Customers are saying
Customers are enthusiastic about the RIG 500 PRO Wired Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset's amazing sound quality and comfortable fit. Many appreciate the convenient flip-to-mute microphone and the immersive Dolby Atmos experience. While some users wish for a longer cable, the overall positive feedback highlights the headset's lightweight design and effective volume control. The headset's bass response, however, has received mixed reviews.

Comfy but poor quality
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredibly comfortable. Fits all sizes(I have a large head, and tend to break headsets across the top.) The bleed through from the speakers to the mic is excessive. Wire wore out and separated in less than a year.

Comfort, Good Sound, Short Cord
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Testing it out with my son, he said it is very clear from the other side. His one word description. Quality. From my side, they are very comfortable. I have a huge melon, so for it to be comfortable for me says a bit about how large they can stretch. The headset feels like strapping two pillows to your melon. The sound is Atmos and quite full and rich. Good overall sound and depth. The headsets come apart at almost every conceivable spot. The ear cups disconnect. The head band disconnects, but only reconnects one way. The top band seems like it can take some abuse. They feel really sturdy. Now for the gripes. The cord is a bit on the short side. I'd like to see at least a 6 foot cord, not everyone will use these with a laptop or have their PC right next to them. Second gripe. The mic is on the left. It would be great to easily swap sides. No you can't just turn them around and wear them backwards. The boom swings down to one side only. Overall, if you are not picky about mic side, unless I am missing something and it can be reversed, I would recommend these to anyone. I do not see anything in the packaging to show the sides can be reversed. The cord can be replaced, so I will not doc much on that.

Didn't really enjoy this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset had 2 problems when I would use it for everyday gaming. 1. There is a static when you talk into the mic. When you are talking to your friends they could hear the statics. 2. The mic got stuck after flipping and unfolding the mic to mute and unmute.

Posted .Hello David and thank you for your review on our RIG 500 PRO headset, however, we are sorry to hear about your experience. If you are experiencing some issues with the microphone, you may want to make sure it is inserted properly into your headset. You may also want to make sure the headset is set up properly under your gaming console audio settings. Last but not least, we recommend testing the headset with a different mobile to completely isolate the issue. If the microphone of the headset got stuck, please try unplugging it and plugging it back in. If for some reason you still encounter the same issue, then it means it has an actual problem and it is best to replace it. Remember this unit counts with a limited warranty since the first day of purchase, and if you need a replacement you can click on the following link for further instructions: https://bit.ly/2N637EC. Our intention is to provide the highest quality products to our customers and we thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Great sound, microphone won't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried repeatedly to get this headphone mic to work, unfortunately its just dead. The sound quality on the headset is fantastic though. It would have been a 5 star review if I could have gotten the mic to work

Posted .Thank you for your honest review on our RIG 500 PRO headset. We're sorry to hear that the microphone isn't working. Please make sure that the microphone is inserted all the way into the 3.5 mm plug. You might also want to verify that you have a single 3.5 mm headset jack on your computer, other wise it won't work correctly. Lastly, you could also test with a different PC setup to isolate the cause of the issue. In case you get the same results, please note this unit has a one-year warranty from date of purchase. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care Team at: https://www.plantronics.com/us/en/support/contact

Amazingly Comfortable, Good Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was immediately impressed with the build quality and comfort of these headphones. Clamping force is just right and the headband is the kind that has a sling attached to take pressure off the top of your head. Sounds quality is excellent for gaming and movies. These are tuned to have a warmer sound that highlights action gaming and movie sound (explosions, the roar of engines, etc.) but lacks just a little high end. It should be noted that I haven't fully burned these in yet, so the highs may improve over time. I love that the mic turns off when you flip up the mic boom. I've worked in broadcasting most of my life and am used to this from production headsets. It's good to know when the mic is up it's definitely off. My only complaint is the lack of a Y adapter in the box. My gaming laptop has separate jacks for the Mic and Headphones, and the included cable only works with single-pole Mic/Headphone jacks. I had to order an adapter. It should be noted that I successfully tested these with my Android Phone and Nintendo Switch, too.

It works good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price its at its an ok headset. Would’ve given it four stars, but the only problem I had was that it becomes uncomfortable around the ears after three or four hours. This is after a month of use. The first week or so it felt ok.

Fully capable headset embracing Dolby Atmos
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was given a unit in exchange for an unbiased review. I have always known of Plantronics being a commercial headset maker and, at least in my professional experience, they have certainly been the go-to maker in that arena. On top of that, with the introduction of the RIG 500 PRO PC gaming headset, they've really stepped up their game. The headset frame that holds the earmuff speakers and flexible top head strap is made of metal -- so, from the get go, it's a solid piece of equipment. I like the fact that there are three notches for each speaker to adjust based on what's up with your head :) The fit is more than comfortable; in my view, the comfort level is at the same level as headphones that cost significantly more. The fact that the malleable mic and the 3.5mm headphone cords are detachable is a plus. Dolby has decided on a licensing strategy to get its Atmos three-dimensional soundscape out to vendors, and Plantronics is no exception. While there is a scratch-off card included with the headset that contains a license code to be input into either a PC, PS4 or X-Box One (stating that it's only for one license activation), when I activated mine via the PC and Windows Store, their verbiage spoke to allowing five PCs and an X-Box console with my singular activation code. Either way, a word about Dolby Atmos. If you're an entertainment junkie and you have the eyes to see the difference between HD versus 4K and HDR (especially HDR), then if you have ears to hear the differences in sound frequencies, then you'll definitely appreciate what Atmos does for sound. While adding dimensionality (e.g.: over head, to the side/front/rear, etc.) to sound is a great achievement, I believe that the tightness/crispness of the sound at all frequency levels is the real value-add here, and Plantronics helps in that sound reproduction. The sound field is simply cleaner with Atmos than even with 5.1/7.1 sound fields. In all respects -- earphones, microphone, materials and technology -- the Plantronics RIG 500 PRO PC gaming headset is a must-have.

More on console.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn't include a usb adaptor. This is more on console and not for pc. I have to return it. It doesn't work properly, if the mic works the speaker don't and vice versa.

Posted .Hello and thank you for your honest review on our RIG 500 PRO. However, we are sorry to hear about your experience. This headset is basically compatible with any device that supports a single 3.5 mm connector. As you may know, computers nowadays count with a single 3.5 mm jack instead of two (for speaker and microphone). This headset will only work properly on a single 3.5 mm jack computer. You may want to try using an adapter from single 3.5 mm to dual 3.5 mm. Our intention is to provide the highest quality products to our customers and we thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Average headset for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disclaimer - I received this headset in exchange for my fair and honest opinion. I decided to give the Plantronics RIG500 Pro a go, and while I'm happy with this headset, I'm not completely blown away by it. Audio quality is middling, the design is definitely function over form, audio quality is where I'd expect Plantronics to be but you can get better headphones in this price range. They're pretty comfortable overall, and do a good job of killing background noise while you wear them. Microphone audio quality is good through this headset, and should the mic fail, it is replaceable (a module you plug into the headset). Fitment is decent enough. Comfort is pretty good, considering there's an elastic band that runs across the top of your head and gives you space between the metal band and your hair. The audio cable is nice and long, and turning your mic on and off just by flipping it up and down is a nice touch. Keep in mind that $15 of the price of these headphones is for Dolby Atmos for Headphones, which can be enabled on multiple Windows 10 machines (and I believe multiple XBox One consoles with the same code, as it was universal for both XBox Live store and the Microsoft Store). Atmos for headphones does a believable job of playing 5.1.2 through these headphones and others that I own, both through the headset jack and over Bluetooth. Movies and games both come alive with this tech. The biggest drawback for me is that the included audio cable uses a single cable for audio and mic. None of my desktop systems (Hackintosh, gaming rig, and workstation) have a compatible jack for this. It does work with iOS and Android devices as a fully-functioning headset, however, so you can also use this to take private calls on your device. All in all, the RIG500 Pro isn't a bad gaming headset. The included code for Dolby Atmos for headphones makes the purchase price more palatable. The biggest thing I can recommend to Plantronics is to also include a headset cable with separate audio and mic connectors, as not every gaming PC supports a single connector for audio and mic.

Headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall great sound. Microphone has terrible pickup. It is at a normal level when all sensitivities are set to max and the boost is turned on. Microphone operation is also Very sensitive to mic arm positioning, if it’s in the wrong spot it just doesn’t work. If you get this product I recommend getting black tie protection because of you contact the manufacturer you have to pay for return shipping and they don’t cover anything to do with the wire only the headset.

Posted .Hello and thank you for your honest review! We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Rig 500 PRO, the microphone should be working correctly regardless of its position, as long as it's close to your mouth. Lets try removing the microphone and cleaning the connections, if the issue continues, the microphone will need to be replaced. In which case, please don't hesitate to contact Plantronics Customer Care at 855-765-7878 so we can send out a spare mic!
