The Insignia is easy to use card reader to transfer files from your memory card to your computer. I was able to use this on several different memory cards without any problems. It is also convenient to have one device to read several different cards.

I film a lot of 1080p video for my travels and I needed to be able to transfer the files from the cards to a storage device more quickly, as the built-in USB 2.0 on the camcorder wasn't cutting it. Even when using my MacBook Air as a conduit to send data from a card to a portable HDD, transfer rates are better than what I started with. I was expecting more than 20 MB/s for transfer rate, and sometimes it would dip to half or less. I'm not sure if the type of microSD card has an impact, as I was testing the top two speeds (UHS 1 and UHS 3). It's still a decent product though.

I've had card readers corrupt memory cards in the past and this was a big worry for me. I read other reviews about this before buying and I'm happy to report that this card reader has been great. It's really fast as a USB 3.0 device. I only marked it as 4 stars because it doesn't do a great job of showing me how to insert the memory cards. It feels like I'm placing the CF card upside down all the time. Otherwise it's great but the designers could have put a graphic or something to better illustrate how I should be inserting different media.

I needed to pick up a CF reader, since Best Buy was clise and they had one in stock why not? Well, after seeing customer returns on hanging rack, thought this not good and at full retail? My first one was new, one unopened, and like all other Insignia products of dubious quality, built for price and not long term. Needless to to say it was defective, an hour of walking bsck to store got a replacement. So far working but of dubious long term quality. Think of it asa one to four time use product with CF cards.

    Yes, it's USB 3.0

The packaging on this product is strange. It's also oddly described on the website. I wasn't sure if it was USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 but I had no choice, I needed a card reader, even if it was the slower USB 2.0 I bought it, took it home, plugged it in and (this one's strange) I read the little manual that came with it. The answer is yes, it's a USB 3.0 card reader. There's lights on it that indicate if it's running at USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 speeds. So yeah, it's pricey for a store-brand but it's worth it for the speed and ability to read about any medium out there.

    Good solution for saving pictures

We have a digital camera with a square memory chip, and with older CPUs we could just insert the chip into a slot that was always there to download our pictures onto the computer. With the newer CPUs, there is no slot/port that fits the camera chip. This memory card reader was a good solution to the problem of not being able to access our pictures and save them in a large enough format to see (i.e. seeing them on a computer screen).

My old digital camera could transfer pictures with a usb cable to my windows XP computer. When I tried to use the combination on my newer windows 7 computer, the combination failed. There are no new drivers available for this camera (canon model). The card reader allowed me to continue using my camera with my newer computer. I just have something extra to carry now. But, I can use the card reader with my other cameras.

I looked around for a while to find a decent (and fairly priced) multi card reader. This one certainly fits the bill. Good looking in an unobtrusive way, and so far transfer seems to be pretty quick. My only complaint (and why I hesitated to give it a "5") was that the slot I use the most (SD) is on the back of the unit, as well as the micro-SD. Inconvenient, but not a deal breaker.

I bought this thing because I needed to scan some pictures in from my camera to my computer. The great thing is, it also came with a free Shutterfly Book which I used right away to print some of those pictures. On a sidenote, the Best Buy in my area has increased the professionalism, knowledge and helpfulness of it staff quite a bit over the last year or so. Which is why I've been shopping there again.

My older card reader broke so I needed another one that could read compact flash. This is a very capable and easy to use reader. The card does stick out more than my last one but it doesn't move once it's firmly placed in the slot.

Purchased a new gaming PC and it has no DVD drive or memory card slots. Seen this on Best Buy's website and decided to give it a try. I chose this one because it is USB 3.0 not 2.0 like most multi-card readers. File transfer is noticable faster then my old PC's 2.0 built in reader. Works flawlessly with Windows 10. I plug it in when needed and toss it in a drawer when not. Well build case, not cheap plastic.

Great product for transferring media from one location to another. It was a gift from my kids and husband because I had so many memory cards with pictures and just kept getting more cards instead of getting them put on a disc. This made things so much easier to get those off and I was able to use it to get pics of my phone too!

I purchased the reader to replace an older card reader. With the latest USB 3 downloading a full 64g card takes very little time. I purchase this as a backup. So I now have 2 of these card readers. If you hate slow card download times with your new computers and an old card reader. This is the card reader for you

This card reader feels solid, which is more than I can say about others I've purchased. Three prior card readers each lasted about a year. Hopefully this one will hold up since I need it for the CF card and these seem to be fading away. It's fast enough, has solid construction, and works for now.

Insignia has always been a quality brand. When I needed a reader for my newly acquired Compact Flash (CF) card, I naturally turned to the Insignia - USB 3.0 Multiformat Memory Card Reader to get the job done. The cards are easy to load and the reader connects to my desktop computer quickly. Data transfer is accomplished quickly and without problem. Great product!

I was actually looking for a replacement cord for my digital camera but when unable to find one of those I happened upon the memory card reader. I was glad I found it. It was quick and once I figured it out (I am old) it went smoothly. Can't wait to load up my memory card again.

Does exactly what it's advertised to do. My old SD cards were laying around and they gave me the push to get a way to see the pics on them. Worked for all the formats I have and perfect to quickly transfer from my Canon 7D because it had the option to erase them automatically to my MacBook.

I just used my new Insignia™ - USB 3.0 Multiformat Memory Card Reader - Black. It is nicely designed and versatile taking all of my cards. I like the design - the shape is simple and easy to hold snd store. I use the wire tie to wrap and store the wire. It would be neat if there was some sort of wire connector to the Insignia so they don't get separated. - jim
