    Good overall reliable flash drive

Bought the flash drive on a sale special primarily to store photos and videos taken with my digital camera. In today's market, you should avoid paying more than 50 cents per gigabyte for any flash drive. If the rate is higher, wait for a sale. Actual capacity of this flash drive is 127,966,150,656 bytes, which is why I gave this product only an average rating for capacity. My rating is based on an apples-to-apples approach. Naturally, if you compare this product to some 16 GB drive, it has all the space in the world! The good rating given for performance is based on a combination of speed and smoothness of data transfer. I did a trial run of copying a large file (1.52 GB) from my computer's hard drive to the unit. The initial transfer rate was sluggish (~ 3.5 MB/sec) but quickly increased to a level maximum of about 11.3 MB/sec. While this is better than the typical I've witnessed for moving data to and from flash drives, it pales when compared to the rate I've seen for moving a big file to my Passport USB hard drive (average maximum about 67 MB/sec; have seen it peak at about 80MB/sec). The data transfer was very smooth. Try to avoid storing small files on this PNY. While the flash drive will hold them just fine, it's a highly inefficient use of this unit. Regardless of size, small files will take up a minimum of 32,768 bytes of space. You can reformat the unit to reduce the minimum (say 4,096 bytes), but you will pay the price in a slower transfer speed and longer time for your computer to read and recognize the drive.

Way too slow to be useful

I didn't pay enough attention to the few bad reviews about speed and I should have. I have over 10 usb keys of various sizes and brands and this is the slowest by far. I'm not impatient and I don't demand huge speed from my electronics, but 10 minutes to transfer 113 mb (comprising 3000 small files) is not acceptable. All my other usb can do it in 2 minutes and they are all 2.0. Just to erase 9 GB to return the stick tomorrow, it took 14 minutes! I don't know what the problem is. Is it that the few of us who are complaining about speed got lemons or are other customers happy waiting forever to get their stuff transferred? I'm leaving this review to let you know that this problem can happen (whether all usb keys have it or not) so be aware that you might encounter it too. I got this product at a huge discount. But even at $19.99 it's a horrible price for such a slow speed.

PNY - Attaché 128GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive---An excellent choice and will work in anything. 2.0, 3.0 flash drive ect. Note: Do you know if u have 2.0 or 3.0 device. This is how to tell---Look at the port (The flash drive or the Computer port) Black is 2.0, blue is 3.0. Some 3.0 Flash drives will state on the package "2.0 compatible" . NOT NECESSARILY TRUE---Save your receipt if the 3.0 flash drive doesn't work in your 2.0 device you can always return it for a 2.0. This is the biggest reason I like Best Buy. Open package and all---no problems with the return. Finally the device that I had issues with was a Digital to Analog TV converter box. (Don't laugh) 3.0 Flash drive package stated 2.0 compatible. When plugged in to the unit an error message came up on the screen "no device recognized". Returned and exchanged for a 128GB 2.0 flash drive--all is good works great. Happy to any question I can u may have.

Very Solid, Compact 128gb USB 2.0

I purchased this to act as the entertainment library on a Raspberry PI 2B running OSMC (Kodi). The Pi has no problems addressing the drive and since the Pi is only USB 2.0, the cost savings over the 3.0 model was fine. The new Attache shape is about half the thickness of the old full size attache unit, and about the same as the old compact attache. The connector is metal, while the old compact attache was plastic. The protective sleeve seems to operate better than the old Attache design. I have 2 of the old design that are now very difficult to open/close because of heat warpage. The slight indentation at the rear of the new unit is probably supposed to help you grip it, but it is too small to be effective. Performance wise, it's faster than my 64 gb compact attaches, but not as fast as the Turbo usb 3.0 units (as expected.) I have decent luck with PNY flash drives, and Best Buy has them on sale often, so when I need one, I usually only have to wait a week at most to get a much better price. So, I would recommend this unit if you only need USB 2.0; the price difference between the 2.0 and 3.0 units when on sale is usually less than 5 dollars, so If you are buying for higher performance, I'd go with the 3.0 unit.

I have several attache models from over the years. This newest model has become thinner, and the sliding sleeve is also thinner plastic with a better catch design. My older attach models have become harder to open/close as the plastic has warped from heat generated by usage. This design might not warp as badly. The slight indent at the rear I guess is to make pulling it out of the usb port easier- it doesn't. I purchased usb 2 solely because the device the unit was targeted to only supports usb 2 (raspberry pi 2b). It is slow, because it's only 2.0, but if you can catch them on sale, the price difference between 2.0 and 3.0 tends to be less than 10 dollars. I'd buy 3.0 only, if not for the quirk of this units planned usage. I have had fair-to-good luck with PNY flash drives. They work well, but are not as fast as the SanDisk models that are direct competitors. That said, they are also a few dollars cheaper on average so it's really a personal choice. I never buy any flash drive that isn't on sale.

What we have here is a classy PNY 128gb flash drive. You can call it an attaché if you want to, but let’s be real — the only people that call it that are the French and the pretentious...so basically just the French. It holds up to 128gb of memory. That’s flash memory, hence flash drive, which means that your memory is readily accessible as soon as you plug this bad boy into your computer. Unfortunately it’s only a USB 2.0 so the data transfer speed isn’t as fast as a 3.0, but hey for $20 can you really complain? In a day and age when memory is taken for granted and things are seemingly taking up more memory than they should it’s always handy to have a spare 128gb of storage on hand. I’m satisfied with my purchase. You should be too.

I always have several thumb drives with me in my bag at all times ranging up to 64gb. I now added three PNY 128 drives. Why? Let's start with 2.4 TB of info on my 3 TB hardrive. Now consider I have 90gb of music to go on one PNY128, 80gb of pictures on another PNY 128, and 42gb of work files on my 64gb sandisk. The third PNY 128 will be used for books, two laptop backups etc. - What I like best about the 128PNY IS THAT IT ACTUALLY READS MORE GB THAN LISTED - WOW! That never happens, and it matches both my MacBooks - I also like the smaller profile when inserted. Sandisk is also a nice drive, but the silver match and more than expected space sold me and I then bought two more - on sale of course. Now let's see if a couple years from now if they hold up as well as my Sandisk are (all still working from many years ago).

    As Good As The Cloud

I have a lot of photos and documents that I do not want to lose. I have tried various "cloud" storage but find them slow to upload and download, and I do worry about the "unlikely" possiblitiy of a cloud storage server being hacked or material somehow being lost. Plus, having to look for wifi for anything other than my phone is a pain--and wifi quality varies dramatically. So I've found this little flash drive as secure and accessable as anything, and way faster than cloud uploads and downloads. I also feel the flash drive is the most private form of storage. I keep several and rotate them regularly, plus an extra one for travel purposes. I like the 128 Gig size as it accomodates a ton of photos. Although my devices are 3.0 capable, I've not found that much difference between the 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives--at least not enough for the extra cost of the 3.0. For my money, the 128 G flash drive is fast, easy, and secure storage for at home or away from home.

    USB 2.0

It doesn't mention it anywhere in the specs, but take note that this is NOT a USB 3.0 drive. This drive uses the slower USB 2.0, and is slow even as 2.0 drives go. For a drive this size the speed difference will be significant. If your expected use for a USB drive is to quickly copy files, grab the drive and go, this is not the drive for you. A 20gb transfer to this drive took about 2 1/2 hours. If you are going to actually fill the drive, plan on starting your copy before you go to bed--you might get lucky and have it completed when you get up, but to be on the safe side you should probably plan on waiting until you get home from work the next day.

With no caps to lose, you'll love the modern look of the PNY Attaché. Instead of using a traditional cap to cover the USB connector, the drive has a sliding collar that easily glides open and closed. Simply push back the sliding collar and insert the connector into your computer's USB port to transfer files to and from your computer. The PNY Attaché is sleek and durable; small enough to slip in your pocket, purse, briefcase & etc. From the classroom to the boardroom, it's a durable and attractive electronic accessory. It's lightweight and small in size, but big in capacity. Rest assured all your content will be safely secured on the PNY Attaché flash drive, which offers capacities up to 128GB. The Attaché USB flash drive is perfect for storing large files such as, movies, videos and music. Imagine this: with a 128GB Attaché USB flash drive you could be carrying 45K+* photos in the palm of your hand!

I purchased this specifically for my Pioneer AVH1440NEX in my car. I currently have a Sandisk 64gb that is already at 50% memory usage with my mp3's, wav's, flac's, and my Matrix trilogy. I wanted a bit more room in case I get more movies or HQ song files. WAV and FLAC files are almost 10x the size of a 128k mp3. After almost all of Sunday moving all my files into the new PNY drive which I formatted to FAT32, same as the Sandisk, it is causing my Pioneer head unit to constantly go into the "format read" error. It's constantly restarting the head unit, than says "format read", then restarts and repeats. As good of a value as this drive was I should have stayed with a brand I can rely on like Sandisk.

    Very Slow USB Drive

I purchased this flash drive to replace an old Sandisk 1GB drive I've had for years. This drive was on sale at the store for $54.99, which is an awesome price. To my disappointment, the flash drive is EXTREMELY slow. I've tried it on several computer to be sure it's not my hardware causing the issue. The transfer rate of files ranges between bytes/s and MB/s. The drive cannot keep a consistent transfer rate. It's rated for USB 2.0, which is probably why it was on sale, but the average transfer rate is below 50KB/s, making it extremely poor for storing and deleting anything on the drive. I've tried changing the filesystem (came formatted as FAT32), but neither NTFS or exFAT was able to help. DO NOT BUY.

I was transferring data from an external hard drive compatible with my older Mac laptop to my new computer, which is a touch-screen PC running Windows 8. I ran into trouble with compatibility so had to use the old laptop as the mid-point between the old external and this jump drive. It held everything that I needed and the transfer completed pretty quickly, all involved hardware considered. The only thing that I'm not crazy about with this jump is that the thicker part on the end (opposite the PNY logo) moves back/retracts to reveal the USB connector. It caused a little worry that it could malfunction or cause wear more quickly than a removable top or flip-top. I won't be using it that much, since it's more for archiving, and maybe that's a good thing.

It does take a while for files to be moved to the device (I just added a number of movies from my computer to the device and it took about three hours for it to finish). As long as this is an extra flash drive that maybe you carry when you travel and want access to your movies, books, music, etc then you will be very happy with this product. If it is your daily flash drive, you might find that it is too slow for your liking. It also has a plastic sliding case over it, which is difficult to slide. A number of times it has gotten stuck and today is the first day I opened the product. If you don't want to slide it over the usb to "protect" it, then you don't have to worry. If you do like that feature, it might become frustrating. As I paid $35 for this, it was worth the money. I do not think I would pay much more for it though.

Purchased this because it was cheap and is 128gb size. I work as IT and am VERY particular about my thumb drives. I use YUMI multi boot to run both Win 10 installer and a puppy linux installer/boot. I also keep A LOT of my other IT tools on drive as well as a few games. I use a 128gb samsung 3.0 with full metal body as my main drive. I did not expect this at 2.0 to get close write speeds and got this as a backup. It works as a backup but the write speeds are very slow. Oh well, get what you pay for. I would recommend this at the sale price I got. Do not pay over $20 for this.

I needed 128 Gigs and I couldn't pass up on this product, given the price. It replaced a smaller capacity LEXAR which stopped retracting and stopped working when I got it out again. Buyers should be aware of the shortcomings of this PNY product. FIRST: It is exceptionally slow. I knew it would be given that it was only a 2.0, but to transfer 68 Gigs took well over an hour. SECOND: The light on the thumbdrive that indicates it is transferring data NEVER WORKED. I rely on this feature to make sure that I don't pull it out of the port too soon. I am also a bit concerned that this is also retractable, but think it will be easier to pull off the productive cap, if necessary. Overall, cheap memory, with several limitations.

    128GB for 27.99 AWESOME DEAL!! 30MBs Write

    Prerunning

This was only 27.99 at my local Best Buy. It didn't say that it was on sale or a special, at 27.99 this is a spectacular deal and I was very surprised. It performs well. The average write speed is between 15-30mbs on my USB 3.0 and about 5mbs on USB 2.0 in ExFat format. It will probably perform faster if formatted for windows only(ntfs), mine is formatted to transfer between PC and Mac. Its definitely not the fastest flash drive, so if speed is your main concern I would go with something with full USB 3.0 performance. But If you're like me and just need moderate performance and high capacity for cheap, THIS IS PERFECT!

This thing is a BEAST in the sense of storage space. 128GB USB for 60$ can't be beaten. If you want a USB that can hold this much let me tell you, GET IT TODAY! The only two issues I have with this drive are: 1) It's a PNY (not a PNY fan ew...but totally irrelevant so ignore this! ) 2) USB 2.0 not a 3.0. Meaning, it doesn't matter if you are transferring a total of 128GB on to it or what...will still take forever. 20GB will take you about two hours, so 120GB logically will take you about... half a day topos ONLY half a day yeah! I would suggest this to a friend though purely due to the price.

Returning item ASAP. Picked this up due to the sale and value for the size, however the product is junk or the one I have has issues. Transfer speeds are garbage, not getting better than 350k write speed. Before you think it's operator error - it's not. Using this on a 3.0 USB drive, proper device configuration and have multiple other portable media drives/sticks/cards of same size that all transfer at correct speeds. The read speed and transfer from device is fine, however, the write speed is garbage. Exchanging for Sandisk as I've never had an issue with them.

I'm very fond of Android and it's ability to support external devices via an OTG cable, with this 128GB flash drive it has allowed me to more than double the space available on my device! I often take a lot of photos and i'm always filling up my Micro SDcard, with this flash drive I'm able to seamlessly make backups and offload the photos and other unnecessary files to free up space on my phone. Pros: - Great little flash drive for making quick backups from your PC or mobile device. -Good price! Cons: My only con would be the overall build, it's generally built well, but I do wish it was built out of a more premium material then plastic. Performance 9/10 Build Quality 8/10 Overall 9.5/10
