The VSX-LX505 is packed with a lot of features. I can't really think of anything missing for someone that isn't a high end audiophile. The sound is what I expect, and the power is more than enough for my needs. This is probably my 5th Pioneer Elite receiver in 25 years, and I've always been happy with them. I've tried Denon and Yamaha, but keep coming back to Pioneer Elite. The only reason I keep changing receivers is for features, and I like to upgrade when the old one is still valuable on the secondary market.

This is product is the worst system I have owned. I recently purchased this one because my last pioneer system failed. My mistake in thinking this wound not so the same. It shuts off and reboots randomly since day one. I’ve taken it in to Best Buy they sent it out for repairs and they claim nothing is wrong with the system. I want my money back or money towards upgrading to a better system.

Zone 2/B function doesn't work as specified.

The Zone 2/B doesn't work as described in the manual. HDMI audio set to PCM will not output into Zone 2. So you can only use an analog input (if you have one!). Zone B doesn't output audio regardless of the input or audio signal. Pioneer eliminated their Speaker A/B function on newer receivers. Speaker A/B outputs audio to Speaker B without exception. This is a big disappointment. I have bought Pioneer receivers for over 10 years as the multiroom function was critical to my experience. I hope they fix these bugs. I found nowhere on Pioneer's website to get support, the one link I found was broken.

Great receiver from a long lasting company pioneer. But the sound was a bit lacking, no punch. Also they removed once of my favorite feature for listening to movies at night. They replaced with a different option but makes no difference. The constant going back and forth adjusting your setting just to listen to moves depending on the day is a hassel.

Finally available. I checked I think everyday for this receiver to become available. At one point I could buy it directly from Pioneer, but who wants to do that? I upgraded for my Pioneer Elite that was only a few years old so that I could run my Xbox Series X through the Elite. Make sure you set that HDMI to 8k in order for the Series X to display 4K @ 120hz. This is a nice unit. It seems to run a bit cooler than my prior SC-LX701.

I’m impressed with the performance, features, and value of the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505. DIRAC Live Room Correction and MCACC Auto Room Tuning are easy to set-up and use. Movies and music have a very realistic sound. Highly recommend.

Receiver is great. I had an old Pioneer Elite receiver and this is definitely an upgrade from the old model. Bluetooth and network capabilities make it a perfect home theater receiver.

I too got this instead of the Onkyo TX-RZ50. I took it back and cancelled my Onkyo pre-order. The features on paper seem great. I bout a UMIK-1 microphone and boom for the Dirac calibration and did the full 17 position tuning tuning. The sound had good timing but was way too bright. I played with Dirac curves for hours trying to improve that and never found a sound anywhere close to my old Denon x4100. The Pioneer sound was harsh on the ears and just didn’t fill the room well at all. The sound was flat rather than three dimensional. I watched movies with this and them swapped back to my Denon, and the winner was clear. I hate it because this receiver has so many features. And I thought it was a major upgrade at over 60% higher cost than my Denon. By the way I tried both the amplified connections and tried the preouts with an external amplifier, no major change in the issues I’m talking about. I was so excited to snag one of these but ultimately super disappointed. I have a couple Pioneer Elite receivers I love and am not sure what happened. The sound on this one is clean but cold and kind of shrill.

This receiver does a great job! It has multiple ways to set up room correction, can power a good amount of speakers, and makes my home theater sound better. EARC works well for getting Atmos from the TV's apps to the speakers. I am happy with this purchase.
