This was a replacement hard drive. The one I had before just quit on me. It took no time to install and everything works great. The price was unbelievable. I can remember when you had to pay $100.00 per MB on a solid state drive. Thank goodness those days are well behind us. 240 GB is more than enough for my school use.

Great ssd drive, I see very little differences in this drive vs the Samsung evo drive I have in my work computer. For the money you can’t beat it, easy to install. No software comes with the drive to clone but supposedly Microsoft has some built into windows 10. Either way it brought my very old notebook back to life, glad I purchased.

This SSD has very good performance to price ratio. Nor quite as fast as my Samsung drives but it is very close and half the price. Time will tell as to durability! I am using it on a Linux laptop that I rebuilt and did not want to spend much in till I found if the computer would be viable. Very Happy with this part!

This PNY 240 GB SSD is a go to of mine. The specs seem on par, especially for the price. I've bought this 3-4x in the past year to breathe new life in machines with lagging hard drives. No issues in 3-4x and still kicking. 240 GB works well for a OS disk or only disk for web browsing/word processing machine.

If all you need is a drive to boot your OS and a few large programs this drive is perfect for its price point. Getting a larger drive isn't much more expensive and they have been getting cheaper. Just make sure to do your research on a large sized SSD as there's a possibility it could just about be the same speed as a mechanical drive due to the way its designed.

    Great laptop upgrade

Renew your old laptop with an SSD. Boot times are awesome! The PNY SSD's come with a free Acronis downloadable transfer software. You must use it with a PNY drive. Use the Clone Disk feature. It will copy all of the partitions that your laptop needs. It will use MBR or GPT. It will shrink the partitions as needed. Just look at how much space you are using on your current drive and purchase a SSD drive that is 2x that amount. This helps with Wear-Leveling. I had a 750GB HDD (only used 100GB) and transferred to a 256GB SSD. The disk clone software from Acronis is well worth any difference in price you may find on a bargain SSD. Install the software with old HDD installed and get a SATA-USB adapter to connect the PNY SSD. Transfer is fast if you have USB 3.0. It even copies any Restore partitions from the original HDD. I've used PNY SSD's on several computers flawlessly. Note, Acronis True Image does not work with Windows XP. I've used it with Windows 7, 8, and 10.

I was getting tired of the lengthy boot up times with my secondary Vista based computer. This solid state drive solved the problem. My computer had enough memory but was loading so many background files that the old hard drive ran forever. SSD drives find the files instantly thus the boot up is much faster. Well worth it.

So cheap, why not get it just to have a spare? I used this to replace a dying drive in my HTPC, worked perfectly and boots up quickly, even though the system is getting kind of old (i7 2600K). Have used several PNY SSDs, they have always been great values and worked perfectly for me.

A decent SSD to upgrade the old and slow hard drive on my old laptop. Even though this is a "low end" SSD without DRAM, it breathed new life into my laptop. I wouldn't recommend it for a brand new computer build, but for computers where you don't care much for anymore, this is perfect.

I purchased this for a great price. For The cost, this SSD has been great. It's not the best SSD out there, but if you need an SSD on a budget, it's a great alternative to a HDD. I needed it for a laptop that needed a new hard drive. I notice a big performance difference over the stock HDD.

I have bought dozens of these hard drives to put in older computers to make them faster over the past two years and so far have not had any issues with them. Their performance as an SSD have been great. I would recommend them to anyone looking to speed up an old computer, or as a hard drive replacement.

I'm an online teacher and my hard-drive in my PC crashed within a month of the school transitioning fully online. I was able to install the PNY solid state drive within 10 minutes (my first attempt). The system boots up much quicker & websites/pages load at mach-speed ((as opposed to previously) without hesitation. Videos load and play without any issues of buffering. I actually plan to buy one and install in my 3 year old laptop.

    OK drive, worthless software

The SSD works, unsurprisingly, like an SSD, nice and fast. Makes booting up the PC quick and easy. BUT, the Acronis software that came with it was worthless. Instead of cloning my Windows drive, it made an unbootable mess of it, with odd partitions before and after the actual data. I ended up doing a clean install. Buy only if you have your own disc cloning software, I note that I've had no issues with SSDs from a company that rhymes with "hung."

I've been swapping out the hard drives in all of my computers to SSD and I've been very pleased with the result. The fact that I can go from a cold reboot to being logged in in less than 20 seconds is amazing! Less heat, less noise, higher speed. What's there not to love about an SSD? :)

So I'm in IT and we're transitioning many computers to Solid State, we need little storage so usually 120 to 240 GB is what we buy, I've bought anywhere from 10 to 20 of these PNY drives, and not one has failed or had any performance issues over the course of three years. Great product.

Fairly faster than the one I was using previously. 240 is a decent amount if youre just putting an operating system and not much else. Quality is decent. and it stays cool. Was really easy to mount and attach. I wish it came with its own set of cables though.

I've installed at least a half a dozen of these over the last couple of years. Solid performance and no issues over that time. Not a barn burner compared to something like the Samsung EVO line, but also a fair bit cheaper. Especially as it goes on sale often.
