After you format and initialize it, you can use it for any purpose you like. It has really great speed for 2.5” form factor and is super reliable, I’ve used many of these and never had any issues, Mac or Windows both work really well! If you need an SSD like this, you will get roughly same performance for this PNY as you would from any Samsung SSD in this form factor. I recommend it!

Surprising SSD

It woke this laptop up. Boots to password screen in less than 5 seconds. No more waiting for this machine to boot.

Easy Upgrade at a Great Price

I definitely notice a speed increase when opening apps as well. Along with a RAM upgrade, it's helped with battery life and smoothness of workflow as well.

Good budget drive

Improved memory

Will look at this for my grandchildren’s computers that are needing extra memory. Wish I had this much on the original unit. Easy to install and set up even for an 84 year old that is not really computer literacy. Glad CNN it was recommended by the GEEK squad member that assisted me with repairs and update. Why suffer with old slow limited unit when this is available so readily.
