I've always liked the performance and sound quality of Pioneer receivers. My last one was the SC-99. A few months ago, I switched to this LX-805, and it's very powerful with excellent sound and a competitive price for a receiver in this category that includes Dirac Live. My only complaint is the control app interface, as the previous one was much more intuitive and user-friendly, but once you get used to it, it's worth it, considering the performance of the LX-805.

I purchased this receiver for upgrading my TV to 4K so I had to have a receiver which is 4K compatible. I always have had Yamaha’s. However, I was recommended to buy this one in the beginning i had problem with the Wi-Fi connecting and disconnecting, however after a few months of owning it, I learned that Pioneer does not make great AirPlay or network connectivity receivers. However, recently I purchased an extra eero router and connected it by ethernet cable to the receiver. That’s the only way you can have an uninterrupted connection to network and AirPlay otherwise, you have to reset the receiver almost every 24 hours. Overall, this is an awesome receiver. The best I ever had.

I'm super satisfied with my amp paired with my Klipsch. Sounds like I'm in the IMAX theaters and when listening to music. Sounds like you're in a studio. Great amp

This receiver has all the power and sound modes you could ever want, plus you can download software updates as new modes become available, and you can even use it as a preamp/audio video controller if the power output is insufficient for your needs. You could spend more but you don't need to as it is perfect for your home theater. I’m still at the learning stage regarding the capabilities of the Pioneer Pioneer Elite - VSX-LX805 11.4 Channel AV Receiver.

For the price to performance ratio ,5 stars I dont know of another unit for even $1000 more than comes close to the performance of this unit. Dirac license at no charge. DL bass control option. An amp/power supply that beats the $3500 Denon X6800..Has a little wonkiness in the wifi for some people depending on your Wi-Fi signal at home

I ordered this online from Best Buy at a steep (50%) discount on Black Friday, 2024. It was a significant upgrade over my previous Sony STR-DN1040. I didn't think I would be able to pull off a full 7.2.4 setup, but I made it work with a little creativity, some floor-standing speaker stands and a half-dozen ball & socket wall/ceiling speaker mounts. That's a total of 13 (budget friendly) speakers! The difference in immersion upgrading from a 5.1 system is incredible. Upgrading from a 65" to a 100" 4K display also helped in that regard. I purchased a UMIK-1 calibration microphone so I could do a full DIRAC calibration using my laptop, though you can perform a limited calibration from the unit itself using the included microphone puck. The Pioneer Remote Android app allows me to easily adjust speaker levels and EQ if I feel so inclined. I spent the first few weeks tweaking settings, but now that it's dialed in, I find that I am content with the current configuration. I typically steam content from my Roku Ultra, which is great, because the Roku remote also controls both the power and volume for the AVR (and the TV) which is very convenient. I rarely find myself needing to use the Pioneer Remote, and if I do, I'll generally just use the app. On average, this receiver has been in use for several hours nearly every day for the past six months with zero issues. I doubt I could have justified buying this unit at full price, but I do feel that I got a great bargain. I don't think I could bring myself to go back to 5.1 if something happened to it, which is why I purchased the four-year Geek Squad protection plan.

This receiver is currently on sale and offers excellent value. It includes all the latest inputs and outputs, supports modern codecs, and delivers adequate power for an AVR.

I purchased the LX805 to replace a Marantz Cinema 50 due to it's balanced outputs for use with an external amp. This receiver handidly outperforms the Marantz, especially at the sale price point. Quite a bit more power, and you can always tell what surround sound mode it is in. This is my second Pioneer Elite receiver, and I will be sticking with the brand in the future.

The Pioneer Elite VSX-LX805 replaced an aging Onkyo in our home theater. I was initially skeptical if I would notice much of a difference. After initial setup I could hardly believe what I was hearing. Sound was immersive and nuanced. I felt I was hearing things I had never heard before from movies we had seen many times. It is indeed very heavy and a little deeper than my previous unit. I found the overall setup very straightforward and without issue. At full retail it was out of my budget but for under $1,500 I am super pleased with this receiver.

This unit is Amazing. After a few hours of messing with the setting my 7.4.4 system sounds amazing. A noticable upgrade from my Sony ES1000. The app that you can use "pioneer remote" has changed how I control my entire system and I cannot imagine going back to a normal remote. You can increase or decrease each individual speakers volumes from their factory settings by 12 db through the settings which helps make sure you can hear all 11 channels that this unit supports. It has been said by youtube reviewers that the voice may not come through clear at times. I found that it has been due to the center speaker volume being too high and you can also use the DTS IMAX voice control to spread vocals out little by little to the main speakers to make it perfect. Yes, its alot of money. But if you have already invested in good speakers, it worth every penny. Also this thing is packaged insanely well but it is HEAVY!! You might want a partner to help get it in the house.

I now have very mixed feelings about this receiver. It's now 7 month old and the amplifier section is malfunctioning. The unit keeps shutting down and going into AMP DIAGNOSTIC mode. All efforts to troubleshoot were fruitless, including a factory reset. I have really enjoyed the receiver and overall love the feature set as well as the audio quality. But I can't recommend this receiver when it dies after 7 months of light use. And the service process is painful. It cost me $100 to ship this beast for service and who knows how long it will take to get it back. The only way you could get service at Best Buy is if you purchase their very expensive extended warranty.

Been grown up With pioneer products from childhood, it always had a love in my heart. When I saw the amazing deal right on time when I’m setting up my HT, I just grabbed it. Pioneer still has it in them. Though there is other brand names like anthem, marantz, denon., pioneer is on its own a spl and I love it. Sound quality is clear and it’s one of the best choice in terms of value for money. You will not be disappointed.

So far I can’t complain. This receiver is massive and has ton of features. You can use mcacc or dirac for calibration and has IMax Enhanced and Auro 3D.

Man this thing does it all. Plenty of raw power to meet most any home theater need with the latest software for dialing it all in. Find one on sale and don’t look back.

Highly recommend this receiver . This thing drives my Klipsch speakers that are highly efficient to there limit. After completing setup using the app it truly becomes alive with atmos surround. All channels output is on a different level. Very high output soundstage is so impressive I can’t even believe how much better my entire system sounds now.

As a replacement of an older version, it was much easier to set up and works as expected.
