When you're investing in to great glass you not only want to protect that investment but also have a UV filter which will only help with image quality and you won't get those sun bursts.

It is definitely worth the money -- we took pictures in Yellowstone. It protects from mists-rain drops etc.

My investment in a Nikkor f/5.6 200mm - 500mm ED VR zoom lens needed a protective filter to prevent any damage to the front element. As the saying goes, "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." At this price, it's a no-brainer.

These work great and protect your lens. I always get one for my lens and never had a problem.

Didn't like that it scratched easily when cleaning it (so it appears as a small scratch or two). The pictures are clear though and also glad that the filter protects the main lens from being scratched. Although the main function is to "filter" it does just that. I know I'd be upset if I would have scratched the main lens.

I bought this filter hoping it would do absolutely nothing but protect the main element in my Nikon 200-500mm lens. It succeeds! No flares, aberrations or color effects on the image. At 1/3 the cost, it is a good alternative to a pricey Nikon 95mm filter.
