Since my car does not have a dash cam, I thought that this would be a new layer of safety to show what really happened in the case of an accident Looking at the brands, many I did not recognize, but I am sure (maybe) that they make a decent product. From their days as upgraded car audio, to teh best in the industry plasma TVs, their brand is not only nostalgic, but relevant Unboxing was simple and installation just as easy It has a simple glue to affix the the windshield and a lighter cord for power. That's it, you are done. Download the app while you are at it and play with teh settings It has a g-force monitor that timestamps accidents should you need it It comes with a SD card that is upgradable to twice the memory. I would do this since it is very inexpensive The picture is 1.5k which is plenty for such a small image Night vision is clear and 120 degree field of vision Lastly, it has a parking mode (in the phone app) that gives you a sense of security when you leave your car in a lot Overall this camera does everything that I wanted at a price point that was affordable. I would recommend this with 5 stars to friends and family

    Ultimate Stealth Dash Camera

The Pioneer VREC compact dash camera is perfect for the person who wants peace of mind without a massive camera on their windshield. You may sacrifice a wider field of view and ultra high-end video quality, but its stealth properties far outweigh those benefits for me - especially at this price point. PROs: 1) Size - The Pioneer VREC compact camera is crazy small. It's about the size of a AirPods case - maybe with a bit more bulk. My point is that it's tiny. I place a high value on dash cameras that you can't see because I think they are something thieves are willing to go out of their way to steal. 2) Video Quality - At 1.5k (1296x1080) resolution, the video quality is crisp and more than enough to catch license plates that are about a car's length ahead of you. Low-light performance is also impressive and I didn't have any complaints when reviewing the footage. 3) SD Card Included! - Pioneer included a 64GB micro SD card in the box. This is more than needed but I am thankful they tossed it in - even at this price point. If you do want to expand the storage, you have the option to install up to a 128GB SD card. 4) App - The app is easy to navigate and review footage over the built-in WIFI. Connecting and streaming the footage can be sluggish at times but I can forgive the VREC at this price point. The app allows you to view everything from your recent trips to captured events. CONs: 1) 3M Mount - I'm not a fan of dash cameras that use 3M sticky mounts instead of suction cups. If you ever want to move it to another car or another part of the windshield, you will have to rip it off. I'm not sure where you can get replacement 3M pads so your milage may vary. 2) Battery - There is no internal battery. When your car is off, your camera is off. If you want to use the parking mode, you have to purchase a RD-WK300 Hardwire Kit which is sold separately. If you are looking for a discrete dash camera with excellent video quality - the Pioneer VREC has you covered.

I have used only one other camera in my auto, and I will not say the name, but it has not gone well. The card is constantly say it's in error, simply because it fills up, bad engineering to do it that way. I also find that it fails to connect when trying to connect to my phone, in case I need any footage. I hope I never have to use it in an accident as I trust it about as far as I could throw it and that ain't far. However, it does have a beautiful small LCD screen. This product is sort of the inverse of what I own, and so I think it's a very nice compliment, and a better overall value, so far, but I can't escape the fact that it has no screen, so I guess maybe it's something I can get used to. This was so easy to setup, got my windshield cleaned, used the 3M mount, connected quickly, unlike my other camera in my other car, and was very sharp, clean video, which was something that you view through your phone. It's just weird to me but I guess maybe it's a better way so as not to avoid you looking at the road. Well I can't help it though, still think I want a screen. I've decided I like this because I trust it more. So I'm going to run both, then if anyone ever hits my beat up old Saturn, I'll be protected. And isn't that the main thing you buy these for? A solid 4 out of 5, set it and forget it, no screen docks it a star. Release a premium version next year at $149 and add a tiny screen and we are golden. Great job Pioneer, another winner.

Usually when you get a small package, you don’t expect much. I didn’t either, until now. There’s a cliché that bigger is better, but not with this dash cam. From its super discreet size to the fact that it doesn’t rely on a screen, it does exactly what it needs to do without being intrusive. It does have a speaker, but it’s weak. It’s mainly there for voice prompts to let you know it’s recording, and they’re barely noticeable. I honestly could care less, since I don’t need audio feedback from a dash cam anyway. Once you connect it to your phone through the Pioneer AI app, it becomes a powerhouse. That’s where you can tweak settings like the sensitivity of emergency recordings and dial everything in the way you want. The app is where this camera really shines. For how small and simple it is, the video quality is solid and it just works. It doesn’t try to do too much, and I appreciate that. If you want a dash cam that stays out of the way, records when it’s supposed to, and doesn’t feel cheap, this one delivers. One of the reasons I actually like how small this camera is comes from personal experience. I’ve been in an accident before, not with this camera, but with a much cheaper one that had lower quality. Even with that camera, I was able to win the allegation that I caused the accident. The couple involved was caught on camera lying about what happened, and they tried to gaslight me the entire time. When they were shown the footage, their reaction was priceless. Everything they claimed completely fell apart once the video played. That experience is why I believe in having a dash cam, especially one that stays out of the way and just records without drawing attention. Believe me, you want this camera. Be honest, stay humble, and keep your morals in check, because you never know who’s recording.

    COMPACT SIZE!

The Pioneer VREC-120SC has got to be the smallest dashcam I've ever seen or used yet it packs so many features into its compact size. Measuring less than 2 inches square, it records up to 120 degree field-of-vision and works in virtually any temperature - negative 4 to 140F. It comes with a 64GB Micro SD card (expandable to 128GB) to record what's going on and everything can be viewed from the Pioneer AI-Sense phone app. It mounts easily to your windshield with the supplied 3M tape and is so small you hardly notice it! Since it doesn't have a built-in monitor, there are fewer distractions while driving, and it's super light-weight. Power is supplied via the included USB-C to USB-A cord which can be plugged directly into your car, or they've even provided an accessory plug (cigarette lighter plug) adapter. After installation, the functions are controlled by the red power button on the side of the unit so make sure you mount it where you have access to the button. Hold the button for 15 seconds to power on and 3 seconds for off. Click it to turn on/off the wifi, and double-click it to turn on/off the audio. It records events in up to 1.5K resolution and the enhanced low-light support aids in after-dark visibility. It offers G-sensor technology which detects impact and automatically records/stores the footage. They also offer a parking mode via an optional hardware kit, which could be beneficial. The camera has built-in wifi which can be used to connect to your phone to view or download videos without having to remove the SD card. This can also be used to change the camera settings, resolution, etc. Live events are recorded in one-minute segments and automatically rewrite when the SD card becomes full. With 64GB it should last several hours before a rewrite occurs. Videos can only be downloaded one at a time which is a minor irritation but not the end of the world. I was skeptical when I first saw the size of this unit but I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised. It works great and is definitely budget-friendly!

A Very Nice Compact Dash Camera

When the Pioneer VREC-H120SC Dash Camera in black arrived, I was very excited to open it up and begin playing with it. As I have had a few cams previously, I was interested in seeing what Pioneer came up with that would make it a good one to have. The Pioneer VREC-H120SC cam boxed with an Owners Manual, the compact dash camera, a long USB-C power cord, a Class 10 64GB micro SD card, a two-sided mounting pad to install the camera on a windshield and a cigaretter lighter adapter into which the power cord can be inserted should your vehicle not already have a USB-C input built into the dash. The Pioneer Dash Camera is quite small/compact/unobtrusive and easy to install and set up using a smarphone. After installing the Pioneer Dash Camera and the micro SD card and power cord, it is time to download Pioneer's ai-sense smartphone application and install it connecting the phone to the Pioneer dash camera network. Additional settings as you desire can now be set up using the application. Once installed and set up, you will be able to connect to the dash camera, turn on or off the sound recording capability, set up on or off parking mode which detects vibration and movement when on, Once I had the smartphone application installed, I found it quite easy to connect to my smartphone and once connected as able to view through the dash camera and set up all its features. The Pioneer ai sense software application was one of the easiest I have ever used - it just works! The Pioneer VREC-H120SC Dash Camera is a keeper in my book!

The Pioneer compact dash camera with 1.5K resolution and 120° wide angle view is a great dash camera that is easy to install, easy to set up, and a has discreet profile on your dashboard. Out of the box, the unit is tiny, measuring only about one inch tall and less than two inches wide. The installation is pretty straightforward, with the unit using a stick mount to adhere to the chosen surface. The cable management is probably the most time consuming part if you really want to hide the USB to USB-C power cable. The device is managed through Pioneer’s app. Once installed, unless you do not hide the power cable, the unit is barely noticeable at all. The cool part is the camera’s 120° wide angle view that allows you to see the whole span of the front of the vehicle. The WDR provides for crisp playback in all weather and lighting conditions. The unit comes with an expandable and removable 63GB microSD card. It also features automatic event recording, which saves notable events. Overall, this dash camera is an excellent resource that provides high-resolution playback from a sleek and compact little camera.
