I've been eyeing this radio since 2016 but I couldn't justify the msrp of 700-800 dollars. I waited and notice BB had it for 499 with no rebate. I prefer no rebates most other authorized places give you a 150 mail in visa card rebate but I didn't want to wait so this was perfect. Ordered it and it arrived in 3 business days with free shipping. The avh 4201 and the 4200 are the same but the 4201 gives you a backup camera. I ordered the other parts I needed off of Am@zon (metra dash kit, pac harness, loom for the camera wires, antenna adapter, dual usb extension cables, micro by pass), came out to about 65 for the extra parts for my 05 chevy colorado. After dry fitting and soldering all the wires, everything worked out nicely. The hardest part was running the backup camera wires under the truck bed and into the cabin. Dvd player works fine along with bluetooth connectivity, sd card reader, android auto on usb 2, phone calls. Sound was improved compared to stock. I installed a component Infinity 6 1/2 in the front and 6 1/2 coaxial in the rear along with my dual low profile mtx 8" in a seal box under the rear seats powered by a 300 watt RF dual channel amp. I can hear different musical instruments in songs now. Features of the radio are solid. Able to stream Amazon music, spotify, pandora, iheart radio through bluetooth or through android auto. I did notice sound clarity and db levels are noticably clearer and stronger through android auto than compared to straight bluetooth. Able to have two custom EQ's or 4 presets from Pioneer. I like how they have 13 band EQ to fine tune sound output depending on what type of music you play. Max SD card is 32gb but unlimited for usb expansion. Read my 8 gb sd with no problem. Android auto works flawlessly with my note 5. Both USB has an output charge of 1.6amps. One issue I have is the proprietary backup camera. But the backup camera wire is very long 10 meters so I had to tuck the rest behind the dash. The wire is comes in two pieces. Make sure you leave the connection point of the camera to the harness near the back of the car so you can access it if you need to replace or service the camera. The camera was small enough that I was able to mount it above my license plate and under the tail gate. Very stealth amd hidden. I was able to find my reverse trigger source under the truck (light green wire) and it was next to a rubber grommet under the drivers seat hooked that up to the purple/white reverse, power (red) to the wire harness, and ground (black) to the frame. I wired it as Pioneer recommends so you are able to toggle the reverse camera anytime the stereo is on and while in reverse. I plan on getting a second camera for the front in the near feature (another brand). The other issue with the camera is that day time visibility is fine but night time clarity is horrible. Very grainy regardless of street light conditions. It reminds me of my dads over the air Goldstar color crt tv back in 80's. I consider it free so eh DGAF. For the price of 499 +tax it is a bargain. Screen is responsive, android auto works fine, bluetooth is decent but this unit has expandability options for rear entertainment, GPS, satellite radio, 6 channel rca output, and an included remote. I'm glad I bought it. It also came with the latest 1.06 firmware out of the box so I know bestbuy is getting newer units straight from Pioneer. I have installed previous stereos in the past so install for me was easy, I would say 2 out 10 for difficulty but I have a back ground in welding/engineering. Definitely read the manual and look at youtube videos if you are wanting to install this by yourself or if this is your first install. Look up Five Star Install, they have great tutorials for this specific model and how to properly wire a backup camera. Tools I used include wire strippers, phillips #2 screw driver, tie straps, razor to trim the metra bezel, soldering iron, heat shrink, 18 gauge wire for reverse trigger, wire cutters, 12v multi-meter.

Picked this up for my wife’s 2006 RX 400h and she is extremely happy with it. It connects to either of our phones via bluetooth as soon as we enter the vehicle and has the ability to handle the all of the main phone functions within the unit. The thing that kept this at 4 vs 5 stars is that the phone apple car and android auto has to be done via usb cord connection. Other than that, setup was a breeze (self installed) especially with the idata link ability (sold separately) and the sirius XM antenna (also sold separately). This unit doesnt have nav like the more expensive versions but that isnt an issue at all since the usb connect allows for maps, google maps & waze functionality out the box. Its also a lot cheaper this way with the most up to the minute drive time info. Just sayin’ ;) Finally, I must talk about the dual zone controls and the hdmi hookups. This is a godsend since I have a lil one that loves his movies. With this unit he can watch his movie in the back with the headrest unit and i can still listen to my stuff. I just needed a long enough hdmi cable and it all connected seamlessly. Hope this helps.

I love the updated technology & the ability to use Bluetooth with my iPhone while we’re traveling. The display is great & user friendly. The installation by the Geek Squad was excellent & quick in our 2001 Ford F550 Everything we expected. Looking forward to learning how to navigate & be able to listen to music on my iPhone & iPod.

We got this Stereo for my husband’s truck because we wanted a rearview camera. It works really well with Apple CarPlay. That’s the best part about the stereo. We had to get a different camera to use with the stereo however because there was no place on the back of the truck to put the camera because it’s so big. We added the license plate camera to the stereo and it works really good. I love that it has HD radio, satellite radio, and the Apple CarPlay apps like Pandora and Amazon Music. It’s just a really good touchscreen stereo especially if you have an iPhone. Don’t think you’re going to be able to watch movies on it though because it doesn’t work with the DVD player unless the car is in park. Who wants to watch a movie in a truck that sitting still? I was hoping to let the kids watch while we travel, but that’s not the case.

I'm totally happy with this stereo, I had it installed it in a 2008 wrangler, and added the rear cam that comes w it. The apple car play is great, the other features work as they should, the SD card is cool. The face is removable for when it's parked. I ran cables from the extra connections into my glovebox for future potential use, aux cable, 2nd USB, HDMI etc. A good stereo. Funny though how expensive these stereos are when a-lot of the functionality comes from our phones.

I don't know what the heck is wrong with this radio, I got it installed on May 1st, on May 6th I was driving to work and the music shut off (after being in the car for MAYBE 2 minutes) and a warning came on the screen that says, "product overheat. system will be shut down automatically in 1 minute. Restart the product by ACC-OFF/On may fix this problem. If this message keeps showing up, it is possible that some problem occured in the product." ((you would think if they were going to put that long of a warning on a screen they would AT LEAST spell "occurred" correctly.)) So the only way to get the radio to come back on is to pull over, turn the car off, and turn it back on. I did that, and it was on about 2 minutes, and it happened again. After work, I drove around quite a bit in the afternoon and had no issues. The next day, the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED, shut off after my first stop sign...which isn't even a quarter mile from my driveway. I have run TONS of errands today, car on and off, on and off, ad every single time, the freakin thing is "over-heating" (or whatever the heck is happening) within a minute. So I have ZERO radio, nothing, silence, called my local Geek Squad that installed and was told he is on vacation till the 11th. The next closest Geek Squad place the dude is on Paternity Leave until the 18th, the NEXT closest Geek Squad location that does audio installs is over an hour and a half away from me, I'm not driving an hour and a half with NO FREAKIN RADIO. I'm ticked I spent a thousand bucks on this radio the satellite adapter thing, the warranties, the installations, all that, Happy Birthday to Me! My THOUSAND DOLLAR radio worked for 5 days, and now I have to wait that same amount of time to get someone to look at it and tell me what the issue is.

Got it for Android Auto - still learning features

I got this because of the large amount of 4-5 start reviews. I've only had it installed for a week so I'm still learning about all the features and settings. Things I love: 1) a 100% got this for Android Auto, and it was a higher quality than one of the lower priced options. 2) sound quality is great, hookup to my phone is great and easy, radio controls are easily accessible. Android Auto is seamless. 3) Backup camera quality is great, good colors, wide image, and really easy to see. Things that I didn't expect: 1) the install price! just over $500! (I'm a newbie to this but way higher than I expected). Also the installer said that in order to connect to Android Auto, a usb cable would be dangling out from the radio (connected to the back) that I would hook my phone to. That sounded so silly - this $600 radio should come with a usb input! Why this dangling cord? So I paid the guy $20 to install a flush mount usb in my dash to make it look nice. 2) my blinker noise changed, does this happen with all new radios? I guess it makes sense, but I didn't expect that and it sounds weird enough that it sometimes bothers me...I can't figure out if that's a setting I can adjust. In the end, I'm glad I did it because my wireless phone/bluetooth experience is sooo nice to have available now.

Nice easy to use stereo, with all the bells and whistles. Even comes with a back up camera, but to install that is an extra fee. So, to sum it up, this stereo does it all and, for the price, it's unbeatable.

The double din stereo has a nice physical appearance. The controls are very simple to use and the apple car play feature is extremely nice. Being able to use all of your iphones capabilities from the car stereo simplifies the phone experience . Being able to also see what your phone is doing at a glance is a nice feature. The fact that all things from the phone work great like Siri is what is remarkable. The hands free microphone and satellite radio make this a unit that is hard to compete with. Even your directional map with live time can be placed on the screen so there is not the added expense of a higher priced navigation stereo. The best bang for the technological buck. The only room for any kind of improvement is that your phone needs to be hard wired to the unit. I had my cable mounted in the center console. The cable runs from the back of the unit and is not visible . Unfortunately, the apple car play feature transports too much data and is not current available through Bluetooth .

This was one of the most expensive decks that were being offered at my local Best Buy. However, it also included a quality backup camera with installation, which added up to $125.00 or more in savings. Very worth the extra $25 - $50, I paid for the deck. The installation was top notch and only took 45 minutes. The technician showed me how to operate the deck including the backup camera. The view from the camera is very clear. Everything is easy to operate and plug and play with my iPhone. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and would recommend the product and installation service to friends and family.

We purchased this to use Apple CarPlay and have only become more pleased as Apple continues to upgrade the system and provide access to more apps. The one immediate annoyance upon installation is that the kits do not come with the lightning cable needed to connect your phone to the cable they install in your glove compartment to connect to the system. For all the money you pay for the hardware and installation, making you buy an additional piece is stupid and meant we couldn’t test out our system for navigation en route home. A couple things that should be enhanced at some point but are by no means deal breakers: the buttons that control your radio/disc/volume on the system are easy to mix up. They are not really raised so I find myself fumbling to find where they are and often hit the wrong button because they are smallish and not too distinguishable from the face of the panel. That’s not something I should have to mess around with while driving. I miss my turner from the old car radio that made changing stations or adjusting the volume an easy and no-looks-required process. Also, if it’s is particularly sunny and the light is entering the car at a certain angle, the screen can be washed out and almost impossible to see. That hasn’t happened very often but did happen once or twice when driving during twilight and dawn hours. Again, something that should have been tweaked in design because we are buying this to be hands free and not a distraction while driving. The sound is clear, the microphome does a good job of picking up our voice commands and the speakers are more than loud enough for phone calls and audio playback. If you bring it for installation, they may tell you that it will take several hours to be on the safe side but our installation took barely more than an hour. That would have been great except we were told to allot for 4 hours and so made an hour drive home after dropping the vehicle off only to have to turn around and come back almost immediately. With a two year old in the car and cranky about the third long trip in one morning, that was not pleasant. Overall we are really thankful for this system and the way it has enhanced our car trips. The navigation capabilities are more than worth the purchase and we just wish the buttons made it safer to use the audio system to its fullest ability.

I could not be happier with this Pioneer head unit. Fit nicely into the dash of my 2007 Passat. HD and Satellite radio, bluetooth, camera, and Android Auto functionality all work very well. Can play DVDs but I have not got around to that. Good discounted price on head unit. Installation is not cheap, but I was duly impressed with the seamless installation of all components and customer service by the BB installer in Clarence, NY.
