I never thought I'd be writing a review on a toothbrush, but here I am. I've used standard, non-electric toothbrushes for my entire life and have never had a cavity or any other dental problems. So I was naturally skeptical of this premium-priced electric toothbrush. It's been a great experience so far. Here my take: PROS: - Lightweight, ergonomic design makes it easy to grip and hold. - Multiple brushing intensity settings (I found the middle setting to work best for me). - Excellent brushing results -- My mouth and teeth truly feel cleaner compared to my standard toothbrush. The brush guides you through a brushing session with pauses and vibrations to indicate when it's time to change zones. - Built-in timer ensures that you are brushing for a sufficient amount of time. - Nice sturdy charging station that fits nicely into any bathroom. - The included travel case is very solid and will easily protect the toothbrush during trips (However, be sure to leave plenty of space for it in your luggage.) CONS / GIMMICKRY: - One of the main draws of this toothbrush is its Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone app. The app, while mostly useful, is often gimmicky and overly invasive. It will show you any spots of your mouth that need more attention while brushing or whether you're brushing too quickly. It will tell you when the brush head needs to be replaced. That's all fine and well, but here's where it crosses the line: Philips now emails me almost daily with "brushing tips" and reminders to sign up for a subscription-based brush head replacement program. - If I want to use the app while I brush, I need to have my phone in the bathroom with me and make sure the toothbrush is properly paired. For me, it's just too much work and not worth it. OVERALL: I love the "toothbrush" part of this product, but not necessarily the "connected" part. For those who obsess over dental hygiene, you might find the app very neat and useful. But for me, I'm going to enjoy the excellent cleaning that the toothbrush provides, and maybe I'll open the app once in a while. Despite the gimmicky app, highly recommended!

Works well. The connected app is nifty, although i find myself not bothering to use the app anymore. My teeth feel fresher than ever.

This is my 3rd electric toothbrush but my first Sonicare. The other two were a competitor that featured a round, spinning head. The first two each lasted about 6 years each so I've been using a power brush for a little over 12 years now. This is the best one I've used. It is significantly quieter than my last brush and does a better job at getting my teeth clean. It is lighter and easier to maneuver than the competitor and looks better too. One of the features I really like is the ability to choose the intensity level and also choose from Clean, White or Deep Clean, depending on what your goal is and which brush head you're using. This model comes with a regular Cleaning brush head and a Deep Clean head included in the package. It also includes a travel case which is important because my last two didn't have this and when traveling I had to find a way to block the button from getting pushed while in a suitcase. Problem solved. It has bluetooth and there is a companion app for coaching. It tells you which areas you didn't spend enough time on, if you're pressing too hard, etc. The app is neat and I tested it out, but half the time the app would crash so I didn't get much benefit from it. The toothbrush itself will tell you if you're putting too much pressure. It also has a pacing feature so you know when it's time to move to the next area of your mouth. After 2 minutes it automatically turns off. Overall, I have noticed an increase in the way my teeth and gums feel after about a week of use. The app is cool but glitchy right now so I marked 1 star off for that reason only. The brush itself is excellent but since this is marketed with the app as a feature, Philips must be held accountable for it as a weakness right now. Hopefully some updates will remedy the issues there. If you don't care about the app at all, this is an outstanding toothbrush and I would rate the toothbrush on it's own as a 5 star product.

My right wrist is in a brace for about six months making it inconvenient to impossible to thoroughly brush my teeth manually as I always have done. On a whim I decided to try the Philips Sonicare. I am surprisingly satisfied. It brushes the teeth, stimulates the gums and leaves one feeling as though he has just left the dentist!

This is my third SoniCare and I won’t be persuaded to Change brands. I run them into the ground and buy another. 3 of my kids have converted as well, so we buy several brush heads! Good feedback from the dentist except my lazy flossing routine.

There's a lot to like about the Sonicare Flexcare Platinum Connected toothbrush. Most importantly, it does a fantastic job of cleaning my teeth. I upgraded from a much less sophisticated electric toothbrush, and noticed the differences right away. First, the Sonicare brush moves much faster and seems to dislodge more of what needs to be removed. Second, the narrower brush head fits more easily into tighter spaces. Finally, a slight pulse every 20 seconds reminds users when to move to the next group of teeth (three zones on the top teeth, another three on the bottom). The various intensity levels were definitely helpful as I got used to the new toothbrush, but now that I've adjusted, I just keep it at the highest setting. Battery life is great, I travel regularly and just returned from a week away without having to recharge, so it looks like I can leave the charger at home. Also, the travel case is very convenient. The Bluetooth connectivity and companion app was easy enough to set up and install, but I'm not getting much value from it. The brushing guidance doesn't actually seem to know where the brush is in the mouth, it just indicates which zone to brush at any given time, and uses a motion sensor in the handle to determine out whether you are on the inside or outside surface of those teeth. Also, the handle doesn't track your activities when the app isn't running, so it's not like I can fire up the app after a while and see how I've been doing. I basically just stopped using the app and rely on the built in 20-second reminders to make sure I get my whole mouth evenly. Overall, I'm very happy with the way the Sonicare Flexcare Platinum Connected cleans my teeth and holds a charge, but find the bluetooth connectivity and companion app to be pretty useless.

Great toothbrush, I think the Bluetooth technology part is a bit much. It is a great product, price was a little high but all I ever use are Philips toothbrush products for my family, they do have a long product life.

Received in perfect condition and on time. It is working great. This is my second Flexcare Platinum. Did not realize connected meant needed to use Bluetooth with this toothbrush. Did not go online to set up and it still works well.

"I can't wait to get home to brush my teeth," is not a phrase I have ever even thought before. But I said it --out loud-- at work-- yesterday. Then I showed my coworkers my toothbrush app. It's a bold new world out there. I have used electric toothbrushes in the past. they were messy and loud, and just not worth the effort. This one is different, and the fact that it connects to my iPhone is just fun(and useful)! First of all, the heads are small enough to actually fit my mouth and hit every surface without slobbering all over the whole thing--gross, but true. The handle is a good size and easy to manipulate. It takes up minimal counter space, and comes with a carrying case for trips. The charge lasts about a week, so no need to pack the base on business trips. The brush, even without the app, guides you through a normal session with pauses and subtle buzzes. You get a zap when you are applying too much pressure, and a pause when it's time to change zones. So easy to use. There are settings for Clean, Whiten, and Deep Clean. Indicator led's tell the battery and Bluetooth status. The app is extremely easy to set up. Get the app, follow the instructions. Done. Each time you lift the brush from the base, it connects to the phone. Open the app and follow instructions to clean and polish. Track your progress, show off to your dentist, but mostly--just feel REALLY clean teeth all day. Oh, the app also tracks the wear of the brush heads based on time and pressure used, so you know when it's time to replace. The heads last about 90 days of twice daily 2+ minute sessions.
