I'm running Linux Mint on an old Compaq laptop and it works great for what I need it for (web browsing, email, using Libreoffice, etc.). Boot up time is fast and the laptop doesn't "hang" at all. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who uses a pc/laptop get an SSD. They are so cheap and effective.
