I had purchased a broken ASUS laptop that had a working system board but not a good screen. The computer was dirt cheap and needed a hard drive. With its i5 chip and 12 gigs of ram, this would make a good project computer. Rather than install another spinning drive, I wanted to see how this PNY SSD drive would do and I am astounded. Boot times are between 5-10 seconds from power to lock screen. Overall performance is like a much newer machine. While this may not be the fastest SSD available, it fit my budget for the amount of space. What was most impressive is that this computer came with Windows 8.1 when new and using a Windows 10 installation usb media, the system went to Windows 10 without a hitch and has a valid Windows key now. Followed directions from Microsoft and I could not be happier. Great price for a very good and competent product.

I depend heavily on this SSD when I'm restoring older MacBook Pro laptops. They are dependable and surprisingly fast for its price point. My family members and friends are very happy with their laptops, and if they are happy, then I'm happy!

READ / WRITE speeds are close to what is advertised. i remember purchasing these for over $100 back in the day and they still work, for half the size and those were only 240 gig models back then. amazing how much these came down in price. these days the best use is for storage use since those new m.2 drives are even faster than these. but it is still fast enough to boot and run software good for laptop upgrades and such.

Though not as fast as NVME ssds, for the price i bought this for its a greag way to add storage to a pc which has an outdated mechanical drive. Itll make your pc run extremely smoother and boot faster. An easy reccomendation for anyone stull running mechanical drives.

I've used the PNY 500GB Internal Hard Drive to upgrade several laptops with sluggish mechanical drives. The difference in speed is remarkable. This is a basic, DRAM-less SSD, but for the price you can't really complain. 500GB and usable speed for this price is a great deal and works well for a regular pc or entry level gaming pc. It does have the speed related issues associated with a DRAM-less SSD, but I found this to not be noticable in typical usage.

PNY 2.5 inch solid state drives have always proven reliable for over 10 years of purchasing this brand. The performance for the price point to upgrade systems with older spinning hard drives is great when you don't have an M.2 or newer option. They are great for expandable storage as well. Highly recommend.

IT support for business specific software asked for all workstations to be upgraded to SSD for faster bootups of desktops---after a network slow down after installing the latest Windows 10 "upgrade" Although, I was unsure if this was going to make a difference since had half the workstations (10 out of 20) already with SSD and the rest were not, but at the cost of the PNY SSD it was a no brainer--- the alternative was to install new computers--- and did not want to deal with the networking and installing of all the needed softwares at this time---3--4 day affair. After the install, did not notice a difference in the network speed, but saw quickier boot times which was acheived. IT support when asked to check stated workstations, stated they were upto "spec" and the network issues would be resolved now with the new Windows 10 patch/upgrade... At least I no longer have to worry about failing HardDrives for the next few years.

I have had this SD installed for about 5 months now and it has been great. It is fast and reliable. The startup of time for Windows 10 is super fast. I have been very happy with my purchase. If you have an older PC and want to improve its performance, this is one of the cheapest upgrades you can do. The only downside is having to move your data. It was worth the trouble.

Installed by the Geek Squad to replace a faulty hard drive. Surprisingly great price which is why I went with it. And so far so good. Plenty of space and doing what it's supposed to.

Installed in a 4 yr old dell Laptop that was running slow. Boot time is now less than a minute and everything works great. Would highly recommend the change over a standard SATA drive. Only negative is no software was included to clone your existing drive. You will have to go download some 3rd party shareware for that but there are plenty of options out there.

I bought this for my wife's sluggish HP laptop. Great transformation! The only negative was that PNY didn't provide any disk cloning software like some other manufacturers do, so I incurred some extra expense.

I've got no complaints with this SSD, particularly when it's on sale. SATA may be a little old these days, and I'd never use it as a boot drive by choice, but I have noticed that it is very good at making older laptops at least usable. I think I've bought three of these things by now, all for laptops being used by family and friends. The sudden speed increase makes them happy, and nobody ends up complaining about the $30 price tag in the process. While you could get an SSD from eBay for cheaper, those are all sketchy off-brands; so I think this is one of the best ones I've found so far for a balance between between "cheap" and "If this breaks, I could get it warrantied easily". So, I'd recommend it for sure if you're sticking this in a computer you care about.

I decided to purchase this SSD to use for a crashed PC with the "blue screen of death" when I was unable to get the PC back running through it's Windows repair commands or prompts and it saved me from purchasing a new pc.
