    Excellent quality sound a microphone

This is a bulky but well built set of headphones with an integrated microphone. I was looking for something with good sound for gaming with a microphone for voice communications. It needed to be good quality, a USB device and have good sound, and these headphones deliver. Easy to reach controls, though the volume control is very sensitive and brushing it tends to adjust the volume. The microphone is only usable from the left side. The ear pieces are very well padded, though after extended use my ears and around my ears tend to get a bit warm due to the materials used in construction. I think this is likely one of the best values available on the market in a gaming headset, and mine came with a Steam code for Orcs Must Die 2.

Best Gaming Headset I've Ever Used.

    Posted .

Powerful bass that won't muffle the highs. Mids and highs are very crisp and clear. Surround sound works very nicely, perfect directional pin-pointing in FPS games. The build quality is very good, nothing seems to be flimsy or looks like it would break. The padding is soft and thick. The cups will envelope your entire ear and does not cause discomfort. I wore these for 6 hours doing various things on the internet and didn't need to take them off. The only thing I don't like about this headset (which doesn't apply to everyone), is that it gives serious headphone hair. I personally have semi-long hair for a male and it gives me the infamous headphone bump more than any other headset I've tried. I'll be comparing this to the Razer Carcharias, because they are both gaming headsets, are within the same price range, and I've personally used both. Although the Carcharias has better microphone specs, I prefer that microphone on the 780 just because it sounds much more clear and the Carcharias' microphones are known to be hard to troubleshoot. I also enjoy the sound much more on the 780 because of the 7.1 virtual surround sound.

    Best headphones for the money.

    Posted .

I have owned several headsets. Everything from Logitech to Gamecom 777's. All my previous headsets had one major flaw..they broke. I play online games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Batllefield 3. Sound is important because it tells me where the enemy is and how far away. Previous headsets always broke because they were made of plastic and that plastic eventually cracked if you were not super careful. I purchased the Gamecom 780 to replace my broken Gamecom 777. The difference is night and day. Honestly I shouted "Wow" when I tried them out playing Battlefield 3. My wife started laughing, because I was so surprised by the performance. Overhead aircraft sounded so real. I could hear them approach, roar overhead, and fade into the distance. Explosions have a bass boom that literally made me jump! Footsteps crunching as I walked sounded so realistic. The squeaky metal gears of my tanks tracks sound like the real thing. The concussions of my weapon firing and of my brass hitting the ground after firing my weapon were so realistic and amazing, I was absolutely dumfounded that I had played games for so long without this type of sound clarity and realism. The difference between what I had been using for headsets and the Gamecom 780 was stunning. I called my son downstairs (he also plays BF3 using a Logitech brand). After taking the 780's for a test drive, he was blown away. He started saying "did you hear how the helicopters sound? What about the sniper rifle..did you hear THAT?" I am so surprised by this product! The sound is above and beyond my expectations. The only con's on the product are the availability and the fit. I ordered them online from Bestbuy.com. I was disappointed to find that this product is not available in store. I was further disappointed to learn that a "pick up in store" or "ship to store" option was not available. That being said, I was able to have them shipped to my door in about 3 business days for no extra charge (standard shipping). The price of the Gamecom 780 is very reasonable, I would have paid more. The sound quality is phenomenal. The comfort is good, a little tight..or maybe I should say a little too snug for my comfort. However, I should note that my 777's were being held together with duct tape, so maybe I have become accustomed to a loose feel over the last few months. The 780's do not feel uncomfortable, just a little snug. The durability is hard to judge right now, since I have only had them a few hours. However, I can already see that the construction is more hardy than the 777's. The area that my 777's have always broken at (I have owned three) is at the spot where the plastic headband connects to the earmuff area. The 780's have metal frames at this location, so I doubt they will break easily. In any case, I purchased the 2 yr warranty upgrade from Bestbuy. I plan on telling everyone I game with about the amazing improvement that the 7.1 sound adds to my game experience. I really like the Gamecom 780 and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a durable headset with amazing sound performance at a great value. My recommendation to you, loyal review reader, is to order this product and experience the amazing sound performance. Then write a review of your own...we need to spread the word about the Gamecom 780!

The head set is a very good price for the quality . There is just enough adjustable to make them fit my head . But a couple of 10 hour torses of BF3 have tought me that the square head cup dig into my head a little but after 10 hours you will need them off for a break . The sound is easy to set up kind of one button thing . Not real adjustable sound . I will post another review in a couple of months .

The Greatest Headset for the Price

    Posted .

I was shopping at Best Buy and came across these headphones which I have seen online, and was surprised when they were only $60, as opposed to $80 like they usually are, so I went ahead and bought them. I have been looking for a USB headset that would work on Mac and Windows, has great sound quality, a microphone and is comfortable, and I think I have found it. They were very easy to set up, and come with software for Windows that will enable 7.1 Surround Sound. I play Battlefield 3 with them and it sounds like I am there, and I do not mean to exaggerate, it actually sounds that good. This is a USB headset, and works fine on Mac, except for the 7.1 Surround Sound feature. They are very comfortable, have great padding, and do not hurt your head, other than the fact that they squeeze your jaw area slightly, but I think it will go away after a while. Another cool feature is that the volume switch on the headset (not on the wire) controls the volume of your system, not just the volume of the headphones. I highly recommend this headset to anyone.

fits tight over your ears. 7.1 surround is great for gaming, has a fairly long USB cable. bought this because it was cheaper than a logitech and i'm glad i did. its a great headset that seems well built. the software is easy to install and 1 touch of a button enables 7.1 surround. the bass isnt the greatest ever, but dont get me wrong. its still really good. i highly recommend this headset.

    Better than the Razer Megalodons

    Posted .

I'm a semi-professional gamer in Counter-Strike: Source, currently in CEVO-Main and I have nothing but good things to say about this headset. Footsteps in CS:S are spot on with the Dolby 7.1 enabled. Gunshots, grenades, etc. are also easily pinpointed to their exact location with this headset. Way better than the Razer Megalodons in my opinion. The microphone on this headset is also by far the best I've heard. Crystal clear!

    Great Budget Headset

Basically a good headset for a good price. Only downside (which is likely a personal thing) is that after a long time headset can make my ears hurt from the pressure against my ears. Everything else is great, though the connection where the USB wire goes into the headset looks a bit weak time will tell.

I have Windows 7. I don't believe these are compatible with it. I installed the drivers from the CD and had sound issues. Uninstalled them and let Windows install drivers and no issues after that. Great head set. Sound is wonderful. Mic is good. I've had them for about a month now. So no real use for durability, but they seem very good.

GO BIG OR GO HOME, I contemplated spending over $300 for a set of headphones, but wanted the best. I was sick in my stomach for a few days after paying the bill, but overall the headphones are super comfortable and 10x's more durable than the Turtle Beach Headphones.

I got this headset about a month ago. It was incredibly cheap for a 7.1 surround sound. Very easy to setup and its also comfortable to use for several hours of gameplay. I can talk to people and my mic is very clear and not distorted. It's easy to flip up to mute as well. No real complaints so far. I don't abuse it but I also don't take the greatest care of it and it seems pretty durable. Plantronics is a quality name as well.

Great gaming headset for the price

    Posted .

I would definitely suggest this headset to any gamer who is really into gaming. I used this at a gaming event and the noise cancellation was great(It was at a REALLY loud venue) The surround sound is also really good for music. I don't really like to use it for games, but when im just chilling at my PC i turn the surround sound on and blast music. If you want a top notch gaming headset that's not too expensive, or even just a headset for something other than gaming this is a great headset.

    Good gaming headset

    Posted .

For the first couple days, this headset seemed a little tight, but they seemed to loosen up a little bit and are very comfortable now. They are very well constructed with metal reinforcement through the headband, which is good for me because I have accidently stepped on a few headsets and broke them in the past. These won't break very easily. Mids and Highs are very nice. The bass is the only thing that bothers me a little. This headset is capable of reproducing some very punchy clear bass, but it lacks that ground shaking feeling even though it is capable of reproducing frequencies down to 20hz. The microphone is exceptionally clear for online gaming. I am very impressed. Much better than other headsets I have heard and tried. Overall I am very pleased with this headset and I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality gaming sound for a good price.

    Pretty good

    Posted .

After reading a lot of reviews from here and Amazon I was expecting more, but I'm satisfied. Pro: The construction seems very sturdy which is a huge plus. $80 isn't a huge hit for 7.1. They match my computer hardware set up color wise. Microphone is very good. Easy / Uncluttered set up. Sound quality is good. You can hear pretty much every sound. Take awhile to used to all the new highs and medium pitch sounds you will now have. At first thought it was kind of tinny sounding , but after playing for awhile I figured out it all the new sounds that you pick up. Con: #1 I was expecting a lot more bass. The bass is just OK. #2 The software is very limited as far as settings. There is no way to adjust sound range at all. There are 2 setting buttons and that is it. 1 button to enable of disable Dolby. One button to change from Game/Movie over to Music. #3 The separation is noticeable, but not as good as I was hoping. I run a 5.1 Dolby digital home theater set up when gaming with out headphones, so I'm spoiled as far as that goes. Conclusion : Not as good as I was hoping for , but for a headset I am very satisfied with my purchase. I recommend these. If Plantronic's reads these reviews , Please work on updating your software with more features.

    Amazing Sound, Well Built.

Well, I've had a turtle beach x11 for the last 3 years and finally the tape that was holding them together on both sides finally gave out, so I was off to find a new headset. First off, I tried the Tritton series, which I didn't entirely like. They didn't give me the option between movies and games and music and what not to choose the sound quality and base levels. Also, the one I had chose was only compatible with Xbox, which I didn't entirely know. I took them back, and finally found this product online. After seeing a ton of awesome reviews on it, I decided to give it a try. I've had them for only a couple hours, but I can't seem to get away from them, since they are so amazing. The sound quality is unbelievable. Dolby 7.1 has reached more than my expectations. Also, the awesome software that has been included gives you an easy switch between Gaming/Movies/Music sound modes and what not. The feel so comfortable, but for someone that wears glasses, they might be pushed to your head and you'll have to adjust to what feels fine. I've already found that I don't even realize anything but my glasses, so maybe it was just a fluke with myself. Well, overall, I would definitely recommend this product, and I was recommend getting it from best buy as well. They have more than excellent customer service, and their staff has always been extremely nice and knowledgeable within the areas the question belongs to. 10/10

Top notch sound for a great price!

    Posted .

I am a gamer. I did a lot of research before buying and these are an absolute steal! This headset easily competes with (are arguably equal to or better than) headsets 3x it's value! You just can't beat'em. These are not noise cancelling muffs, so if you require no noise whatsoever except what is coming through your muff speakers, these are not for you. I personally have the need (kids and more) to hear outside of the headset when necessary - these allow me to do just that without compromising the awesome sound. I gave this set a 4/5 star rating for comfort due to the fact that I am fairly certain one can't go on a 12 hours gaming binge without have to break every 3-4 hours in order to prevent ear discomfort. So,if your a 3-4 hour a day gamer with the occasional 8+ hour gaming binge, they are perfectly comfortable. If you game binge daily though, and you have unlimited $$$, you would probably want to buy a higher price headset for over-the-top longer hours of comfort.

Quality 7.1 sound made easy and affordable

    Posted .

I've had these for over a month now, and I can honestly say that I love them. They are very comfortable; in fact, I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. The 7.1 sound is really well done, too. It's a nice extra touch for games like Diablo 3 and Skyrim. The setup was very easy. I will say that at first I thought they were defective, but it turns out that I had them plugged into a bad USB 3.0 port. I changed ports (regular USB 2.0 is just fine) and haven't had any trouble since.
