The resolution is great. 720 is where we should be, not 480 like other displays. That said Pioneer doesn't make a 720 camera to go with this unit. I will be buying another manufacturer camera. I didn't replace my 480 unit to put a 720 display with a 480 camera.
That said... firmware update was a nightmare, as at the time the FW was avail with the app, but not avail for download and no documentation on how to update it or what it provides. I spent hours figuring this out on my own only to see Pioneer update the information on their website a few days later. Guess that's part of being early.
The touchscreen display seems a bit laggy compared to others on the market and that is a shame. Hopefully a FW update can fix this? There also seems to be wasted real-estate when customizing the display, especially for the Maestro gauges.
In the menu system, the Maestro Module appears to take place of the 2nd camera input, so I believe you have to choose, one or the other, not both.. You also can't display both gauges from the Maestro and the Radar Detector info at the same time. This appears to be a Maestro RR2 limitation? Or maybe a limitation of the Pioneer working with the Maestro. Either way it's a bummer..
I have an Escort Radar detector hooked up to my Maestro RR2 and Pioneer. There is a setting in the Escort that needs to be changed. this isn't in any easily found documentation, without that change the Escort will error Laser non stop. Also I can't seem to get audio for the Escort notification to come out of my speakers. I am not sure if this an Escort issue, Maestro issue or Pioneer issue. Something needs to be updated/fixed otherwise this is a poor integration.
The USB-C and HDMI ports are not recessed at all in the back of the unit, so that can really lead to some issues. I ended up not using the fragile HDMI cable in my car.
The sound quality is a nice step up from my previous touch screen unit. I have been a fan of Pioneer's Network Mode for over 20 years now.
I hope some FW updates help plolish these units as they have potential to be among the best on the aftermarket. Having the best specs with mediocre user experience isn't what I hope for.

Great stereo you get what you paid for if you go with one of those cheap Android stereos that come from overseas you get no customer support you get shoddy connection issues and with this got name brand got all kinds of support and on top of that you got put in correctly the first time no problems whatsoever. Well well worth it

I waited a little bit longer to do my review because I wanted to make sure the radio is working the way I expected, unfortunately is not, the radio keeps getting disconnected from my phone and it’s not starting automatically as it said in the manual or what the sales person said, first I was getting so many errors while driving wrong directions and I took it back to Best Buy several times, every time was very difficult to make an appointment though, any way they had to move the antenna to another place and now it’s working a little better but still some times gets disconnected from my phone, it’s a nightmare specially when you are driving and the gps gets crazy, I paid a lot of money for it and I don’t think it’s worth it.
I’m very disappointed with the radio.

Great but lag is an issue

Vehicle: Dodge Challenger (2010). Yes, it fits.
As a Apple user, I searched and searched for an aftermarket wireless Apple CarPlay system and this seemed to be the best.
Touchscreen: lag. That’s the only downfall. I updated the firmware for the first time (after connecting to my phone via hotspot and CarAVassist) but it didn’t seem to help. It gets really noticeable when you touch for the next track (Spotify) and you’ll wait for 2-3 seconds for it to play. Hopefully fixing that is a priority for future updates.
Wireless Apple Carplay: works great. Takes a few seconds to connect after the “do not operate when driving” screen hits. Initial setup requires you to plug into the phone via USB. You can have multiple phones connected, and depending on who’s the “default”, it will bring up their operating screen (Apple or android). You can swap users via the NEX software.
If the lag is fixed in updates, if possible, this would get a 5 star rating. Until then it’s a 4.

Great stereo so far, wireless CarPlay is awesome. Installation is pretty easy if you take your time and plan everything out. I wish you could use phone data when plugged in for browsing but you can use your hotspot. Would definitely buy again. Well worth price. Makes any car more modern.

The screen is large and crisp. 720p is a huge upgrade from the 480p of most head units. OS is a bit sluggish. If you've used an OEM head unit inside a new car, this will not come close to competing in terms of the fluidity navigating menus and such. However, it sounds great, performs decent (when up against other aftermarket head units), sounds settings could be easier to get to. Overall a great radio. If you can wait, see how Kenwoods "Halo" style head units compare before dropping a grand on this unit.

I installed this head unit in my Sprinter Van. It's a crisp screen and works really well. I love the wireless CarPlay and large screen. It connects with no issue to my phone 99% of the time. If you are looking for a large screen this is worth every penny.

Installation went great. Very professional and helpful technicians at the RT3 Fredericksburg, VA location. As for this product, love it for my vehicle but the only thing I would change if I had a choice would be for the mounting bracket to be moveable and not stationary. As it is now the radio faces straight and as a driver it’s hard to do/select things on the radio panel while driving since it’s hard to see the front face of the radio. It would be nice if I could slightly pull forward the radio/bracket and turn it towards me as the driver. It would make changing channels, options, music, etc SO MUCH EASIER. Just a thought for the future of all radio systems.

Good when it works! Nice screen, nice customization, but firmware updates always render issues. Normally have to work with it for some time before it will update. Once it does, it's missing icon/apps. Spend too much time trying to get it to work right. Would not buy it again.

Beautiful Unit - Poor Execution

I installed this myself and have used it for over month now and it truly is a nice looking unit. The touchscreen can be a little slow at times. I have updated it to the newest firmware 1.13 and continue to have my music cut in and out on wireless CarPlay. Using a USB drive for music is another option. However, file management and searching for music must be done using their build database function. Once that is done you can sort by genre/playlist or such. What really drives me crazy is it will not remember the genre or playlist, or that you had it on shuffle, and even a repeat of folder disables after shutoff. So you have to reset these features every time. I imagine this is an issue with programming and not the unit itself but it's frustrating when spending this much. Also, don't get me started with connecting with the Pioneer CarAVAssist app.
