Poor Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially I thought that the toothbrush was great and then all of the toothbrush heads disintegrated, and Philips would NOT do anything to replace the toothbrushes even after I sent them photos and offered to mail the toothbrushes back.

An excellent toothbrush but with a flaw
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am longtime user of the DiamondClean toothbrush, but the DiamondClean Smart 9700 was a worthy upgrade. One of the major annoyances for me with the original DiamondClean toothbrush was that the power button and mode button were assigned to the same one button. This made it a hassle to switch modes because the brush would need to be powered on and vibrating before you can switch modes. On the 9700, the power button and mode buttons are two separate buttons. Another thing that eventually came to be an annoyance was the USB port of the travel charging case of the original DiamondClean. It uses a mini-USB cable to charge. When it came out this was fine, but in this day and age, the mini-USB cable is obsolete. The travel charging case that comes with the 9700 comes with the cable connected to the case and hidden in a bottom compartment of the case. This way you don't have to worry about forgetting to bring a USB cable you'll never use unless you're bringing along a very old digital camera. You can still charge the 9700 from a computer's USB through the travel case. The only issue I have with the 9700's case is that it uses a leathery material which feels prone to scratching unlike the original's travel case which felt more rugged and durable. The battery lasts for well over a week in my tests, and I used the White+ mode, which runs for 2 minutes and 40 seconds each brushing session. You can *confidently* go without the hassle of charging if you're leaving somewhere for a weekend. I would even go as far as saying that it will go for a week uncharged just as easy as long as it's only for one user. The main selling point of this toothbrush though is that it's a "smart" toothbrush. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and in conjunction with its own Sonicare app tracks the movement of brushhead to help log a diary of your brushing. It also shows you the battery life of the brush handle on the app and allows you to update the handle's firmware. The brush logging on the app can be used as a great motivational tool to promote good brushing habits. If only the brush head tracking worked well. For some reason the bluetooth connection with the handle is very finicky and often won't recognize your handle making the use of the app and logging a very frustrating experience. I've found that, the app won't recognize the brush well unless you hold your phone up with your other hand. If I set it down on my sink or prop it up on my bathroom mirror my phone can't recognize the handle. I've installed a handle firmware update since I got the brush and it still hasn't helped any bit with the connection issues. When it does work, it does a good job it getting you into the habit of good brushing. After the brush session ends it will give you reminders about using mouthwash, floss, and tongue scraper. The bottom of the brush handle lights up if and when you apply too much pressure with the brush head to your teeth. Another con about this brush is obviously its high price. However, given the number of brush heads included with it, I feel the price feels justified. The brush looks great, and though it looks slippery it actually feels grippy on hand. If you're willing to look past its crappy connection issues, this is a superb electric toothbrush, better than the original DiamondClean. If you're buying this to rely on the smart features and help motivate you to brush properly and consistently more than anything else I would probably wait on this either until they come up with a fix to make it more reliable or wait until it goes on sale because it really is a great toothbrush that's worth the investment. If you're coming from a manual toothbrush, you will never want to go back to a manual toothbrush ever again.

Expensive but Good Family Brush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro -Comes with 7 brush heads -Includes travel case with built-in charger -Five cleaning modes -Long battery life -Charging cup can hold extra brush heads Con -Expensive Overall While an expensive electric toothbrush, the Sonicare 9700 packs in a few things that make it a better value ( in some respects ) than the less-expensive models in the Sonicare line. Specifically, it includes seven brush heads and one tongue paddle while many of the sub $150 options include only a single head. If you figure $15 per head, that's roughly $100 worth of extra hardware. The 9700 also comes with a nice travel case ( with slots for two brush heads ). The case acts as a charger as well, which is a nice touch. If you want to get one toothbrush base for the whole family to share, the 9700 at least has the hardware to do so. In terms of extra features, the 9700 adds two additional cleaning modes ( Clean+ and Whitening+ ) over the 6100. The charging station is also much improved. The inductive plate sits beneath a small cup that can also be used to hold the additional brush heads. You can also Philips' tooth brushing app on your phone if you want. Personally, I didn't find it terribly useful. In all, yes, spending $250 - $300 on a toothbrush is a lot of money. However, the cleaning performance is still excellent and getting the extra brush heads, charging travel case, and more useful countertop charge station means it's not all fluff for the money.

Broke after a year use
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had it for a little over a year and it broke. The connecting piece where you attach the toothbrush came off with the toothbrush. Spent nearly $300 for it to break on me like nothing. Still looks brand new though but what’s the point of having something that looks good but does not work?

Show 'em your pearly whites
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never knew I needed a toothbrush with an app, but this one has it. The app guides you how fast to move the brush, shows which part of your mouth to use it on, and monitors how much pressure to place. All very useful as I discovered I was originally moving the brush head around too quickly. The app also lets you set brushing goals, and gives you brushing factoids. I didn't find the goals or factoids useful. I've been using various Philips Sonicare brushes for a few years. To be honest, they all do a great job and I can't definitively say this one is the cleanest or not. This package does, however, give you a lot for your money with plenty of extra brush heads and a few storage options for the handle, including one for travel. It is the fanciest looking one, however.

Most technologically advanced toothbrush ever!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This toothbrush has given me quite the experience and exceeded all my expectations. It's like having a dentist right in your home helping you understand how to get the best brushing experience ever. The toothbrush comes with a ton of extra brush-heads and accessories making it really easy to start off in the right direction. The mobile charging case is a great feature for travelling, I always found myself feeling like I needed to reserve battery capacity when I brushed since I didn't pack my home charger on the go. The mobile application asks you a few questions and then recommends an action plan and guides you all the way through brushing. The sensors in the toothbrush are very advanced and know how hard you're brushing, how fast you're brushing, and where you're brushing. I was extremely surprised to see how fast the mobile app tracks the movements of the toothbrush, it will let you know exactly where you need to focus your brushing efforts next. There couldn't be an easier, more interactive, satisfying way to brush your teeth. The toothbrush finish is luxury, I've never seen a toothbrush that looks this sleek, and the charging glass you just set the brush down in when you're down really adds a nice finishing touch. If you're trying to get the best clean with the best toothbrush out there, you don't have to keep looking, this brush has everything! After a few weeks using this toothbrush, I can honestly say my routine has greatly improved, and I feel like my teeth are cleaner than ever. The app could use some minor improvements, but I didn't experience any big issues with it, just noticed some UI improvements that could be made. It makes the app annoying to use so I find myself only using the app occasionally. The toothbrush still functions as normal, but you don't get the immediate feedback reports without using the app. This brush also vibrates at an extremely high frequency. While that vibration is amazing for brushing your teeth, I did find myself having to adjust overtime to the vibration as my teeth are slightly more sensitive to vibration.

an upgrade to the original sonicare
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The overall aesthetic is greatly improved, with a matte coloring that feels smoother in the hand while not being slick, if that makes sense. Improvements over previous Sonicare models may not be immediately noticeable, but they become more obvious as you use the toothbrush. One of the touted features is an accompanying app that uses sensors in the toothbrush to let you know when you're correctly brushing. Honestly, I don't find the app much of a perk because I don't typically carry my phone into the bathroom. However, there are a lot of nice touches in the accessories. The included clear charging base looks really nice, while keeping a reasonably small footprint. The travel case also looks nice, and comes with a usb connector that let's you charge your toothbrush base while in the case. The different cleaning modes I can't tell if they feel different from previous models, or if it's more of the updated toothbrush heads. Subjectively, I feel like my teeth are "squeakier" clean after using this new model. Then, the smart sensor which automatically flashes a light at the base of the toothbrush while simultaneously decreasing the strength of the motor teaches you to not use more force than necessary brushing. Overall, a very good looking toothbrush, especially with the gold accents, with nice accessories making this more travel-friendly.

It's a dental health trainer.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before this toothbrush, I had a no-frills electronic toothbrush. Same basic functionality as this Sonicare toothbrush and it works on my teeth as I wanted it to, making toothbrushing faster. This Sonicare toothbrush, will not make your toothbrushing faster, if that's why you purchase electronic toothbrushes-- in fact it may even make it longer. It could be a little tedious at first: it has an app that compliments the toothbrush. It tailor-fits to your brushing needs and it helps you make sure you follow them-- just like a personal trainer. So don't expect to brush your teeth fast. I like the sensor that tells me if I am pushing too much on my teeth-- it helps take care of the part where your gums and teeth meet. It is a beautiful toothbrush, the design, and the ease of mode selection incorporated in the toothbrush. The glass accessory and the system to charge it makes it easy to keep the device charged without knowingly plugging things in. After getting used to using it with the app, brushing with the app is not as tedious. I sometimes skip the app because I already know what it will tell me, or how to brush my teeth better for my needs. Overall, it helped me improve my brushing habits.

Sonicare DiamondClean Smart 9700
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace my old Sonicare electric toothbrush. This thing is really well built with a sleek design. Every brushing feels like it has the same power every time (tried it 9 times already all in different modes). It comes with a years worth of replacement brush heads, a travel case that charges it, and get this... a glass holder that charges the brush by simply placing the handle in it or you can use the plastic stand instead. (of course you have to hook that up to an outlet) It has 5 different cleaning modes and you can change the intensity in each of those modes. This brush comes with bluetooth connectivity which allows you to connect it to your phone or tablet. The app tells you about your brushing history, and pressure, patterns, and brush head age. It can also tell you what area that may need more brushing...etc. Connecting the brush to your phone is easy. Your phone finds it automatically. Its pricey but it includes a year's worth of brush heads. Like I said, this toothbrush is pretty awesome. With the app feature, it takes brushing your teeth to a whole new level.
