I was really curious about this new toothbrush, because I couldn’t understand why it would cost $200, or need Bluetooth! While waiting for the delivery, I used Google to find this description: “sensors send your brushing data to the Sonicare app via Bluetooth®, providing you personalized coaching and feedback for a complete clean.” When I saw the images of the iPhone app for the toothbrush, I was under the impression that the toothbrush would actually create a map of your teeth as you brush. What it really does if show you a diagram of a normal mouth, and then walks you through brushing your teeth in six separate areas. Each area is allotted twenty seconds, for a total of two minutes brushing time. The sensors in the brush can tell whether you are doing the inside or outside of your teeth, but not exactly which section you are doing. If you follow the 20-second pattern, and do both sides of your teeth, the diagram will highlight which sections you’ve cleaned. If you miss a spot, that spot will be highlighted. The brush shuts off after the two minutes, but if you start it back up it app will continue to track the rest of your cleaning. The app also asks if you have flossed, rinsed your mouth, and scraped your tongue. Also, before you brush the first time, the app walks you through a survey regarding your dental health. The app will keep track of your progress as you brush, and you can even generate a report to send to your dentist. The handle of the brush has several different settings, including three different cleaning modes and three different intensities. Big tip – load up your toothpaste, but do NOT turn on the brush until it is in your mouth. I sent some toothpaste FLYING across the sink.  After using this brush for a week, I am very impressed with how clean my mouth feels. I think it is a combination of the action of the brush and the focus on making sure I clean each section for the proper length of time. I did get extra heads with the brush, and my wife has also been using it. She agrees that she also likes the way her teeth feel after using this brush. Spending this type of money on a toothbrush might seem a little weird, but for someone who has always hated going to the dentist, something this advanced that can actually help me take better care of my mouth is a good investment.

I have used previous sonicare toothbrushes in the past, and this one is pretty much exactly like the previous ones, but with the addition of the connected ability. Whats in the box: The toothbrush, two toothbrush heads, charging stand and a travel case. Features: Quite a few for a toothbrush. I'll skim over the basic parts. 3 different intensity settings, and 3 different cleaning modes, which basically changes the type of vibrations it uses. The connected features is what this toothbrush is all about, but it is a tad bit quirky. The toothbrush is very easy to connect to your phone, just download the app, push a button on the toothbrush to get it to light up, and its connected. You will need to set up a phillips account in order to get the app up and running on your phone. The app is fairly well laid out, and the main part of the app is a layout of your mouth. In order to brush "connected", you have to open the app, then turn on the toothbrush. The app divides your mouth into 6 parts, and you brush each part for 20 seconds. The toothbrush has built in gyros and accelerometers in order to know how it is angled, and therefore know which teeth you are cleaning. As you clean, the app will highlight which teeth you are supposed to be cleaning, and it knows how much pressure and movement you are using, and will correct you if you are doing something incorrectly. Once you have done your two minute brush, the app will let you know if you miss any spots, and will give you time to touch those up. A few other parts of the app include a points system (that I think are just for "feel good points"), where you earn points based on your brushing habits. It will also let you know when you need a new brush head. A few quirks: If you leave the charger unplugged, as I usually do since the battery lasts so long, the auto paring of the toothbrush is a bit wonky, and it doesn't always connect to the app. It uses knowing when it comes off of the charger as part of the smart connecting feature, and if the charger is unplugged it doesn't know when it comes off. You can also "offline brush", or brush without the app open, but all you get is a log of if you brushed that day, and at what time, no other tracking of your brushing besides that. So, with that, I would recommend this brush if you are in the market for a nice electric toothbrush, but I wouldn't rush to upgrade your current one if its working fine for you.

Great Toothbrush, but App is Less Impressive

First I want to say that I have used an electric toothbrush (by a competitor) for more than 15 years now, so I was looking forward to being able to try a Philips Sonicare product (FlexCare Platinum Connected in this case). A toothbrush with Bluetooth connectivity is something that I normally would not buy for myself, but it was offered by the Tech Insider Network. Overall, I found the experience with the toothbrush much more rewarding than my experience with the phone app. Considering all of the “water hazards” that exist in a bathroom, taking my cell phone in there makes me more than a little apprehensive. For me to use the app I have to turn on Bluetooth (I usually have it off) and change my phone’s auto-lock from my customary short setting. Along with the questions to answer after bushing and then changing my phone’s settings back, my toothbrushing experience has almost doubled in the time it takes from beginning to end. I have found that by watching the phone screen for prompts during usage, my focus is taken away from the actual act of brushing and I feel I might be doing a slightly less effective job. I suspect that extended use would alleviate this as the procedure becomes more practiced and ingrained. The whole training experience for proper technique that the app is designed to assist could be helpful to children and young people that need some coaching, but I think most adults with good oral hygiene habits already established will find little to be gained from the experience that the app provides. When I first start my brushing session, my normal routine is to turn on the electric toothbrush and distribute the toothpaste to all of the different areas in my mouth before concentrating on brushing the tooth surfaces themselves. This means I am about 5 to 10 seconds deep into the time period allotted to the first of six timed zones and that zone gets short changed when the timer goes off and you move to the next zone. Maybe a future version of the app will allow for some user customization to better fit an individual’s wants and needs. Now as for the toothbrush itself, my feelings are at the opposite end of the spectrum. The unit has a very high quality feel to it (as well it should at this price point), and the controls provided offer a good degree of adjustability for time periods and aggressiveness (intensity) Just make sure you keep your lips tight around the brush while it is running as it will sling foam everywhere - I did not have to be quite as careful with my old brush as it does not vibrate with the same frequency and intensity as this one does. At first I was a little concerned that the brush handle did not have any soft, grippy rubber on it to facilitate keeping your grip on it once it gets wet, but the “pebble” finish on it works better than I expected it to. The tactile “feel” of the buttons impart a high quality sensation to the unit. I end up getting my toothbrush handles completely wet with foam and water (when I rinse it off at the end of brushing), so I am wondering how the Sonicare will hold up over time since the buttons are not underneath a flexible waterproof membrane, but are rather individual buttons with gaps between them and the surrounding faceplate. The travel charger that my toothbrush came with is perfect for my use as it takes up little counter space. I have never been concerned about germs, so I have never felt the need for a sanitizer unit like some versions come with. The travel case is a nice addition for those who want to take their electric toothbrush with them - I personally just take a manual toothbrush to save on weight and volume when packing for a trip. I have been using the Sonicare for about a week, and I think that I might feel a slight improvement in the smoothness of my tooth surfaces and they seem to look a little whiter too. My plan is to continue with the Sonicare to my next dental checkup and see if my hygienist notices any differences. I have used only the AdaptiveClean brush head at this point, but I find that it works well for me and I find it to be a nice balance of being effective at cleaning without being overly harsh to gum tissue. I always thought my previous electric toothbrush as being more than adequate for my needs, but after getting accustomed to the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected, I suspect I will be buying another Sonicare product for my wife to use as she raved about it from the first time she tried it (we use separate bathrooms and have always had two electric handles). All-in-all, the toothbrush is a very impressive product, but I can’t seem to find the same enthusiasm for the Bluetooth connectivity and the app to help guide a user in proper brushing technique. I am sure some people will find it helpful for themselves or another family member that is still learning the finer points of good oral hygiene.

I am used to having electronic tooth brushes but this one feels very different. Since the head is smaller, it would seem more difficult to brush at first but after using it a couple of time the reason the head is smaller is because it cleans each tooth individually, like it should be. The tooth brush one with different parts so you can switch them is needed. The tooth brush itself has different settings which is probably my favorite part. You can choose to make it go at a normal speed, fast or faster. You can also choose between having your teeth clean, white or... The case that it comes with is very practical for traveling. Your tooth brush will always be protected. It even comes with its own app that helps you keep record and tells you how to properly brush with this product. For example, it tells how long to brush a specific part of your mouth and how to. I have felt a difference every time I clean my teeth and the app has definitely helped.

This is truly a 5 star product, and I would give more if I could. I have never used an electric toothbrush before and am ashamed at how poor of a toothbrusher I was after using this thing. At first I was a little skeptical about the whole bluetooth connecting to my phone via the app, but it really is helpful. It took a little getting used to at first, especially on the inside surfaces of my teeth. When I brushed with a normal toothbrush, I always brushed very quickly, rushing through the process. Having this thing in my mouth for the amount of time it was telling me to brush elicited a gag or too, but I very quickly got over it in a day or two. When used with the app, this thing tells you where to brush, how long to brush for, whether you are brushing too fast, and if you are using too much pressure. After you are done, it even asks if you scraped your tongue and if you used mouthwash. Apparently, you can send your brushing results to your dentist, but I haven't gotten there yet, lol. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with this product. My teeth feel cleaner than ever. Who knew that an electric toothbrush could be so good? Highly recommend.

A Luxury Level Tooth Brush with an App

Three Modes and different intensity levels make this a great toothbrush. I use the deep clean and high intensity and it massages the gums and does a great job on the teeth as well. I've been using electric toothbrushes for a long time and this is the best one I've used, although I have to admit its been about 4 years since I bought my last one before this. The App on a smartphone connects easily to the toothbrush and will give you visual feedback on what you are doing and can keep track of your toothbrush head use and when to replace it. But after using the App for a few times, I haven't bothered with it, the toothbrush itself will let you know if it thinks you are pressing too hard when brushing. For those new to electric toothbrushes or those who really don't like brushing, the app might be just the thing to motivate you to brush your teeth and massage your gums better. A single charge lasted me about 10 days or so.

This is not my first Sonicare, but my third as we try to stay with the most current model due to the number of changes and increased performance of this brand. We always try to get a coupon form our dentist to use as part of this purchase. This toothbrush is excellent, it has taught us changes in habits for our brushing to get an even better clean feeling while learning where we thought we were brushing correctly could be improved. The connected app allows you to see a history of your changes and shows you where/how you should change your brushing habits. The brushes that come with it have a sensor built into that is used to determine and identify the amount of pressure you're placing on your gums and teeth as you brush. This has to be one of their best toothbrushes yet. What mama always teaches works, but can always be improved upon.

Dental hygiene is more and more important as not taking care of teeth and gums can lead to a whole host of other problems. Enter this fantastic toothbrush to help in your quest for better health. First thing I did was fully charge the toothbrush, once charged setup was a breeze, just put one of the 2 included brush heads on and you are ready to go. In order to best take advantage of the advanced features of the Sonicare Connected Toothbrush all you need to do is download the Sonicare App and connect the toothbrush to your phone via Bluetooth which couldn't have been easier. Once connected the app works along with the toothbrush to tell you how long to brush and where and then tells you to go back to areas you didn't brush so well. Absolutely brilliant! Looking forward to making this a part of my everyday routine!

A Well Made Good Performing Electric Toothbrush

I've used Philips Sonicare toothbrushes for years with good results. The Philips Sonicare - Flexcare Platinum Connected Toothbrush is a new luxury edition to be sure, but it has brought improvements as well. It offers three cleaning modes - Clean, White, and Deep Clean. Clean mode is the standard mode. White mode offers cleaning and massage alternating. Deep Clean offers a deeper message and cleaning, as you might expect. The brush also has three intensity levers; low, medium, high. All of these setting offer you the opportunity to have the Philips Sonicare - Flexcare Platinum Connected Toothbrush provide a comfortable use experience for you since some can tolerate more brushing activity while others not so much. I set mine to Deep Clean and the intensity to high. It's not uncomfortable at all for me, and I've found it really does an excellent cleaning job as well as massaging the gums, which improves gum health. I would recommend this toothbrush over other electric toothbrushes I've used in the past, or over manual toothbrushes in that it simply does a better job. In addition, it comes with two different brush sizes. I believe, in all, you can select from four different size brushes when replacing brush heads. Lastly, this toothbrush has BlueTooth so that you can download the iOS or Android app for your phone. Your toothbrush will then connect through the app allowing you to receive instructions for a better brushing experience. It keeps track, in the app, of use of the brush head so you know the optimum time to replace it as wall as keeping track of whether you've missed spots in your mouth while brushing. You can even subscribe to a brush head subscription through the app to replace brush heads.

I've previously used a manual toothbrush and switched to Sonicare. I really do like how clean my teeth feels after using this vs a manual toothbrush. I've only been using it for a week, but they feel cleaner. I guess I'll have to wait until my next checkup to see what if my dentist can tell a difference. What I like: Easy to change the settings. Toothbrush seems to hold a charge for a while. The travel charger is convenient as well, so I might take it on trips as opposed to a manual toothbrush going forward. What I don't like: Nothing really What I could live without: I tried the app. It was neat the first time. Not sure how accurate the sensor is, but I can't see using it often. Overall, the toothbrush is great and I hope to get many years out of it.

Toothbrush: A bit of an inconvenience, but not unusual, it is recommended that the toothbrush be charged for 24 hours before first use. There is a small plastic frame for the charging base that accommodates two spare brush heads. Brush heads are easy to put on and take off for cleaning. There are three brushing modes (clean, white, and deep clean) and three intensity levels within each mode. This seems like overkill to me, but you are sure to find a combination that meets your needs. The brush signals you every 20 seconds to encourage you to move to another area of your mouth. The brush will also let you know if you are putting too much pressure on the brush head. This feature is good for those new to electronic brushes and helps prevent unintended gum damage. The unit is quiet and smooth during operation; a welcome relief relative to my old one. I will miss scavenging the magnets from my old brush heads (they used to come in handy on my refrigerator). The brushes with this unit do not have magnets. Software: The software may be helpful for those new to Sonicare toothbrushes, but there are some things that could stand improvement. When you first launch the app, you are asked to give some details about your brushing habits. Mine were not in the list of options. There is no option in the software to indicate that you use a manual toothbrush AND an electronic one. Bluetooth pairing during use is automatic so long as the app is open and Bluetooth is enabled. The software does well when you follow the suggested pattern (start top-right and finish bottom-right). However, it doesn’t adapt well to a different brushing pattern and gets confused if you don’t follow the suggested pattern on the screen. You will be prompted to go back over area it thinks you neglected. There are also reference to “scraping” which were not part of my vocabulary. There is apparently a rubber brush head called a “tongue scrapper” intended to keep your tongue clean and breath fresh. I use a manual toothbrush for this purpose (TMI?).

This is by far the best toothbrush I've ever owned. I've always brushed too hard and even with soft bristles have had some gumline recession. This toothbrush was easy to setup with my iPhone and the app tells me if I'm applying too much pressure when brushing. This alone makes this toothbrush worth the price for me. It also lets you know whether you've spent enough time brushing the different areas of your mouth. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion. The only downside is you have to put it back on the charger to reset the timer for use in the app. Not enough of an inconvenience to remove a star though.

Open this box was exciting. I've never owned a Toothbrush that was this complex and valueable. It can be connected to Bluetooth for goodness sakes! Though I havent used that feature yet, it apparently keeps track of your brushing habits and tells you which spots need better brushing. As far as set up and use, easy as can be expected. My mouth is on a whole new level of clean! I don't think I'll ever be able to go with a manual Toothbrush again. Excellent make, Phillips!

We've been Sonicare users for the last two decades. So I was extremely happy to have tried this from Best Buy when it became available. This new model is much more powerful than the predecessors and brush heads gives a much deeper cleaning than ever before. The unit does have settings to allow you to adjust the power of the vibration, but we always leave it at the highest setting. After each use, the whole mouth feels clean and refreshed and the gums gets a really good and healthy massage. I highly recommend it.

First off, I love this toothbrush. After the very first use it made me feel like I'd just been to the dentist. There is a very short learning curve to get used to the subtle differences in vibration which are intended to let you know when to change to different areas of your mouth. The app has a timer and visual cues as to where you need to brush more. If you like techy stuff, this is a great thing to add to your morning and evening routines. The battery life seems really good so far but time will tell on that one. As for the companion app, it has some good information but could have a few more things to make it more useable. For instance, the toothbrush has a couple of different modes that can only be toggled on or off by pressing and holding two buttons on the handle while it is on the charger. These should be able to be switched using the app in my opinion. The instructions that come with the toothbrush leave quite a bit to be desired so it's a bit of trial and error to get it set up. Once that's done it's just a matter of powering on and taking off. Pairing is a breeze, at least with my iPhone 7. One thing to note for your first use...make sure your toothpaste is really on the head. Otherwise it will vibrate right off into the sink. Overall, I'm loving the clean feeling of my teeth and would definitely recommend!

The toothbrush was very easy to use. The power button is easy to find while brushing and the three speed settings are great. I used it on the lowest setting which was fine. The power base is small so it doesn't take up a lot of room on the counter. It comes with two sizes of brush heads and I decided to go with the larger one as it is the size of regular toothbrush head. It is quite lightweight and have been pleased with the results for the week I've used it.

This was the first electric toothbrush I've used. I've used the traditional toothbrush for many years, probably long past I should have. I do have periodontal disease and I don't brush my teeth nearly as well as I should. This motivated me to finally try an electric brush. The brush is packed very nicely, and is easy to set up. The Bluetooth feature is nice, but I don't know that it's necessary. The app is only available on iPhones, and even though I could download it to my iPad, the resolution was poor. I didn't use that feature. The vibration of the brush is something that you'll need to get used to, if this is your first Sonicare. You'll need to learn how to get the toothpaste on to your brush and get it on your teeth before the brush vibrates it off. I had a couple of mishaps with that. The brush is FANTASTIC at cleaning your teeth. I used the "clean" function, and my teeth felt great after the first use. With the old brush, I would still feel like there was a film on my teeth. In between cleanings, I would certainly feel like I was due for one. With the Sonicare, my teeth feel like I just visited the dentist. I won't be going back to a manual brush after using the Sonicare.

So I have had several Oral B toothbrushes over the years, and this one compares very nicely to them. It has several settings so you can get it right where you like it. Even on the lowest setting it is still very strong. I totally feel that my mouth and teeth are clean after using this brush. It has a nice weight when holding it. One area I was a little concerned with when I opened it up out of the box, was it seemed hard to put the brush head on. ON the Oral B, they just slip right on. On this one you have to push it all the way down with some force to get it to snap in place. This is probably a good thing, so it doesn't come off, but I was afraid I was pushing too hard at first. So be prepared to push fairly hard to get the head to go on. The travel case is really nice, and the added brush head covers are nice too, so you feel like the heads are staying clean when not being used. Overall very happy with the toothbrush.
