When it comes time to replace a bluetooth headset I spend some time researching what I'll buy next and when I washed my 3rd Plantronics voyager legend it was time to get a new headset. Now mind you my last 4 headsets have all been the Plantronics voyager legend as they've been the top of the game for multiple years. the audio is crystal clear, the mic was a great pickup, I could drive in a convertible with the top down and the boss would think I was sitting in my office, no joke. So if something was going to beat the legend it had to be pretty awesome. The 5200 has 4 mics (vs the legend's 3) for better audio catching and filtering, the speaker is clear and crisp, and I like the button design over the toggle for volume personally. The biggest change I'm excited about is if you hold down the button on the boom for about a second and a half you can have the headset connect to the google now agent on your phone (I didn't test S-voice or siri). This is the feature which made the most sense to me, though I wasn't going to sacrifice the operation of the other features just to get this. My only complaint is, there's yet another proprietary new connection for charging the headset BUT for some reason plantronics also included a microUSB you can charge the headset from which is a very nice addition. My wish list would be a more water resistant/water proof version of this, I'd gladly pay more for it, but maybe I should learn to check my pockets before doing the laundry. Overall I loved my Plantronics Voyager legend and didn't think I'd ever find anything better but the 5200 is my new favorite and I'd imagine it will be for many years to come.

    Best Bluetooth headset available

Wow! I have owned many Bluetooth headset over the years: Bose, Jabra, Jawbone, and Plantronics, along with other lesser known brands. The Plantronics Voyager 5220 is the best hands down. I always test out a new headset the same way...pair it with my cellphone, then hit the road...head down the highway at 70+ mph, use voice dialing to see if it can recognize commands properly and call my office line. This takes me into voicemail and I leave myself a message with the vehicle radio going at normal volume. Then, my voicemail gets sent as an mp3 to my phone. This way, once I've stopped the vehicle, I can listen to what it sounds like on the other end of a call. With the 5220, the voicemail was perfect...no road noise...no background radio...nothing but my voice coming through crystal clear. With 4 microphones, the 5220 detects which direction sounds are coming from and successfully eliminates sound other than your voice. Having owned the original Plantronics 570, as well as the Voyager Pro, the Voyager Legend, the Voyage Edge, I can say with certainty that this is the best BT handset I've ever used. The noise suppression is better than on any Jawbone or other Plantronics headset. Pros: great battery life; well placed up and down volume buttons, great voice command support. mini-usb charging (a big plus over the proprietary charging port on the Legend); comfortable wearing all day long, etc. Cons: large size may not be great for everybody; over ear design is great in upright position, but if you're a mechanic working under a vehicle, this won't stay on...I did have another "wing-type ear gel which I managed to fit over the smallest stock ear gel and that fixed that problem for me though. Recommendation: If you're looking for the best BT headset and are willing to pay the premium price, This is the headset and you won't be disappointed.

I've had countless BT headsets since the devices were first launched years ago. From the various Motorola to the famous Jawbone and a myriad of no name junk. But this by far is the vest one I have used. If you don't mind the boom, which I actually prefer, since it provides better voice pick up and reduces unwanted noise and wind interference due to Plantronics clever design. I even use this device while riding a bike! The different ear pieces provide comfortable and non invasive ear contact so the rich HD sound can fill your ear and not the device. The curved wrap around design lightly grips the ear with confidence, but does [pose a problem for those who wear glasses. The boom rotates up and swivels to allow for use in either ear and to tuck away while not in use. And unlike some [revious models that are very similar on design, the 5200 series has a universal micro ISB port for charging, along with the connectors for charging on the expensive optional charging case/cradle; great for on the desk for easy access or tucked inside the case to protect while traveling. Firware update provide the allure of potential new features, but as of yet nothing but integration with Plantronics Manager Pro software. Included mute/digital assistant button provide voice feedback really makes this feel; like a next gen BT headset despite the only slightly modernized design. Its sleek and curvy enough to wear without feeling like a total; tool.

I've been using the Plantronics Voyager Legends for a number of years and until now they were the most comfortable and had the best voice quality of any other blue tooth earpiece at any price. This new unit the 5200 version has better sound quality, especially in windy conditions, that was the single weakness of the previous Voyager Legend product. Even better, the Blue Tooth version has been upgraded from 3.0 to 4.1 and the range is even better than before. They also added a micro-usb port, in addition to that magnetic charging connection. I never really liked that the magnetic connection was too easy to dis-connect. This ear-piece has been improved in almost every way! Again, Plantronics has set the bar for the best sounding Blue Tooth cell phone earpiece and interestingly, "Best Buy" was the 1st to get this in stock. In fact, amazon still doesn't have this newest model on their website!

I was a little hesitant in purchasing this BB Exclusive Voyager 5220 only because of the price point. When there are cheaper alternatives inches away on the shelves it can be difficult to opt for one of the more expensive choices. Then I read the reviews, put trust in the reviews, and ultimately bought it. I'm very happy I did as the sound clarity is excellent (even with the windows down). Fit is extremely comfortable with the stock ear bud (you have two additional in the box). Battery life is good so far and recharging is fast. I do have one small negative. This unit can be charged via the micro USB [included] cable. The problem is the access cap that must be opened on the Voyager is a pain to open. So difficult that I didn't want to go through that process again so I ordered the Plantronics Voyager 5200 charging case/charging stand for $32.00 [even though it states "5200" in the title, it works with the "5220" wonderfully). If this charging application/unit was included that would have made things outstanding. The micro USB charging option is still there if I don't have the stand/case or need an emergency charge somewhere. I'm happy as is and would recommend the Voyager 5220.

Bought the 5220 at Best Buy about a month ago. I have had many plantrontics in ear bluetooth communicators, the last 2 being the Plantronics Voyager Legend. The Legends were great on my end, but depending on where I was in my house or out and about, friends would tell me that I was cutting out. It was not constant but enough that they had trouble hearing me, so after the second one, I went to Best Buy and bought the Voyager 5220 after reading the specs differences. Now this problem had been on an iPhone 6s Plus and 2 different Androids, so to me that ruled out any phone problems with the 2 original Voyager Legends. The 5220 is incredible. It has yet to cut out or be unstable in any way whatsoever. When I switch from the phone to the 5220, callers tell me that whatever I did sounds loader and clearer. Maybe it is the bluetooth 4 vs. the 3 on the original? It was more than worth the money! USB C would have been nice. It comes with a USB micro cable and a cigarette lighter plug in charger for the car. No power brick for in the house, but I have so many of those and cables, no problem, but it would have been nice. It comes with 3 sizes of ear tips but no felt covers like the original. I have leftovers, but again, would have been nice. All in all, this is definitely the best Voyager that Plantronics has ever made. A little pricey, but again, worth every penny plus a few for stability, clarity and comfort!

I have previous version, Voyager Legend UC, which I really like and use on a daily basis for both an iPhone 6 & VoIP. This version is about the same with the original Voyager Legend, except for the following: * Separate volume buttons (+/-) instead of a slider/toggle * Micro USB port as well as Plantronic's proprietary port * NFC * Opaque ear gels instead of clear (don't see any more earwax) The red accents adds to the aesthetics. The swivel action is a bit stiffer than the original Voyager Legend. Everything else seem to be great as the original if not better. I wouldn't get it if you already have the original Voyager Legend. I only got this because it was a bundle deal with a car charger and a free travel case charger for about $100 (plus tax) on Memorial Day weekend. Otherwise, the original version can be had for half the price ($60) online. P.S. This version will not work with the original Voyager Legend's proprietary charging ports, e.g. Charger case or desktop charger etc.

i have on a lot of bluthoot devices like jaw bone samsung and so on let me tell you thats it is one of the best that i have ever used so far it has giving me no problem with it it's charge is really fast it last a long time after you charge it it takes about an hour and after it charge you can use it for about several hours none stop and when it's not in use it's a long stand by too now the range for this one is not as long as the jaw bone but it's sound quality is just as good as the jaw bone or better it also is better when it comes to sweat it don't stop working like jawbone if you sweat with the jawbone on and go out in the cold the moister on the jawbone will freeze up in the little holes on the ear peace in stop it from working but not the plantronics it can stand more cold than the jawbone and it last longer than the jawbone i went though so many jawbones before i bought this one and i have no issues with it like i did with the jawbone the only differences is the jawbone has a little longer range thats it this is better that the jawbone and if you change phones you won't need to buy a new one it will work with your new phone . but it is not the same when i had jawbone when ever i got a new phone i had to get a new jawbone so bottom line you will love this one over almost any other

I needed something to keep my hands free while doing rideshare. I have tried other bluetooth headsets and got feedback, static or just plain didn't work. Finally I found one that works. My wife had no idea that I was walking outside on a windy day. There was no wind coming through on the other end and there was no static or feedback. I like earbuds in my ear and thought I would see if there were any addons for the headset. See picture. There is an in ear adapter mount that you can change to from the ones that come with it. It works great. Plantronics also has a recharging case for the headset. It protects and charges at the same time. I love everything about it.

I have bought many headsets over the years, the last one was a trucker headset cost more than this one and sound was nowhere near as good or comfortable. Tha Plantronics - Voyager 5220 noise cancelling comes with 3 sizes of ear pieces.. I found the largest to be the best for all day comfort forget its even on my ear at times. I do field service for banking industry equipment, stays on your ear when leaning over into equipment ( very important to me ) and noisy backgrounds call quality is still excellent .. over all you cant go wrong with this headset .. oh and one more thing battery charge is good for 7 hrs talk time .. and its comes with a mini usb cable w/car outlet power adapter and will charge fully from 2 hrs talk to 7 hrs in minutes. again .. best there is and with the extended warranty for 15 bucks if your out and it stops working run by best buy and swap it out .. no fuss no muss warranty

    Best noise cancelation

I strictly use this for noise cancelation. The call quality is great, the distance you can be from your phone is great, and the comfort in my ear is great. Those are all subjectively rated as high as any other headset, especially in this price range. But most of all I use this when I'm around loud equipment. The limitation is if it is so loud that someone next to you couldn't make out what you're saying very well, but next to jawbone and the bose headset series 2, this one takes the cake. Your voice will become a little robotic sounding when foreign noise is really loud, but you can still be made out. Wind is also negated at speeds around 20 mph and under. Above and your results may vary. I've not had trouble in large gusts, and sometimes I have, but thats ok. I don't know what else they can do to remove it short of putting a cat tail on the boom. Overall I would say this is the best headset you can buy if you plan on being in even a mildly noisy environment.

After a lot of research I purchased the Plantronics Voyager 5220 Bluetooth Headset and I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I often have long drives where I need to make and receive calls and, previously, I had received complaints from people who could tell I was taking the call from my car as I was using a much cheaper, inferior, bluetooth speaker. Once I started using the Plantronics Voyager 5220 Bluetooth Headset, I asked my friends if they could tell where I was and they could not distinguish between when I was at the office or in my car or on the go. This headset has a long battery life and can connect to two phones which is perfect for me. I have it connected to my personal phone and my work phone via bluetooth and that way I can receive calls from either source while on a long drive. I also really like how it announces who is calling and allows me to verbally indicate whether I want to answer or decline the call. I do not have to push a button and can keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel.

I admit I do not have much comparative knowledge about Bluetooth headsets (and frankly, I thought I would NEVER purchase one -- as I felt, and still do, that folks who wear them around all day often look pretentious), but I do occasionally get calls while on long drives or long walks, so I decided to get one that promised top-quality voice transmission -- as I hate getting calls from folks where its obvious from the echoing sound that the caller is using a Bluetooth device. This product delivers terrifically accurate voice quality. When I first started using it, I would ask those on the other end if the sound was clear (recall my sensitivity to getting calls where it isn't, and its obvious the caller is using a Bluetooth device), and to a person all said they were not even aware I was using a headset device -- even when I was on a walk with fairly significant wind about. The battery life also seems to be excellent. I am very happy with the product.

Best Earpiece I've Owned So Far!

Over the years, I've owned many different Bluetooth earpieces for use with my cell phone. My previous 3 or 4 have been BlueAnt units, because they were the best in the biz, IMHO. I bought them because their volume could go louder than most, and they were compatible with ComplyFoam foam ear inserts. Unfortunately, BlueAnt decided to get out of the earpiece biz, so there were no more firmware updates to keep up with new phones. Also, ComplyFoam changed their insert design and the new design would fall out of my ear. Therefore, I decided it was time for a new earpiece. I did my usual research and this model got excellent reviews. It's a little pricy compares to others, but I gave it a try anyway. I am very pleased I did. Calls are super clear on both ends and the wind noise cancelling works great. Volume is also very good (not quite as loud as the BlueAnt). It took me a little while to get used to different button locations voice commands, but it's been a great purchase decision so far! I highly recommend it!

Well first off I bought the legend model a week ago. Was pleased with purchase. Sales ad came out this week and the 5220 only at best buy comes with the $40 charging case for free!! So I returned the legend, spent the lil extra money for the 5220 bundle and soooooo glad I did! It fits more comfortably on my ears than the other. I believe that the voice prompts sounds A LOT better as in more human than robot. What I really really liked the most was that right out of the box, set up and pairing was a breeze, but the what amazed me was soon as I paired with my phone, downloaded the plantronics hub app, it synced to my bluetooth and then prompted me that I needed to update the firmware on device. It allowed me to update OTA from the app wirelessly to my bluetooth unlike the legend where I had to use a PC to perform the update!! So convenient that I was set up and ready to go in about 3 min before actually leaving the best buy parking lot! Oh and the charging case, its a great design as well! Plus I got it free with the purchase of the 5220 headset!!!

As well as the quality of sound as well as noise reductiom, durability & battery life. It also charges quickly. It is exceptionally easy to use I have recommended this product to numerous people And now many of my friends and family members also swear by this product too. It is an excellent product to purchase especially if you add the BESTBUY warranty protection on top of the manufacturer warranty...its a win win purchase everytime

I needed a headset that was good at noise cancellation since I work on a towboat and the engine roar can be heard at all times no matter where I'm at. I had a Jawbone Icon with the noise assassin but my wife could still hear the roar, I used it for 6 years before it quit, I then bought an el cheapo that had good reviews but my wife said the roar was too loud so I ditched it after a month.. My Captain had the Voyager 5200 and he recommended it so I decided to bite the bullet and get the 5220. My wife now says that she doesn't hear anything but me talking unless I'm outside and the wind is blowing 10 mph or above. The Captain ended up washing his so I gave him mine that I only had for a month and he said the quality was definitely better than the 5200 that he had, I now have another one. I wish it had come with a case. It's pretty comfortable to wear, the talk time is 7 hours, shows the battery life on my Galaxy S4 and it has some pretty cool features that can be used with the Plantronics app. I will purchase again unless this one fails quickly.

This is an awesome bluetooth headset. I tried many other headsets, and this is the only one I've found that my Mom can understand me over it. I wasn't sure if it was worth the extra money over the Voyager Legend, but they have made a few improvements. They added a micro-USB charging port so you don't have to use the proprietary dongle. The menu system that talks to you has a different voice that I like better. The volume controls are moved to the top and they made them two separate buttons instead of an up and down slider. I'm much less likely to accidentally switch this one off by mistake when reaching for the volume control. Sound quality is good. I sometimes use it to listen to music or youtube videos when I'm without regular headphones. There's an option to have the mute button only beep instead of saying "Mute On" and "Mute Off". If it hears you try to talk when mute is on, it reminds you with a voice prompt.

I have tried many, many wireless headsets over the years, and could never find one that could do it all...until I got my first Voyager 5200. Crystal clear audio and mic, coupled with amazing battery life and noise cancelling, this durable and comfortable (compared to my previous Voyager models) little headset has become the only headset that’s I use. It gets even better: you can grab the charging case for ease of transit, extra battery life, and convenient charging. Still gets better: you can grab the USB dongle for Universal Compatibility so that this headset can be used with Lync/Skype, and a long list of other PC communication software. The headset is so good, that I ended up purchasing 3 more 5220s (BestBuy’s model, essentially the same as 5200) plus charging cases. TL;DR: if you need a headset for your mobile, this is the perfect solution. It even works for your computer (needs UC USB BT dongle).
