The 240 is just a few dollars more than the 128, with nearly twice as much space, so this is an excellent value and worth the upgrade. Worked as expected. Fast and quiet. Didn't come with mounting screws as far as I could see.

PNY is the Spirit Airlines of computer components! Summary: The PNY 240GB internal SATA solid state drive is a great option if you simply need a SSD at the lowest price possible. Faster than a mechanical hard drive and price slightly below other solid state drives. However, if you are expecting any software (data migration or utility software) that other manufacturers include for free, avoid this product. Same goes for PNY technical support or online information. Spend the extra $5 or 10 for something from Samsung or Western Digital (SanDisk). PNY is a budget brand for a reason. Details: Current hard drive in 4 year old PC was starting to have performance issue and just needed to replace it with a SSD to get a few more years out of the device. Never purchased PNY SSD before, but could not ignore the price discount. The packaging included the drive and that is it. Visited the PNY support website with the expectation that everything I would need would be a click or two away. Here are the issues with PNY... 1. Data Migration PNY offers Acronis True Image OEM software on their site, but upon installation of the program, prompted to enter software serial number. The software is not free (actually costs more than the SSD). 2. Technical Support No clear information on website that the data migration software is a separate purchase. Attempted to contact PNY technical support via telephone to verify the software licensing issue. Unnecessary complex automated call flow that caused the call to be disconnected twice. On third attempt, got an actual human that confirmed the software is no longer included with the drives. Tech suggested searching online for free alternatives. 3. Software / Firmware Updates While on the support website, noticed that the manufacturer rarely provided updates for their products. Last firmware for this SSD was 05/2018. Same thing goes for the Acronis software on the site. The digital signature for the file is two years old! Other PCs that I own have solid state drives from other manufacturers. The other brands included all the necessary software, guides and technical support needed for someone to perform this DIY upgrade. Your results may vary, but this is my first and last PNY SSD.

My hard drive had issues and I needed to replace it. I'm not thrilled with my pc laptop and didn't want to invest in an expensive hard drive...just something to keep it going as a back up to my work provided Mac. I knew SSD drives were faster but also considerably more expensive and was thrilled that my geek squad agent found this for me...for $29.99! I can't believe the difference in speed. It's made a world of difference in performance...no more waiting and waiting and waiting to boot up...just seconds now.

This is a DRAMless SSD, so it is not the fastest you can buy. However, I have had mine since 2020 and it has since been through 2 computers over its life and I have been happy with it between the systems as it is older hardware which doesn't necessarily need the fastest SSD you can get. While this is a good drive to extend the life of aging hardware without NVMe support that benefits from an SSD, I would not purchase this for a NVMe compatible system as a primary - it is good secondary storage if on sale, but a good NVMe SSD is better when possible. The replacement system this is in is NVMe compatible, and I am running it on NVMe with a SATA storage drive.

    Great SSD for a Boot-Drive

I purchased this solid state drive to be used as a boot-drive for an older tower that I upgraded as as a low-end gaming computer for my girlfriend. One year later and her computer still boots incredibly fast. I store her Steam games on a used hard disk drive, and only place small programs on the solid state drive. If you're looking for a boot-drive only, look no further. Pick-up this drive, especially on sale, and you won't regret it.

These PNY SSDs are a great product for the money. I have purchased many of these drives and upgraded my family's laptops with them. The included Acronis True Image drive copy software is a bonus because you don't have to waste time reinstalling Windows 7 or the programs. In my opinion there is no reason to pay for the overpriced Samsung or Sandisk drives when these drives have comparable specs at a lower price.

Bought as part of a PC upgrade, it has improved my boot times greatly over my previous SSDs. Every new window snaps open quite well instead of being sluggish. Read/Write speeds above average on this specific product, even over other SSDs I have running right now. It's been as reliable as every SSD I've gotten so far, all of which are currently running in this or other PCs. The only change I would make is that I would have gotten a larger size given the opportunity. But keeping the cost of the build down was a must.
