Good gaming in low profile cases with low wattage

I bought this PNY GT1030 card for a Dell Optiplex 790 Slim PC to use as a gaming machine. Yes there are better graphics cards out there, but for this particular computer with a stock Dell slim 240 Watt power supply in it, this is a great choice. It runs cool and stable without needing a power supply upgrade or any additional power connection to the power supply. Perfomance change on the game Subnautica as example. It was running at 5FPS with a Radeon HD3000 series card all settings on low and resolution at 720P. It now runs Subnautica at 30FPS with all settings on high and resolution set at 1080P. Bottom line if you need a low profile gaming card and want to use your stock power supply, it's a great option for the price for sure.

    Good basic graphics card.

I bought this card in January, 2018 for a new build. Lots of more recent buyers have complained that their cards were the inferior, later production SDDR4 versions. I was lucky - mine is a true GDDR5 (Micron) card, as shown by TechPowerUp GPU-Z, with a release date of February, 2017. And, it cost only $86 at the time! The current product description doesn’t state the type of memory on the card. Considering that, I would bet that the card listed is the DDR4 version. I wouldn’t promote that, either, If I were selling it. I also cannot recommend the current card for that reason alone. Admittedly, I'm not a gamer, and I knew up front that this card was considered entry level for that purpose. But, it certainly works well for my general use. I've never had a single system compatibility or stability issue, or any problem playing back 1080p videos. I'm currently running the most recent Nvidia driver 531.79 dated April 25, 2023.

Solid for what was looking for

As an upgrade from my previous card it's been excellent, there are a few games from 2019-onwards that I've had to compromise a little bit for an atleast tolerable experience but I won't entirely blame the card for that, additionally I had problems installing as both retention brackets didn't fit my PC. Good for those who don't care about the latest titles or super graphics intensive ones.

    NOT WORTH IT

I bought this looking to upgrade the graphics of my son's HP computer with a Ryzen 7 4700G. He only has a 180 watt power supply, so I needed something that would use the power from the slot. I thought this card would do the trick, but it was barely better than the on-board Radeon graphics. It was a complete waste of money. I ended up buying him a MSI GTX 1650 for the same cost, and that met my expectations for performance. Now this waste of money sits in a box on the shelf. This card is NOT WORTH IT.

    Pretty Good Substitute Card

I got this card after not being able to get a current-gen card after 3 tries. It definitely performs like it's supposed to though, the price is a little higher than I wanted. For the most part, good card for mild use, and can definitely handle more than just internet browsing.

This was the only one I could find in stock. It solved BSOD issues on my 10 year old PC. It works good for light games such as Minecraft. It really helped bring my old computer back into a usable state. Highly Reccomended.

DONT BUY!! This is not a x16 card. Beware!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this product at your stores and the photo/ description are all a lie including the box. It says on the box minimum requirements is x16 and the photo shows a x16 card. When you open the box it's a x4 video card. To make matters worse they used DDR4 RAM and not DDR5 RAM like the card is suppose to have. It's not bestbuys fault. PNY didnt even update their own website to show the correct photo and description. Seems they changed the design mid way through this year. Don't buy unless you want a card that wiggles in the slot and has no spot to click the card into your x16 slot. Really shady business tactics by PNY. To make matters worse i tried to show and explain to a manager at bestbuy to be told by him thats hes a geek squad and the manager. He said this is what comes in the box and Im wrong. I tried to show him the photo and box is wrong and he got nasty. Guess you dont train your geek squad to know what pcie x4, x8, x16 differences are... not sure how you guys even fix video cards let alone cpu's if you dont even know the basics of what fits in it.

    30+ fps benchmark running fortnite!

Built an entry gaming pc for my son with just an i5 45xx processor, 16gb ram on an optiplex 7020 with Dell 24" U24xx monitor. We used this graphics card and kept the stock PSU (290Watt). While using a USB boom mic, USB 1080p/30fps webcam, and obs studio, we are able to stream to youtube over wifi (USB based) and get 30+ fps while playing fortnite. I'm pretty impressed by this little GPU and couldn't be more happy with it.

I MIGHT be a good card (even with DDR4 memory).. BUT, the interface is NOT what is shown in the picture (PCIex16 In facr, I dont know WRH interface it is. Lop off about 1/4 of the pins... (it will NOT fit in a "regulation" PCIe x 16 slot)

    Great Video Upgrade

Bought this one as an upgrade from a PNY NVIDIA GT 220 PCI Express X 16 2.0 card. Windows 10 had to think a bit about getting along with it for initial start up. Be prepared to open up an NVIDIA support account, and then a lengthy driver download, but once through that, performance appears to be excellent.

    E-waste for sale

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Cost to performance this is just e-waste. Now if you need some thing like this go with the same company PNY - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card with Dual Fan - Black. More power by far you will be happier. Yet this is still on the low end. 2060, 3060 are already more powerful by 50-60% and 100-110%

Everyone, I know it's seriously desperate times for gpus but do try to bear in mind that aside from being double what it's supposed to cost, this is also the FAR inferior variant of the 1030 that features ddr4 VRAM instead of gddr5. Please look up reviews to confirm what I am saying. This card is a complete scam.

It is an x8 card, not x16 as described

The description here and on PNY's website, and on the box, says that it's an x16 card. But the item in the box is a x8 card. I returned it in person and asked to exchange it - we opened the box of the replacement while at the checkout stand and it also was an x8 card.
