While this is not a feature built-in to the headset itself you can read and send messages or emails if your phone's voice assistant has such a feature; to use it from the headset you will need to press and hold the voice/mute button for 2 seconds then let it go after the beep. You can speak the command you'd like to perform afterwards. Plantronics

I been using Plantronics for years and I definitely the best product on the market for earpiece I give4 star rating only because is no for outdoors like water and dust proof , I mean light rain it won't hurt but I'm semi truck owner operator and I spent lot of time in shipping yards and doesn't read (speak)text messages otherwise is5 star product. I did tried the new military grade Jabra for like two days ,that is water, dust and shock proof but sound is good average comfort wearing is horible

This Bluetooth connects easily and sounds great. I don't like the way that you have to wait for it to connect before you can start using text to talk. Other than that it's a great Bluetooth!

The sound from it's fair to pretty good, and certainly good enough for conversations. I have three problems with it: 1) When turning on, the message about battery life interrupts calls so that you lose some of your conversation - very annoying 2) the earpiece is very thick and hard to make it work comfortably with sunglasses or glasses 3) The ear tip doesn't quite fit. Not sure how to suggest a fix here - maybe a little softer tip? Once you get it in place it's ok, but it doesn't seem to go into place very well. the other tips included with the headset don't look like they help resolve this

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on our Voyager 5220 Headset. We're sorry to hear you were not able to find a comfortable fit even after trying all of the included ear tip sizes. Using the foam cover might also help to adjust the fit. These headsets are designed to fit the vast majority of ear shapes and sizes; however, we do know that one size may not fit all. We thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will forward this to our Product Development team as we appreciate feedback based on customer use to create the best possible products. Feel free to contact our Customer Care Team at: https://www.plantronics.com/us/en/support/contact if you have any questions! plantronics

I got this to use while at work. I am a diesel mechanic and it frees up my hands while working. it works well and has good range. my only complaints are it turns the volume down all the time so I can't hear texts or other things sometimes. and every now and then it just disconnects from the bluetooth. not sure if its my phone or the headset itself though.

I regret this purchase, almost from day one. I'm using a Google Pixel 2XL. First, I lost my old Voyager Legend, which was basic, but it worked reliably. This new model has a 10-15' range, it's terrible. AND when I use the "microphone" icon on my phone to dictate a text message in the Messaging App, the headset doesn't activate to pick up my voice. Meaning, I can't talk to text in my Messaging App! I was really excited about the idea of using Google Assistant with this, and will pick up Hey Google sometimes, but only if I'm within earshot of my phone. It's worthless! I have to carry my phone around with me all the time, which is not a part of the convenience of Bluetooth, as I understand it. This thing is literally a waste of money. HARD PASS.

Hello! Thank you for your review on our Voyager 5200 headset, however, we are sorry to hear about your experience with the headset. This headset counts with a range of up to 98 ft/30 m. Please note that the functionality of the headset will vary depending on the compatibility of the web-based apps with Bluetooth headsets. If you are having issues with the microphone on regular phone calls, you may want to try resetting the Bluetooth connection with your mobile to see if there is any improvement. To do so: 1) Unpair the headset from your mobile phone by accessing your Bluetooth settings. 2) Power off your mobile phone for 2 minutes and turn it back on. 3) Re-pair the headset by pressing and holding down the call control button until you see the LED flashing red and blue. 4) Access to your Bluetooth settings and select "PLT_V5200". Once successfully paired, you will hear "pairing successful". You may also want to check if your headset doesn't have any kind of updates available through Plantronics Hub:https://www.plantronics.com/us/en/support/downloads-apps/hub-desktop. Last but not least, we reccommend testing the headset with a different mobile to completely isolate the issue. If for some reason you still encounter the same issue, then it means the headset has an actual problem and it is best to replace it. Remember this unit counts with a limited warranty since the first day of purchase, and if you need a replacement you can simply click on the following link for further instructions: https://bit.ly/2N637EC. Our intention is to provide the highest quality products to our customers and we thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care Team at 800-985-9815 if you require assistance. plantronics

    best Bluetooth I've had

As a truck driver things get rather noisy. And just looking at your phone will get you a ticket. I've tried 4 others over the years and finally decided to try one more. This 5220 linked up to my android easily. Calls and texts no longer require picking up the phone. Battery life is good. Although the range is not what they state. I get about 35 feet towards the back of the truck. And 50 to 60 towards the front. I guess a window allows the signal to pass through easier then the steel body. I recommend this product for commercial drivers

I lost my voyager pro and replaced it with this one. The primary reason was the increased range. That feature is the best feature of the device. It is a little more comfortable and stays in my ear better than the Voyager Pro did. I haven't had difficult with people understanding me on the phone, but haven't used the headset much outside. The only complaint I have is accessing the voice controls. To activate the voice control, you push the mute button instead of the call answer button. This isn't a big deal, but it takes a few seconds to go through its process and activate Siri on the iPhone (approximately 3-4 seconds), when I'm trying to text using the tool, I find that this time lapse can be cumbersome because other texts will come in while I'm trying to activate and initiate mine. The other complaint regarding the voice controls is that is a different button to initiate the call than it is to end the call. I find that I'm always hitting the wrong button to end the call. At least, it mutes me when I press the voice control button so that if I say something before I successfully hang up, it can't be heard.
