Did not work well at the start

PNY hasn't never been the best product for me and yet I still buy them thinking they have improved over the years. Hence this recent purchase is some what problematic right away. Just FYI: my intended purpose of purchasing this flash drive is to give a friend all the pictures taken during his wedding, both raw and jpeg files. Purchased this particular flash drive because of the size, availability, and price. No complaints there. The issue is some what a compatibility issue with my PCs. My newer PC has USB 3.0 all around and this flash drive would drop to 0 MB/s at each one of them while transferring about 40-50 MB of raw photos. There are other flash drives out there that can work with USB 3.0, but have a USB 2.0 transfer speeds. I was baffled on why it does not consistently transfer files and have transfer drops in my newer PC. I went on to my other PC that is a bit older and has USB 2.0 ports. Here I can see the value of this flash drive where is working fine. I do understand that this is a USB 2.0 flash drive, but it should not be dropping transfer speed or crashing and ejecting itself from the PC. Personal recommendations: For those who are just looking to store small files such as word, pdf, and jpeg files that's about 10MB in great quantity then this is okay, but might run into drop transfer speeds and compatibility issues. Power users who need a flash drive that need to transfer huge file size and is compatible with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 then skip this product or look for a PNY USB 3.0 flash drive. Also don't let the price entice you to buy this if you're a power user (at the time of purchase this was priced at $10.99).

    Turns into Read Only Cache

I used this drive to back up critical files for a research project involving audio and video files gathered from the internet or on location. I liked the idea of having more than enough space to store files for transfer between a laptop used for field research and a more powerful desktop used for compiling the final report. At a point after six months using the drive to store the research, I forgot to remove the drive from my desktop computer at shutdown. The next time I started the computer, the drive was locked in a read only mode, meaning I couldn't edit the files on the drive or add new information from the field. Lots of information is available on how to correct the "PNY Read Only" problem, except none worked. I even researched how to unlock the "computer administrator" login for Windows 7 thinking I could supersede mere "user" permissions assigned to the format and used to create the files. Turns out PNY was it's own "administrator." I've sent the PNY, my $39.95 plus tax, my last research update, and the PNY "permissions" to computer recycle heaven, where hopefully a better manufacturer will change the matter molecules into something more universally useful.

Failed after 2 weeks, after safe ejections each and every time and about 400 scans of receipts, one at a time spanning 30 years. During failure it failed to recognize the drive, and asked if I wanted to reformat the USB drive, which I elected not to, so I could pursue some type of data recovery. Lost all data, contacted manufacturer technical support immediately, who said it occurs from time to time, nothing could be done, referred to me to a software supplier of data recovery software, who never followed up to send the free download, after signing up for the demo software. Nonetheless I tried 2 additional different software recoveries, and both could not find the drive. Best Buy did exchange the drive for a different supplier, which made the bad experience and 2 weeks of lost time scanning and organizing the receipts less painful.

    Worst Flash Drive Around

This was the first flash drive I bought in a while as they usually break on me. I had around 64gb to save so I thought I would try it again. I was so careful with it to ensure it didn't break. Than what I didn't even think could happen did. My computer died while data was transferring, It just needed to be plugged in but the flashdrive could not be found after that and neither could my data. I called the company and Best Buy, no one could find help. I had it for 2 days before this happened. Very disappointed and fusterated. I will never buy this name again.

I junked the USB, did not format

I first copied my file to this USB after receiving the stock. Next time when I used, it became read only and prompted for format. This usb drive did not format on 3 different computers I used, or different formats like fat, NTFS or exfat. I could not return since I had personal info on the stick but could not delete. So I had to junk the USB to buy a different brand such as SanDisk. Will not buy PNY again. I had USB bought 10 years ago still working. This is my first time with this trouble.

This thumb drive stopped working after 3 weeks. I had to reformat it after using it for about 3 days and that seemed to solve the problem but now my computer does not even recognize that it is plugged in, I have no way of erasing my data that's currently stored on it keeping me from returning or exchanging it. Other USB devices work fine so I know it's not a problem with my USB ports or computer.

Does not work, Geek Squad can not get it to work. Try to get support from PNY, quite difficult. Google PNY USB drivers/ formatting and read the horror stories. Save yourself the headache and go with a different brand. Maybe you'll get lucky and get one that is formatted for use here or maybe you'll try for a few days to get it to work before you have to return it for a brand that works.

This cute little item does not hold a format, will not accept data and isn't worth the time of day. Unfortunately I did not discover this in a timely manner and we are stuck with it. Major rip off and you guys should have checked them out before advertising them so heavily, If it had worked, it would have been a great deal. As it is, a total loss.

Used this thumb drive may 5-6 times before it went completely dead. I plugged it into my iMac to see if I could format it and it was undiscoverable. As if it wasn't even plugged in. Unfortunately, I purchased two and couldn't get a refund because they were past the return date. What a waste of money. I'm not going to get my hopes up about the second one.

$17 down the drain. Plugged it into the Arlo Pro as a second local storage drive. Once the first drive (Kingston DataTraveler) was full,I noticed the PNY was not detected. Tried on several other computers, The drive is not visible with any system, not even to reformat or check for firmware updste. Total waste. Only had the device for 3 months.

The driver for the thumb drive was installed on first use and I copied files onto the unit. Safely ejected the thumb drive and then re-inserted and attempted to read the files from the drive, but got thumb drive driver errors (i.e., not recognized). Broke the unit apart and threw it away. Bought a San Disk thumb drive as a replacement.

TCL permeated with magenta fixed vertical lines and riddled with sporadic horizontal interference-like lines. Called TCL, and after walking me through boilerplate solutions, declared it defective. I arranged a replacement with Best Buy which I received yesterday. So far it is O.K. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

This flash drive wouldn't work or be recognized when I connected it to any computer. I made sure all drivers and components were up to date and still no luck. After reviewing comments online, I found that this particular brand of flash drives has had the same problem with many users. I ended up returning it to Best Buy for a full refund.

After 5 months with this drive, it's has stopped functioning. 99% of the time it was plugging into the back of my machine and was hardly every moved. Now it is not recognized by any computer. I've lost everything on it and would not recommend it to anyone. Stay away from this product!

Real world transfer write speeds ~4MB/s. This thing is abysmally slow. Got it on sale 65% off and still returning it. Used CrystalDiskMark to test it and worst values I've ever seen on a flash drive. Also got the 128Gb version and tests were even worse. Stay clear of the Attache series.
