and it chargers overnight. For the travelers the case is incredible. Pack a few brush heads and the case has its own usb charging cord. The app is pretty cool as well as it does have its bugs which is fine but I prefer to use it sometimes when I really want to know how well I’m doing. The toothbrush itself will notify you to toss the brush head away as it will notice when it’s that time. Since it comes with so many of them that should last you a year you can have it automatically send your more or buy them yourself. Just know it’s not cheap but if you made it this far and purchased it 24 dollars here and there for a pack isn’t as bad as forking out another $300.

My teeth never feel as good if I brush with a regular brush. Easy to use. Settings limited to those you would actually want. Number of brushes included makes it the best value. Also the carrying case includes an additional charger which is ideal. The only reason I’m ever without it is my husband loves it just as much (ie no solo travel)

I bought this unit to replace my old black DiamondClean 9500, which finally gave out after many years. I like the new Smart 9700 Lunar Blue version better. It is solid and powerful, and it does a great job cleaning my teeth. Plus, the dark blue color scheme adds a certain "cool" factor. I have not tried out all the different settings or brush heads yet, but I will at some point. For now, I'm happy with the "Clean" setting and the regular cleaner head.
Best Buy had the 9700 on sale, which was an added bonus, although it took two weeks for the new one to arrive. It was worth the wait.

I purchased this toothbrush because my oral b pro finally gave out after about 6 years so it was time for an upgrade. The sonic care takes some getting used to but after a few uses have noticed cleaner teeth. The pressure sensor is sensitive but again I am used to brushing harder with the oral b. The charging cup is convenient and sleek. The travel case with charger is another convenience as I do travel a lot. So far I am very satisfied with this toothbrush. I cannot comment on the multiple attachments since I have only used 1, but I would definitely recommend this toothbrush. A bit pricey but with 7 brushheads and a tongue scraper I won't have to purchase anymore anytime soon so I felt it justified the price as I am the only person using the toothbrush.

At first I did not understand the hype and desire for an electric toothbrush, but as soon as I first used it it all started to make sense. The different modes on the brush allow you to cater to your oral hygiene needs and really get a deep clean or even to tongue clean. The optional app you can install works seamlessly with the brush and it really gives you a lot of information when and after using it. It also comes with a solid amount of brush heads for the different modes. Never will I go back to a manual non electric brush.
