Customers are saying
Customers love the PlayStation Classic Console's affordable price and the inclusion of two controllers, finding it easy to use and a nostalgic trip down memory lane. However, many are disappointed with the limited game selection and some have noted issues with the emulation quality. The compact size is also a frequently praised feature.

Good for Price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got it for $19.99, so cannot really complain. No where near the quality of games on the NES classics or the system. They didn’t include the best games for the PS1, nor are these all the versions they should be, but that is why the sales have been poor and the price has dropped. Definitely not worth the original $100 price tag, but for what I paid, provides enough entertainment.

Good With Price cut adjustment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At launch this unit was a bit of a disappointment. seemed to take advantage of the nostalgia of everyone when it was that high a price. now they seemed to have noticed not many people are willing to pay the full price. Also, just like the Nintendo classics, Sony did not seem to care about adding your own games to it and a few simple google searches can give you an idea how easy it actually is.

Only for PS1 lovers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This console could of been a lot better than it is. You would need to love the PS1 console to enjoy this. The performance and game selection is slacking for an "everyone" hit. Sony could of done better but its decent for what it is.

Really like this system

Great system, good value
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are much nicer than the Nintendo and Super Nintendo classic mini systems. It's just better packaged and of higher quality plastic and you get TWO controllers that are standard USB, so they'll work on other systems. The game selection isn't bad at all and definitely worthy of the price tag.

It’s not like the nintendos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The system feels cheap out of the box. This should be one those $30 off brand remakes. It doesn’t include a charger block so I have to use the one from my Nintendo which is fine but for the $40 more that it cost over the NES classic it should have its own charger. The games seem ok, haven’t played much yet. You buy these mini systems for the look and feel of the old systems and this one just doesn’t have it. Better off playing the games on your PC.

Flawed software but exceptional hardware
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just say this, Sony absolutely nailed the quality of this mini representation of the original PS1 console. The detail down to the vent ports on the bottom showing a fake I/O shield really show how much they cared about the look. Now, as for the software....yeah. The selection of games certainly isn't the greatest. Out of the 20, probably less than half are true classics and the others thrown on likely because they were cheap to license. Which is a shame. On top of that the emulation quality is only so-so. Inconsistent framerates everywhere. But, for the plug and play system that it is, it isn't horrible. Just, imperfect. It can certainly be quite fun to sit and chill with a friend and play some of these classics. It could (and should) have been so much more.

Good when you Mod it
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is good only if you mod/hack it. The original games that came with this were not worth the original price value $100 It has now decreased to $50, to $30, to $20 which is what it’s worth. The open box is just as great if you want to get it even cheaper! Once you mod it and add games you should be able to get the full classic experience for $20!

Complete garbage, unless you do this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited and waited for this to drop because I've read all the reviews of Sonys lazy game line up and emulation. It's terrible. But now since it's been cracked and modified it's a amazing thing to own especially if you still have all your original PS1 games! (No you cant play discs) its $39 now. Get it!

Great at $25
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The emulation is PAL based, so more sluggish than the NTSC format used in the states due to the lower frame rate, and they could have included better games. Definitely not worth the $99 they wanted at launch, but for $25 I'll keep it in the box and maybe it'll be worth something one day LOL.

4 star because of the sale price...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If it wasn't for this thing being on sale, I wouldn't have purchased it. At full price it would've been a regretful purchase. Most games play well, other not so much. Tekken 3 for example is a little slower than the original, you can feel it while you play it. Also, it doesn't come with a power brick. Recommend only if you can get it on sale.

Disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the new mini version of Nintendo’s classic consoles and hoping for an N64 version. Sony say them flying off the shelves and attempted to try to do the same, but forgot which games sold so many systems! They even resorted to lowering the price 40 dollars right after Xmas. Luckily I had not opened mine and returned it. One bright note is their are people out there that figured a pretty simple way to add games using a jump drive. I’ll likely pick one up again now that they are cheaper just for collecting, but if you want to play your favorites you’ll need to add something.

Only buy if you want to mod it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's a big reason this has dropped as low as twenty bucks. The base games on this console are pretty bad. It also doesn't include dual shock controllers which were available on PS1. There were a lot of missed opportunities in general. However, you can fix it! There are hack packs out there that let you modify the base system and run roms on it to play what you want instead. There are also 3rd party controllers out there that do have dual shock functionality. So, out of the box I would not recommend it. But, if you get it at a good price and are willing to spend some time and a little extra money fixing it yourself, you can have a pretty sweet classic system.

Great for PS fans
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a great little system especially if you get it for cheap I only paid $19.99 and it was worth every penny just for MGS and yes it’s not the best all the reviews are right about the PAL games being slow and sluggish but honestly if you get it for cheap it’s worth it

Pretty good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it’s a pretty good unit. I got it when it was $20 on sale and honestly that’s as much as I would pay for it. It looks cool and runs great but the game selection is mediocre at best.

If you owned an original PSX....
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun retro item. Is better if you put RetroPie on it. If you already have a Raspberry Pi, save the money and unless you want it for the fun retro novelty. I like these systems but they are limited and overpriced out the box. The controllers are really good replicas and very comfortable/responsive.

A great mini machine after some DIY touch-ups
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, the PS Classic isn't too impressive. Only 20 games with some notable omissions (where's Parappa the Rapper??), some games are the PAL version for some reason (which have lower frame rates than their North American counterparts), and some graphical & audio hiccups with some games. The only good thing about the Classic out of the box is the form factor; the mini PS1 with the power and reset buttons look cool in person, and the eject button even functions to change games. After some aftermarket touch-ups, however, the PS Classic becomes a beast. You can put just about any PS1 game imaginable on the system, and can even run NES/SNES/Sega games as well. You can add scanlines to the screens, which is a niftly little feature. Overall, a great little piece of hardware if you're willing to make it work. If you're able to get it for $20, like I was able to, then that makes this a no-brainer purchase.
