Customers enjoy the fun, fast-paced gameplay of Pokkén Tournament DX, finding it easy to learn and play. While some wish for a larger character selection and more Pokémon, many praise the game's action and controls. The price point was a concern for some players.

Pokken is another good game for the Switch that allows to you play co-op. The gameplay is fast paced and looks great. My only gripe would be some of the character choices. Overall it’s a great game to play with friends or by yourself on the go.

I'm a product of the 90's, which means I had the privilege of growing up with the Pokemon anime and playing the games on my gameboy color. While playing the games, pokemon matches were left to the imagination while the anime brought those images to life. That's the great thing about Pokken Tournament. It is, to this date, the closest a video game has come to bringing those action-packed battles to your TV. The reason I give it a four star is when that excitement wears off, the game does loose a little luster with the lack of single player options. Basically, it's a fighting game meant to play with friends with Pokemon as it's theme.

Pokemon fights and kids--whats not to love?

My kids LOVE this game (like all things Pokemon it seems). They had the previous Wii-U version and played it all the time. Now that we've upgraded systems we had to (of course) upgrade the games too...The good thing is this one has a lot of extra things the Wii-U version didn't.
Long and short is, my kids love it and can play it a very long time. The controls aren't too difficult for my 6-year-old, but they're complex enough that my 11-year-old really gets into it.
If you have kids and a Switch, get them this game. They will love it.

Being a huge Pokemon and Tekken fan, this game did not disappoint. With only a limited number of pokemon to choose from, it makes up for it with great graphics and animation. Overall it is a very replay-able game.

Pokken Tournament DX isn't exactly a "new" game; the original home version came out a few years ago for the Wii U, and if you've played it, you pretty much know what to expect.
For those who are new to Pokken Tournament: It's a 3D fighting game based on the Tekken engine, but more user-friendly - and, of course, altered to account for the fact that Pokemon can routinely launch ranged attacks of several different sorts. The events of the game take place in the Ferrum region, rather than being set anywhere that's been seen in the main series of Pokemon RPGs; rather than seeking out gyms to earn badges (or other challenges like Sun and Moon), you're a "Battle Trainer" whose Pokemon partner competes in the Ferrum League's one-on-one fighting tournaments under your guidance.
If you have the original Pokken Tournament, you pretty much already know what you're getting. There are a few new additions to the roster, and everything is unlocked up front (as opposed to the first game, where you had most of the Battle Pokemon to choose from but most of the Support Pokemon were unlocked over time, among other things). DX also introduces Daily Challenges and Team Battles; the former are exactly what they sound like, the latter let you pick a team of three Battle Pokemon and take on another team, King of Fighters style, until one team is all eliminated. It also lets you do single-system two-player, mapping all of the necessary controls to a single Joy-Con per player, as well as supporting both online battles and local wireless networking.
If you're a fan of Pokemon and fighting games and you DON'T have the original Pokken Tournament, this is a really good game to pick up - being able to play it anywhere, any time, is a sweet feature.
If you DO have the original Pokken Tournament, I think DX is still worth picking up - but you may want to weigh that against how much you liked the first game, how much you want to play as the new Pokemon, and how likely you are to play it away from your TV at home.

I didnt even know this game existed until recently. At first i thought it was a reboot of pokemon stadium from back in the day but oh no this took that concept a step further by giving us an actual pokemon fighting game?! Buy it!

I really liked playing Pokken as it brought something very new to the Pokemon IP that many hoped for but did not imagine that we would actually get something like this. The DX version for the Switch is the best version to get as it includes many more characters than the Wii U version, plus the online scene is very well and thriving with tournaments abound. I recommend this to fans of fighting games like Tekken that are looking for some fun, or Pokemon fans as well!

I initially played this on the Nintendo Wii U back in 2016 and knew I had to have it. If you're a fan of fighting games AND the Pokemon franchise, this one is an essential game to have in your Nintendo Switch library.

This is the game that finally gives you the ability to fight pokemon in rel time... well I guess that was technically the first time when it released on Wii U. This game is the Wii U game but with some more characters in the main line up and supports as well as a few new arenas. It's a pretty competent fighter and offers the most lifelike designs of a pokemon ever seen in an official pokemon game. The story does seem to drag on a bit, but the fun is to be had from getting your friends together and having a Pokken Tournament to see who is truly the Best like no one ever was!

I was reticent to buy a game I already owned on the previous generation console. I needn't be! The fact that it comes with all of the DLC and unlocked content was great. One can get right into game play without any kind of grind. Online and multiplayer support are fantastic. It's hard to beat it if you are a Pokken fan, even if you have it on the Wii U. Grab a copy and show you are the very best, like no one ever was.

Pokken is a pretty good fighting game. It can be a bit tough if you aren’t into fighting video games but I feel it is still fun nonetheless. There are a good amount of Pokémon you can choose to pick with all different fighting styles. Online battles can be hard but there are a bunch of modes that’ll help you become better. If you love Pokémon/fighting games you should definitely get this game.
