Picked it up to upgrade an old lenovo. What a difference compared to the mechanical disk. Granted this is not the fastest drive but gets the job done effortlessly. Definitely recommend when you want to make a dead slow computer usable again without breaking the bank.

Good drive, with a caveat for cloning

I installed this 120GB SSD into an older desktop computer, that has a SATA II 3Gb/S interface. The drive has been reliable so far. Benchmarking reveals it writes faster than read with the slower SATA interface, about 225 MB/S read and 260 MB/S write, which is unusual. An unexpected finding is that Linux Mint would NOT boot with UEFI on this drive, and I had to change BIOS settings to disable UEFI. It works perfectly with MBR boot. As long as you do a fresh installation of your OS with MBR I would expect it to work just fine. Most newer factory installations of software will use UEFI as their default, and cloning a hard drive with a EFI partition is probably going to result in a new drive that won't boot. If you're cloning a Windows or Linux image, I would look to a Sandisk 120 GB SSD Plus, as I have one of those that works just fine with UEFI. Those installing their OS fresh and able to disable UEFI in their BIOS will have no problems. Mine is an Intel desktop board with a G41 chipset, with a Core2Quad installed. Others may have a better experience than I did with a newer chipset and a SATA III 6 Gb/S interface. Anyway it works fine so far, and really improves a computer I'm giving away on the cheap.

Maybe not the fastest SSD but sure is better than a HDD. Good price, installation presented no issues.

This drive works great for what I need. I am a photographer and I put this drive in a case to use as an external drive. I use this as an external working drive with Lightroom as I go back in forth between computers at home and in studio.

I've purchased many of these drives. I have NEVER had one fail over the last 2+ years and have never had a DOA. I will continue to purchase these for the purpose of upgrading my systems. SSD is a great way to breath new life into an old pc, or upgrade a good computer and turn it into a super computer!

SSD's are a great upgrade for a home computer and this one did not disappoint. I have used PNY's higher priced models and Samsung EVOs in the past and I can honestly not tell the difference between this model and the more expensive SSD's.

I've used this hard drive 10 different times with budget builds, and have been very happy with the performance. I'm getting sub 5 second boot times to Windows 10. 120gb can be a bit small if you're loading multiple games, just keep that in mind when comparing it to the next size up.

A low-cost upgrade for older machines

With these lower-priced solid state drives, it's important to understand what you're getting. There is no DRAM, and the controller isn't one of the best. You're not going to see NVMe speeds with a drive like this, and you're not going to pay the NVMe premium because of that. What these drives are perfect for is upgrading an older machine that has a normal hard disk in it. This will certainly make a notable difference as even a drive like this is much faster than some of the slow hard disks that laptops have come with. So I got this and put it in an older Dell desktop for the boot drive, and even though that computer is almost 10 years old, it still feels very fast to use. If your computer is very sluggish to startup, load windows, open programs, etc., then this is your low-cost solution.

I have an older laptop that I refurbished and one of the components I wanted to replace was the hard drive. This drive works great and is much faster than the original mechanical drive. Great if you don't need to much space and want to be budget friendly. Definitely recommended

I use an older desktop with a 3rd gen i7 3770. Which u would expect to be quiet slow to keep up with today's systems, but with the simple switch from a HDD to SSD to hold my O.S. and a few necessary main software programs it improved the speed and overall performance of an outdated computer 10× over runs close to the speeds of most 7 to 8 gen computer's. For a cheap and easy upgrade that you can't go wrong with. If storage size is the issue for you you can use your HDD u just replaced for the rest of your media, programs, & whatever else you want to store on your pc with out breaking your budget by going from a 1TB HDD to a 120 GB SSD. All in all great product to invest in if you want/need a greater performance in upload & Download speed. I would recommend this product to any one buying a new storage drive than using old HDDS. 2 THUMBS WAY UP.

I've actually bought a handful of these from Best Buy now, and had good luck with all of them. They're cheap, reasonably fast and last quite well in my experience. I would definitely recommend them in a pinch or for a quick upgrade for Grandma's old PC or whatever.
