I have the matching Pioneer sp-fs52 Tower speakers as well. This center channel sounds perfect with them due to timbre matching. Sounds realistic, clear vocals. Bigger sound than TV's speakers. The ability to tilt it up a few degrees so the tweeters are in-line with ears is useful. I raised up my TV so the center channel is not in the way.

Every review indicated that these speakers and their matching cohorts were a very reasonably priced way to achieve a nice surround/music sound. I am very pleased with the quality, sound, and look of this matching set. I purchased the center, main floor speakers and the bookshelf/surround speakers as a matching set.

GENERAL I have a pair of these in a 360 sq ft theater room. Having spent a lot of money on a projector and screen money was very tight. This series of speakers came on sale at frys which Amazon price matched and I decided to give BB a call to see if they would price match as well. They did. Got them same day with store pick up and I get points. SOUND WOW. I paid around $400 for 2 FS, 2 Pair Bookshelf, 1 Center. I have only 1 Pair of BS set up right now and I was blown away. I have a large room and needed great and BALANCED sound. these easily compete with a set worth twice its value. If you're not a hardcore audiophile and are looking to start somewhere this is it. Look no further. The center is the speaker which draws the most power and is most critical in a home theater set up. YOU NEVER CHEAP OUT ON THE CENTER SPEAKER. Any time you buy speakers you want the center channel to be of best quality in your budget or wait until you can afford a good one. This center speaker is really fantastic, all the audio is crisp and clear. The bass driver really makes males voices which are deep come through. FYI my setup is paired with Klipsch Reference 12 sub and Denon AVR.

I did a lot of research (forums and site reviews) and found that the pioneer speakers were a favorite for a less expensive, quality audio experience. I already had one SP-C22 as my center channel, and decided I wanted 2 more to use as right and left channels based on my entertainment center configuration. My other option was to either buy short bookshelf speakers, or lay a pair of bookshelf speakers on their side. I decided to go with the Pioneer centers for my L & R channels, and haven't looked back since. They sound great, and have a slightly higher sensitivity than the correlating Pioneer bookshelf speakers. I have them sitting end to end, similar to a large soundbar, and they work exactly as I'd planned. Highly recommended. Be sure you note the measurements as these are much larger than a lot of the compact/small speaker systems. However, you won't be disappointed with the sound at this price point.

After 12 years it was time for a speaker upgrade for my front L-C-R channels. My choice for the Center was obviously the Pioneer SP-C-22. I've been a Home Theater enthusiast since the 1980's. 1 thing I've learned, Good Is Good. After reading many reviews & watching youtube videos, I decided to buy the Pioneer C-22 for $99. It's been a few weeks now since I've hooked it up. So, the generic 10-20 hours of break in time has been achieved. As I stated earlier, Good Is Good, regardless of price or Name. Movie watching in our 12x12 foot room is a favorite pass-time. Our 3 speaker upgrade has taken the sound up to commercial quality. The Pioneer C-22 center speaker delivers the goods! And, Good Is Good. We listen at theatrical volume levels and the C-22 never sounds harsh nor lifeless. Our Yamaha 7.1 AV Receiver drives the Pioneer C-22 center speaker with 105 watts, even though it's rated at 90 watts max. My opinion, this speaker can take 150 real watts without a doubt. I ran the Yamaha YPAO mic setup program 1st. Then, I listened & made needed adjustments. Such as speaker distances and EQ. Once my system was Calibrated & dialed in it was movie time! I've mentioned before how well this speaker drives at loud volumes. The Expendables 3 put the Pioneer Center to the test. The louder this center speaker plays, the better it sounds. It's crisp yet warm without any hints of being brittle or harsh. I ran it both Large & Small modes. No issues whatsoever. If your current center speaker isn't cutting the mustard? This Pioneer C-22 for $99 is the one you've been seeking. I've heard really expensive speakers and this Pioneer is as Good as any of them and better than a lot. Performance & sonic realism is what I seek in a any speaker, this Pioneer C-22 does them both. Build quality's solid and heavy! Best center speaker I've ever owned. ~ peace

This is a great speaker for either casual listeners, young or entry level listeners or for a spare or small room. Bought this as a retirement present for a friend who had been running his Dolby digital receiver in stereo since he got it years ago. He was in shock by the difference in made. Even I, a seasoned audiophile, was blown away by the range and clarity and even more surprising was that his wife was impressed. Voices are easily understood requiring far less volume. The only knock on it is that the cabinet is not the most attractive but unless you or your wife are insufferably picky it isn't that bad.

I have never heard a center channel that performed with this frequency range. To my ears the tweeter does not shriek and is very well tuned, and the mids are clear and sharp. Its performance is very well rounded and if it had a different asthetics, would perform well at the rear for a surround system as well. It certainly passed my expectations for this price point, but also lived up to my experience with Andrew Jones ! Room acoustics play a major role in sound quality, so could be apples to oranges, but a friend of mine has some very large (very expensive) speakers made a by some company that rhymes with "blipche", and we both agree that my system it's more clear at obnoxious volume levels than his. There are most likely fancier/better speakers out there, but I'll go out on a limb here and say that, at this price point, these cannot be beat!

I have these connected to an Onkyo receiver (100W/channel) in a 7.1 config with 2x Pioneer SP-FS52, 4x Pioneer SP-BS22, 1x SP-C22, and a nice Polk Audio Subwoofer. These sound great, they provide very clear highs and mids, and good bass (though I would not use these without a subwoofer in a home theater setup). Hope that helps!

I was drawn to this speaker because of CNETs review of the Andrew Jones series. There are two levels of this series, but they were specifically talking about this speaker within the entry level series. They said it was the best surround sound speaker system that they had heard for the price. And that it is beating out speakers that are 2 and 3 times the price. And they did not lie. I purchased 3 of the 5 speakers in this series, the center channel and the 2 front speakers. My main reason I chose these speaker was for the clarity at low and high volumes, also, to replace my existing Onkyo speakers that were bundled with the system. I exclusively listen to everything through my surround system and these speakers did not disappoint. Great price! Great sound! Also, I'm an audio engineer, and even test my mixes through them now!!

I moved a receiver into my bedroom, and was just using it for stereo, but I was having a difficult time hearing dialog. I wasn't going to spend a large amount of money, but didn't want something so cheap that it would end up not being used. I was a little apprehensive at first, because it was on sale for $70, but after demoing it, and listening to the more expensive demo models next to it (that didn't have the clarity) I decided to get it, and am glad that I did. Once I set the receiver crossover at 100Hz, and set it as a small center speaker, (to minimize too much bass) I can't rave enough about it. It sounds so much better than my $400 center channel in my main room, and it will handle the power. The only gripe, and it's a small thing, is the shape of the speaker. It's rounded on the top and bottom, and tapered towards the back, so it's not stable. Good thing it comes with rubber pads so that you can angle it how you need it. Don't expect this to be a Paradigm, B&O or Sunfire, but for the price point, you won't find much else that sounds as good!

Make sure you have the space available for this center channel speaker. It's huge. However it is a big improvement over the small center channel speaker I was using. The voices are much clearer now and also provides better mid range sound too.Once I recalibrated my speaker system with the Denon autocalibration , and the speakers broke in after about 24 hours of use , the speaker sounded excellent.

I needed a new center channel and the Pioneer SP-C22 did the job. I went from an old Bose 101 and the difference is amazing. The dialog is much clearer and louder. I don't need to turn up the entire system to hear what is being said. My only complaint is the odd shape of the speaker. The bottom is not flat and makes sitting on a shelf a bit wobbly. I added some foam pads to make up for though.

This speaker is a great value in its price range. Sound is accurate, smooth, and most of all, dialog and vocals are easy to understand. It is a good match for small to medium sized systems in a small to medium sized room. It also has an attractive appearance.

Got this center channel speaker to finish my surround sound set up. It is a little large, luckily, I am using an old school CRT tv with a rather large tv/stereo cabinet, and I have the speaker on the top of the cabinet, directly centered above the tv. If one has a flat screen tv, you would have to mount the tv high up on the wall or make room for it in the cabinet below the tv.

I got this center channel because it was less than half the price of the Klipsch. While it is a good sounding speaker and did its job fine, I wish I had spent a little bit more and gotten the klipsch. It just sounded better and punchier. All in all a great speaker for the price

Break In Period Is Not a Myth!

I was writing review here earlier & the web site dropped me so forgive me if this is posted twice ok? We've owned this speaker for around 6 months or so and while watching a Film recently we noticed that the speaker now has a sparkle & midrange realism it didn't have when 1st hooked up. As I've posted many times before... Andrew Jones designed Pioneer speaker line is pure magic! As a veteran Recording Artist, my ears are trained to spot imperfections in sound. This same ability is how I noticed the improved sound these few months after hook up. My Klipsch Towers up front in the Left & Right positions sound match the Pioneer CS-22 like they were made for each other. We watch our Films and Concerts at theatrical sound levels and this center speaker not only keeps up with, but matches the Klipsch Towers which are known for PA type performance in the home. The best compliments I can give this speaker are.. 1. When viewing a Concert Film on Blue Ray, you can actually hear the inhale & exhale of the vocalist performing. That's an amazing feat when you consider all the other instruments playing in the Concert mix. 2. When watching an action Film, the sound from this speaker delivers a 3D, in the room quality that's quite impressive. That too, is a feat of magic considering the explosions, gun blasts & other sounds whizzing around in the surround track. 3. This speaker cuts through the loud passages in the movie allowing us to hear dialogue without losing the front stereo effects. That's a great achievement for a $99 center speaker! No matter how expensive your other speakers are in your surround sound system, this Pioneer gem will be the perfect match if you're seeking a center speaker to round out your setup. I gave this updated review because, as the headline says, "Break In Period Is Not a Myth!" If I ever had to build another complete surround setup? I'd buy this Andrew Jones speaker line. My only other choice would be stepping up to the Andrew Jones Pioneer Elite line. If your budget is even bigger? Jones has a speaker line he designed for ELAC called the Debut which are like the Pioneer's on steroids. But the price difference doesn't rectify buying ELAC over the Pioneers. Moreover, the ELAC Debut line speaker boxes don't have the curved design nor do they seem to be as heavy or solid. Go Andrew Jones Pioneer! ~ peace

The entire Pioneer speaker line-up is such an incredible bargain and this center channel speaker is no exception. I had a decent, mid-priced, soundbar before upgrading to the Pioneer system and right away I noticed how much easier it is to understand dialogue with the SP-C22. The difference is night and day. With the Pioneer speakers, I can keep the volume at a more comfortable level and still understand every word. I would often have to ride the remote before, turning up the volume when an actor is speaking, and turning down the volume when the onscreen action gets going. Not anymore. This speaker is very well-designed and sounds like something you would expect to pay much more for. If you have the room for a proper 5.1 setup, skip the soundbar and start with a Pioneer "Andrew Jones" system.
