Upon opening packaging was impressed with fit and finish of components. Not so much with instructions. A little common sense and You Tube to the rescue.
In minutes assembled and a Nikon 1J2 is mounted. Now the tedious part, fine tuning and developing your technique.
Its simple constructions and set up belies the time needed to properly set up, understand and perform the technique necessary to get the most performance out it and your video camera.
After experimenting using my cell phone, Nikon 1J2 and Sony HDR-CX110 my sense of it is the lighter the device the more challenging the set up.
For my purposes I have discovered that the stabilizer and its foam packing material, slightly modified to fit device after being set up for particular device, fit into a spare neoprene sleeve meant for a laptop with a 16" screen. An inexpensive way to transport and store your stabilizer.
It works, seems well made and finished for a reasonable price. Certainly not the least expensive stabilizer out there but close enough for me. And if it needed returning the local BBY store is 15 minutes away.

Easy to assemble, it's not adjustable side to side, if your gear is heavier on one side it won't work, it couldn't handle my Nikon even though I was somehow able to balance it, I think it would work on a small point and shoot or like a GoPro.

I used this stabilizer with my Nikon D3200. It worked ok. The setup/calibration time is generally long with these types of stabilizer, and this one is no different. But it is slightly better than using the camera without it. I would say the improvement is not really worth it. I would spend a little more and go with something better.

This is a nicely built and affordable stabilizer rig. However, I could never get my Canon 5D MKIII and 24-105 lens to balance. It may be that this rig was not built for this kind of camera - despite the picture on the box - but it simply did not work for my purposes. It may indeed be fine for a smaller camera setup.

This stabilizer actually works pretty well on lighter DSLR's. If you can master balancing the counterweights in a timely fashion, then this piece of gear will come in handy everytime. I've seen a lot of DIY's and imitations, but for this price you really can't go wrong!

This stabilizer works pretty well for the price point. It's a good interim tool until I can afford something better. Something better, however, gets a lot more expensive in a hurry. So, if you have a lightweight DSLR and you want cheap access to smoother footage, this is a good bet.

I bought this to use with my Canon Rebel T6i. Initial impressions were good, the stabilizer comes in nice packaging and fit and finish are impressive. It holds the camera securely and the included counterbalances are sufficient to stabilize my camera with a shotgun mic attached. My biggest complaint is that the ball bearing that connects the handle to the actual stabilizer feels very gritty which kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. Its so gritty that I find myself focusing on the feel of the stabilizer instead of the shot which is incredibly distracting.

Far cry from the Stedicam Merlin but it is also a far dollar from it. The instructions weren't very helpful but was able to get it working halfway decent on a very lightweight camera. SLR's in most cases will be too heavy for this to work properly.

With a little patience you can get this balanced and then it works fine as long as you don’t want to point you camera up or down.

It’s a little tricky to set up but once you set it up it does a good job for the price. I’d recommend if you’re a new filmmaker trying to have professional looking footage.

Takes forever to set up. Balancing this thing is a pain and results dot worth the effort. Get a 3-axis gimbal instead.

It was okay. It is a little difficult to use and get accustomed to. The swivel on it is really lose. Buy something a little better.

I purchased this stabilizer as an open box item and tried it with a small digital camera and my smart phone. It was ineffective with both and I returned it. The store and website indicate that there are many available as open box, it seems like a lot of people have had the same problem with the product---it does not keep the camera steady.
