Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the PlayStation 4's impressive graphics, enjoyable controller, and ease of use. Many also praise its performance and find it to be a good value for the price. However, some customers point out the lack of backwards compatibility with previous PlayStation consoles and disappointingly short battery life of the controller. The absence of a bundled camera was also noted as a drawback by some users.

For any casual gamer, enthusiast, or even hardcore gamers, this system is a great all around product. Easily replaced the 500gb HDD for a 1TB HDD. The dualshock 4 controller is also much better than the ds3 (although the rubber in the center of the thumbsticks tend to wear off after a good amount or use) and has a 3.5mm headphone jack that you can plug into which is very handy, and the console itself is quite lighter than the PS3 slim and is roughly around the same size albeit much lower in profile and less bulky. My only gripe is that the console itself doesn't support dual band wifi nor does it support 802.11ac so you're stuck with 802.11n @2.4ghz. If you're a decent ways away from the router I would recommend hard wiring via ethernet. Performance wise the console operates smoothly although there is the occasional slow down when operating the main screen UI but not enough to be a problem. The Sony licensed Power A charging station is also a great pickup and good way to charge and store the controllers. All in all a wonderful piece of hardware which you can find on sale regularly or bundled through various retailers.

The PS4 has a new slick design. Awesome that it comes with 500gb drive...most games nowadays take up a lot of room. The clarity is amazing on an HD TV. You can now password protect your login user. One of the first things you do at setup is to connect to your wifi...so any time you log in the user it automatically connects to your wifi. A 2nd user will have to log in during gameplay and both players can simultaneously earn trophies. Overall, an amazing upgrade from PS3.

In the beginning I was pretty sure this was nothing special and I could have probably waited another year or so to get the console, but after playing it and using it for a while now I have changed my mind. The games run so much smoother than on the PS3. I think that has to do with them being downloaded to the console. That just makes it easier and faster for the games to load. The graphics are much nicer and the added sharing features plus applications make it worthwhile.

I have been a Playstation user since the original. The PS4 has not disappointed me. If you're used to the PS3 home page layout, the PS4's will take some getting used to, but it's very nicely laid out. The graphics are fast and crystal clear. Controllers are comfortable. If there is a con to the system, I would say that there aren't enough games for use with the camera. I'm not the type to broadcast myself playing a game but I did enjoy playing the PS Move games.

    Best Playstation since the PS2

I'm a big Playstation fan since PS1 and have owned them all, with that said this is probably the best PS since PS2. I like my PS3 but it always felt like it was lacking in some features. PS4 takes it to a whole different level. The DS4 could have slightly better battery life, don't get me wrong IMO its not THAT terrible but the DS3 can outlast the hell out of it. If you have the Playstation camera, the speed commands work flawlessly. PSN downloads are way quicker and even better now that you can dl while on standby mode. All in all I would highly recommend the PS4 to anyone that might ask me if I like mine.

    Sony Steps UP their Console

I have owned every version of the Playstation console since the original. The PS4 is a great looking device aesthetically. I like the minimalist look on the front of the machine. You can barely recognize the power and eject buttons on the device. The graphics of the few games I have played are breathtaking. The features that Sony provides on the Dualshock 4 wireless controller are some of the most innovative features I have seen on controllers. It provides a speaker on the Dualshock which games such as Infamous:Second Son uses to perfection. There is a light that changes color from when you are playing or putting the system is standby mode. Lastly there is a touchpad that with certain games add to the overall enjoyment. You cannot even tell if the Playstation is powered on because it runs so quietly. All the other additions such as the home screen and fast downloads of games bought from the PSN network make this the best Playstation to date. I highly recommend this console to any true gamer that is looking for the most immersive gaming experience with STUNNING graphics.

It's too early for me to announce the champion in the next gen heavyweight console bout. On paper, the PS4 can outperform XboxOne. It will take a few years before game developers will unlock the full potential of either system. I'm looking forward to the virtual reality project Morpheus Sony has planned to work with the PS4. Also I dig PS exclusive titles over Xbox ones, plus I've been a Sony dude since the ol' gray playstation. Finally, I don't like Bill Gates.

I love the new PS4, it's not only fun to play, but it looks amazing itself. To top it off, it has given me new reason to use my PS Vita, which was sadly collecting dust on my shelf. As it stands, there aren't to many game's out for the system, but it usually comes with the territory of newly launched systems. Another knock against it, is that I can't use my Sony Elite Headset at the moment, they've promised an update in the future, hopefully it's not to long from now.

    Best decision I made

I have been an Xbox fan since 2001, and with xbox 360 in 2005. I was planning on staying loyal to Xbox and purchase the Xbox one, but after trying out the play station 4(ps4) , I have changed my mind. Three main reasons have changed my mind: 1) More affordable 2) Better controller 3) Upgradeable Many friends tried to justify paying extra money for the Xbox because it also comes with a camera, but I purchased it mainly for gaming . If I want the camera in the future I can purchase it then and it also costs only $60. I tried out both controllers and found the ps4 controller to feel much better in my hands than the bulky less comfortable Xbox one controller . Both consoles come with a 500 gb hard drive , but only PS4 is upgradeable to at least a 1tb hard drive. That's at least double the space. With the new consoles requiring you to download all the games data to your hard drive , you can easily fill up your hard drive with just a handful of games. All in all, I am very happy with my decision to purchase the Playstation 4,the gaming , and console design are also a plus

    Awesome Console

This console is awesome, worth the purchase. The menu system is great everything flows really well. Before the first OS update it was a little rocky and buggy with mere lag when you wanted to switch between applications. (Mainly when going into the PS Store) but that's all been fixed and runs smooth. Exclusive games are a must. Playstation plus goes across all devices like PS4, Vita, and PS3, which very cool if you own all three because with the free games you will basically get more back than you out in. The battery life on the controller is something to be desired, but is decent for a medium duration gaming session, but you'll need more than one if you want to do any marathoning. Overall it's a very great console and I'm excited to see what games are made for it. Beautiful design and very slim, I absolutely love this console.

This system is incredibly powerful, and we are only seeing a small part of the potential in the current game catalog. It's well priced, easy to use, and extremely fast at changing between applications and the home screen. The wifi was a little tricky to set up, but once it started working it was fine.

The product is the best playstation has to offer. It's fast, has amazing gameplay, and you can flip between apps with real stove ease and speed. Not trying to be negative on xbox, but this is 100 dollars cheaper and has everything an xbox has. Super buy if you are a gamer or are into the media world

I own both the XBONE, and PS4. I feel that both will be great systems and remembered fondly. For now, we wait for next generation to truly get underway. Games are beautiful, and we need to get to the new/original I.P.'s. Enjoy the transition with either next generation system. BTW, PS4 has brought me back into the Sony preferred camp. Time will tell if that lasts, but I am completely ready for what PS4 can do once the technology is harnessed.

As a gamer, I can say I've been at this since before Atari 2600, we're talking Pong and Telstar. The PS4 delivers in graphics and in content. You expect a great gaming console and mind blowing gaming is what you get. I am amazed at the graphics, sound and the great free content from PlayStation Plus. Not your typical free games, full top shelf games that you would actually want to play are offered for free monthly. Hats off to Sony!

This is a very early days review for the PS4, however, even in its relative infancy, I do enjoy this machine. I literally bought this to play the silent hills playable teaser, and don't regret that decision in the least. The new controllers are great, the interface is easy to use and super intuitive and the games that are out for it (and there aren't many yet...) are beautiful. I already have two high end gaming pcs and I still wanted to get this because Sony seems like they are more forward thinking than xbox, besides, the exclusives for this look better. I'm looking forward to the next few months as more games start dropping near Christmas, and the ultimate promise... project morpheus and all the new ways that VR will become a way to enjoy killing imaginary things.

Much better than PS3, definitely worth the upgrade, I wish I hadn't waited so long. Controller is better, UI is better, overall nice upgrade. Only regret is that it isn't backward compatable.
