This adapter is a necessary addition for tablet or all in one computers. The adapter can also be used with android tablets and streaming devices with a USB port or an adapter. As for quality it solidly made and looks great. With most computers this adapter is plug and play. I tested the speed and it was as fast as my other computers with built in 1 GB Ethernet. The USB 3.0 interface will not slow down any data either.

Platinum™ brand is definitely on my good side today. Don't get me wrong, they've never been on my bad side. I received two products today, and both are simply awesome. The USB 3 to GIGA-Ethernet adapter does exactly what it says on the box. Just like their other product I just reviewed, this thing is elegant, sturdy, and built to last with its aluminum housing. It certainly does not look (or act!) like my old "Cheapo" plastic device. How simple is this to use? Plug it in to your device's USB 3.0 port, and plug an Ethernet cable into the other end. And bam, your once WiFi only device is now surfing on the super fast internet. I have tried this also on a desktop for S's and G's - same. Runs perfect. What I am going to try to do eventually is see if I can connect two laptops (or desktops) together with this to transfer large files via ethernet. I don't see why it inherently wouldn't work. I'll update this review if/when I do that little test! Otherwise, please do yourself a favor and stay away from the cheapo USB devices ---- stick with Platinum™ !!!!!!!!

In the age of wireless everything, a USB to Ethernet adapter has almost no use. But there are times that you need one. For example, in offices that prefer wired connections for security purposes or simply in hotels that still haven’t upgraded yet to WiFi an Ethernet would be a godsend. But unfortunately, your best options would be cheaply made adapters. Here comes the Platinum USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter. Unlike other adapters this one speaks of premium quality. It comes in an elegant box (Well the box isn’t really important. And the adapter itself is enclosed in silver metal with a white cable perfectly matching your Apple computer but still functional for PCs as well. As expected, it works as advertised though I’ve noticed in my initial tries it’s a bit slower compared to a computer with a built-in Ethernet port. But that is expected for all adapters. Nonetheless it is still functional and comes in handy when you need it. Not much more can be said but if you want a premium adapter, this is it.

This USB to ethernet dongle delivers all you could hope for. It is simple to plug in and was immediately recognized by my MacBook without any additional drivers or setup. The connection speed is great and the link lights let you know it has connectivity. The cable is rugged and compact.

The cure for bad hotel WIFI

I've been living in hotels for months while my home is being repaired. Most of the hotels claim to have fast WIFI but really don't. Even the premium WIFI routers reserved for "top level guests" have variable speed and reliability. My travel laptop is an ultra lightweight convertible that has 2 USB C ports, 1 standard USB port and a HDMI. My laptop has no RJ45 network connection. The hotel I am currently in has WIFI that cuts in and out constantly. When the WIFI works the speed fluctuates constantly (10-28 MBPS). With this USB to RJ45 adapter I get a steady 80-95 MBPS download speed. I showed my wife the difference it made and now we are both wanting to use it every night. I guess I need another one.

I've used these adapters before, and until this model came out, there weren't many gigabyte options out there; this one does the job, and is built nicely, comes in an attractive package, and if you need to bring gig speeds to a device without an ethernet port, this is the device to do it! Wish it came with another cable, to allow you to connect it to a Fire TV device, but, aside from that, its just what you are looking for, to get gig speeds to devices with a USB port, but no ethernet!

This Platinum Ethernet adapter looks good and works great. The nice aluminum finish will match any MacBook or aluminum laptop. Couldn’t ask for more.

Would give this zero stars if possible. This thing is complete and utter garbage, it only works with certain devices, and is not Nintendo Switch supported. I'm very displeased with having paid $30 for this pile of scrap
