Tv was quickly delivered and has good quality and good sounds, looks good in my garage!

I purchased this Pioneer 4k TV sight unseen, due to extended Black Friday pricing and because the brand name stood for excellence a decade or so ago. The short verdict is this new iteration of Pioneer is not worthy of the brand. My full experience with this television follows. Unboxing was standard. The television is well protected, but telltale signs of the quality of the set was plain to see from the outside of the box. Premium television sets are usually packed within white boxes with colorful images of the television you’ve purchased shown on both sides of the box. In contrast, this television came in a simple brown box with a cheesy black drawing of the television sketched on the side. Setup was actually the best part of owning this set. The V-shaped legs screw into the bottom of the set and literally take less than 5 minutes to install. The ports are located on the left side of the set (when facing the TV) and the only time you have to deal with the rear panel of the set is when you plug in power and a digital antenna if you use one. While I did have to expend some energy in finding the power and ethernet ports on this set. However, I was able to locate the digital antenna connection by touch and screwed it in while standing slightly to the left (when facing the TV) of the set. I must say, auto-programming was the highlight of the setup process, as I somehow ended up with 77 free channels of digital over-the-air content. To those wondering about the remote control, know the remote for this television is about the same size as that of a Fire TV. In fact, this television’s remote control looks very much like a 3rd generation Fire TV 4k Alexa voice remote, except this television remote has been extended by about 2 inches (5.08 cm) or 3 inches (7.62 cm) to accommodate Pioneer branding. The worst part of this set was by far the viewing experience. I am partly to blame for this, as having Pioneer-branding elevated my expectations for the quality of this 4k panel and the sound it would reproduce. Sadly, I was sorely disappointed with both. To test this set visually I immediately, went to YouTube and watched some 8k video. Landscapes and other stationary objects were breathtaking! At times, this television looked more like an artist’s canvas rather than merely a TV. I then started watching Prime Video’s Wheel of Time series in 4K on this set, and this is where my experience fell apart. This television poorly handles skin tones. I tried toggling the picture modes to find something that tamed the set’s attempts at adjusting flesh tones, but nothing worked. As you view content on this set, you’ll notice flesh tones fluctuating between warm to cold; faces will even pixelate at times. This experience is consistent irrespective of the source, so it was not my 2-Gig hardwired internet causing the issue. It’s a flaw in the set. Visuals are only part of the viewing experience though so I shifted my attention to the audio experience this set delivers. Again, I thought with Pioneer’s reputation, the audio of this set would be good; sadly, it was only fair - at best! Audio can get loud thanks to the comparatively large cabinets of these speakers, but there is no bass. All I heard was a muddied mix of mids and highs with the higher frequencies being of the fatiguing variety. I inevitably took advantage of the 3.5 mm audio jack and plugged in my B&O Beolit 20 Speaker which crushes any similarly sized soundbar or speaker on the market. The other part of this set that caused me to rate it so poorly was the aggressiveness with which the set pushes you to Prime Video. You have to go to ‘settings’, then ‘display and sounds’, then ‘power controls’, and finally to ‘power on’ and set that to ‘last input’ to get the TV to default to starting up on cable, assuming cable was the last input device you used. Even then, the television will randomly jump to Prime Video while you are in the middle of watching a program on cable or via the antenna. Finally, even when you accept being pushed to Prime Video and try watching something there, the set will refuse to play content in 4K even with a 2-Gig hardwired connection. What’s worse, some ‘premium content’ like Thursday Night Football, that I get access to as an Amazon Prime Subscriber is not available for some reason. I had to bring my FireTV Cube back into my bedroom and set it to an input to access all the video content my prime subscription allows me to access. Overall, if you are just getting this set for a kid’s room where games and kid’s shows will be played, this set will be fine. My final price for this television was less than 310 dollars, and I received a free Echo Dot and Singled smart light bulb to go along with this 4k television. That’s quite a bargain and as far as cheap TV’s go, this one is OK for the price. However, once Black Friday pricing for this set expires there will be better options on the market within this television's price range, and I’d consider two or three of the more highly rated ones over this Pioneer. In fairness, this Pioneer TV does a better job of picking up over-the-air channels than did the older Samsung TV it replaced, and background visuals and landscapes are impressive at times. Unfortunately, this set’s inability to reproduce acceptable (let alone accurate) skin tones, pushy and inconsistent Prime Video experience, and loud but unimpressive audio make it hard for me to recommend. 2.0 out of 5.0.

Great product for the be price. The TV works well, picture is clear and sharp. Right now we use it to stream our shows. Would buy again!
