Chop Chop!

I like cooking, but tend to dislike 2 things associated with it: extensive prep and doing the dishes. The Multi Chopper is part of my answer to improving the former.
My first thought of the Multi Chopper out of the box was that it is one of the most well built automated chopping/cutting devices I had used. The Viva Collection seems to consistently produce a nice grade of product - something I can really appreciate.
The chopper comes packed with 2 cutting blades, one for larger chopped pieces, the other for fine chopping. Put in your dry vegetables or fruit, press down, and watch it work. I think the chopper does a decent job handling the variety thrown at it, and it is very powerful, making most cuts easily. There are occasions, as with other tools such as this one, where it tends to leave a little more in the grate than desired, but overall, I think it does a much better job than most.
This is a great tool for nearly anyone that prepares meals. It is powerful, consistent, and produces desired results.

Nearly perfect chopper

I like to make salsas - and in doing so need to chop up lots of onions, tomatoes and peppers. i have a hand-power chopper from the MN State fair that does a pretty good job - but things can get soupy if you are not paying attention. The design of this chopper is supposed to prevent that - as the chopped pieces fall into the container once sufficiently chopped. Great concept - and it does a pretty good job, but not perfect. The product advertising pic is a bit misleading. It should show onion all over the sides of the container, etc - as that actually what happens. They cleaned that container up for looks.
As for chopping - it makes quick work of everything I've thrown at it and would recommend it to friends and family if they don't already have some sort of chopper or theirs broke. Super easy cleanup via a rinse, easy and compact to store and fun to use (push to chop), then watch it drop. Kinda fun!

The Philips Viva Multi Chopper is an interesting little thing that has, IMO, limited purpose.
It is great for making salsa or guacomole. It's easy to clean. And it is an interesting design.
However, it is not actually all that great for cutting vegatables. This is largely because the instructions tell you to cut the vegatables into small squares yourself before placing them in the Viva. One or two more quick knife cuts would accomplish the same thing, and I'd have one less item to clean.
There are really only two sizes: small and fine. That's better than other devices where the settings are really random and paste. At least the Viva is consistent. It that regard, it is a cut above the other food choppers out there.
If it could get the same results without needing everything to be pre-cut so small, I'd love it. However, that's not the case; so it's value is limited. It is very good at making salsa and guac, but I don't see a lot value in it, otherwise.
As long as you know that, I can recommend it.

I have had many different choppers, but I really like the basket that this comes with so that everything you chop has the same consistency in size by passing through the holes in the basket. Other choppers definitely lack that and you end up with large pieces and tiny pieces and basically don't know what size you are going to end up with.. I like that it comes with an extra blade more for blending or mixing fine ingredients into things like puree. Easy cleanup without many parts. Definitely worth the money if you like to cook with consistency in your dishes. Look for the extra blade in the packaging, because you could miss that it is attached to the cardboard packaging and throw out the box without realizing that the blade is in there...like I almost did.

Good at what it does, but unnecessary

Like most modern niche appliances that are cool and good at what they do but are ultimately rendered duplicative, the Philips chopper is hard to justify using.
Don't get me wrong, this chopper is good. Almost fun to use. And clean up is a breeze (keeping the food separated from the motor base was great design choice). But when I need it, I ask myself, do I want to go through the effort of getting it out of the cabinet, plugging it in, cleaning it up and putting it back? Or just continue using the knife in my hand? After using the first couple of times, I don't pull it out of the cabinet anymore as it's too much work.
It has a smart design that makes it easy to use. For instance, there's no buttons. You push on the top of the device and it works (the motor is on top). The basket is a nice feature because it seems to create uniform pieces. The blades chop up the onions and then when they get to be just the right size (i.e. small enough to fit through the whole in the basket) they fall into the bottom of the device. As I mentioned, it's easy to clean and take a part.
What's not easy to use/read, are the instructions. Phillips continues to lead the market (with all of its consumer electronics) in creating difficult to understand instruction manuals. The pictograms are difficult to interpret and the manual is difficult to navigate. For example, it says one blade is best for dicing onions...well which one?? I used the blade that doesn't require the pretty purple basket but couldn't get anything to chop, the large pieces of onion kept getting stuck to the side. Luckily, this device is pretty simple to use, so the terrible instructions manual get a pass. Even if you don't open the instructions manual, most people can spend 3 minutes figuring out how to use it (NOTE there's no power button!) as there are only 5 pieces including 2 blades.
If you know you want a chopper, then this is a great one to buy. If you are thinking you'll make your life easier, ask yourself whether or not you'll want this on your counter top and if the answer's no, then do you want to get it out every time you need it. At the end of the day, I find it more trouble than it's worth.

500. yes 500 watts of chopping power.
Chunk up what you want to chop into 2 inch or smaller pieces and the chopper will make short order of providing uniform size pieces for you.
Easily chops vegetables, nuts, cheese, chocolate etc and grinds small quantities of meats.
It has the drop and chop system as well as a regular chopping grinding blade.
When the pieces reach the optimum size they drop thru the holes in the inner basket into the collection area for your use.
All but the motorized part is dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.
This will be a big timesaver for us with the upcoming preparation of many holiday dishes giving us less time in the kitchen and more time to enjoy the family :)

Simply put:
Super Easy Vegetable Chopping
Fast – Will Dice up an Onion in Seconds with No Tears
Quick Easy Cleanup
That is, it in a Nutshell, it is exactly what I have always wanted to see in a vegetable chopper (one of my pet peeves when I cook is all the time spent slicing and dicing). Have used numerous choppers in the past, none that I tried are still in my kitchen. This one has a spot on the counter.
If you want to chop and dice quickly with easy cleaning I suggest you give it twirl.

I used this to chop up some onions and broccoli for some broccoli cheddar soup, and never realized what I was missing until now. Oh my gosh. It is pretty straightforward to use - you just assemble it, plug it in, and push on the top of the chopper, and voila, in seconds your food is chopped. The ONLY complaint I have about it is you have to cut up the onions a bit before you use the chopper (instructions said smaller than 2”x2”), which is an extra step in what would be an otherwise perfect lazy girl kitchen gadget!

It might be a good dicer, but we will not get to find out :-) Ut arrived faulty and when we plugged it in, we could not get it to work at all. Based on this we decided not to go with a replacement unit.

Works exactly as you’d want it to. Once the pieces are chopped to the right size, they drop down so they don’t get dropped any smaller. I really like that feature, especially for salsas, guacamole, and dips. I made 2 recipes from the recipe book it came with (salsa and guacamole) and they’ve turned out really well! Everyone loved the recipe and actually asked if they could get the recipe from me. A little bigger than I thought it be, but still fits in one of my cabinets, so size isn’t an issue.

I'm not the most experienced cook and have often struggled with chopping ingredients by hand using a knife and chopping block. The Philips MultiChopper makes doing this a breeze. The ChopDrop technology leveraging the ChopDrop blade unit and multichopper basket ensures that you get perfectly diced onions and similar items in seconds. It even comes with a handy recipe book to help you make salsa, guacamole, hummus and other tasty treats. I am happy to recommend this product to any cook.

Nice Addition to Kitchen

The Philips Viva Multi Chopper was very easy to assemble and operate. There are no switches or settings to fool with. You simply select which chopping option is appropriate (using the Chop Drop basket for most veggies and fruits) or the basin which is more like a traditional food processor to be used with vegetables, fruits, nuts, meats, and cheeses. Using the chop drop feature, you put what needs chopping into the basket and place the motor unit on top. Applying a light pressure to the motor will activate it. As the pieces are chopped, they fall through the Chop Drop basket once they are small enough to fit through the holes. This produces a very uniform fine dice. The one thing I wish is that there was a way to have a larger dice. The main chopping basin is just like a traditional food processor and works as expected dicing and mixing whatever you place into it. Cleanup was very easy as there are only a few pieces (the basin, the basket, and the blade). I just rinsed off under water and some soap and it was just like new.
In conclusion, I would recommend this if you hate dealing with chopping lots of veggies. It produces a very fine chop so would be good for many kitchen uses. I threw baby carrots, whole radishes, and large chunks of onions and had a very consistent product each time without anything turning to mush.

I have quite a few choppers, but none of them chops celery, egg, onion, etc. as well as this one. With other choppers it was either bigger pieces or overly chopped pieces and mush. The "right size" was not an option. I made a chicken salad with celery and onions - literally in a few minutes! Oh, and it is so easy to clean as well!

This Philips - Viva Collection Multi Chopper is basically like all powered choppers except for 1 innovative function. The chop drop feature. If you have used a chopper without this function before I'm sure like me you have pulverized some carrots or onions before by leaving the chopper on to long and ending up with a pile of carrot mush. Well this chopper has a great function where once the pieces of veggie get to a certain size they fall through the drop cup and can no longer be chopped by the blade. No more carrot or onion mush!!!!
the operation of this Philips - Viva Collection Multi Chopper is very easy also. just put your veggies in the drop cup, put the motor top on and push down. perfectly chopped veggies in a matter of seconds.
The description of the features makes it sound like there is multiple speed settings but the chopper is automatic and speeds only change with the blade you use. If you are using the chopper blade without the chop drop it will chop with more power to get a finer chopped product for things like making salsa or guacamole.
I love it.

Extremely convenient for chopping onions, peppers and tomatoes for salsa. Haven't tried carrots or celery but it seems to be powerful enough to handle them. Easy to use, easy to clean, much more convenient than a food processor.

My wife tends to make hundreds of Philippine Lumpia (egg rolls) at a time. The prep work for this involves slicing LOTS of veggies. After a marathon cooking day or two, she would complain of pain in her hands and wrists from all the slicing and dicing. In comes the Philips Viva Collection chopper. My wife unpacked it and got it ready for a test drive. At first, she couldn't get the top to screw onto the cup but then realized that it just sits on it and you push it down to engage the motor. She complained here was no on/off switch prior to that, but once she got the operation down, she was off to the races. So now, onions, carrots, potatoes and all the other sliced ingredients of Lumpia are no longer my wife's pain. The chopper does an excellent job of both large and small, with two different sized blades for different types of materials needing chopped. This is now one of the most utilized appliances in our kitchen! Thanks Philips!

This is a really convenient little product to have for dicing up my own ingredients while cooking. It's pretty easy to set up, and doesn't require much counter space when assembled. So far, I've tested onions and tomatoes with it, and both worked really well - far faster than doing it by hand (at least for me) and it consistently produces nice small pieces.
If I could improve anything about it, it would be to make it somehow slightly easier to clean up. But that is hardly something I can fault it for.
It's a great little product to have that can be a big time-saver.

Like many people, we're trying to eat better things these days. I'm not very good as a sous chef at it takes me a long time to chop up veggies to prepare for meals. The Phillips Multi Chopper cuts prep time by 90%. Setup is super-quick and you can start chopping in minutes. I find this to be great for onions as it avoids a lot of the hassle when you chop them.
Operation the machine is easy. You just push the food down and it starts. Cleanup was also very easy and it looks great on your counter or can store in a small space in a cabinet.
Great machine!

Use a green pepper and an onion to test both blades on the chopper. I used the green pepper with the ChopDrop and the inner basket. It was done cutting the green pepper in seconds.
Next I used the regular blade on the onion. I cut the onion into quarters and swapped out the DropChop and inner basket. The onion was also complete in seconds.
I could see the difference in size between the DropChop blade and the regular blade.
This chopper is now a permanent fixture in my kitchen.

I use this electric chopper to dice tomatoes and onions, it is very good at chopping up vegetables and other ingredients into small chunks. This is due to the design which includes two different type blades, one that includes a basket, allowing pieces to fall through the basket into the bottom portion of the chopper. This is useful especially for items (such as tomatoes, onions and cheeses) that you don't want to turn into a paste like substance that a standard food processor would create. I can think of a few other ingredients this chopper would do a good job on, including creating finely chopped ice. The second blade provided acts as a chopper similar to a food processor. The unit is built well and cleans up easily with really only three parts to clean (four if you use the basket). Overall this is a nice chopper if you do a lot of food preparation, it is kind of a niche item.
